Game is great. Gameplay works for what it is, there's plenty of meta stuff and interwoven events that cause a ton of tiny changes throughout the game world. LGBT stuff is done right - lesbian romance isn't accentuated or being put on a pedestal, it's just there and that's nice. There's proper meta fuckery without it being too detached from the game (looking at you, Doki Doki's Babby's First Meta Club). Great music.

Undertale being blasted in my every social channel on the Internet made me develop a strong distaste for it, though. Too much of a good thing etc.
Most of the community doesn't even appreciate/care/know about all the little tidbits and events that's in the game, it's all epic sans jokes and retarded pairings. I'm not one to judge people for having fun wrong, but this is just sad.

Honestly, the game is fun enough for a playthrough, and depending on taste, we'll worth the time. I'll avoid mentioning the game or having any merchandise related to it on basis of the community though.

It's hard to believe how much the community actually did ruin Undertale

Undertale is a game best played blind with as little knowledge of it as possible, but the community ruined that completely.

They also turned my favorite characters into Cringe icons. Sans is a universal cringe icon at this point, along with Minecraft Steve and Fred Fazbear. Mettaton was my favorite villain since he was a David Bowie parody with a sick theme song, but tumblr made it so you now can't have a conversation about him without somebody bringing up trannies.
With a lot of my favorite characters now cringe icons and their best jokes spammed as memes, it's hard to go back and enjoy the story and take it seriously. I think the memespam in general just ruined the story almost completely, since memes eventually ruin the humor of whatever was funny in the first place.

Quit talking about it and do it already.

Most fanbases are pretty horrible, so I don't see what makes this one so bad.
I just don't see anything appealing about the game for me, whatsoever. I guess Hopes and Dreams is a pretty good song though.
