GTA IV had a much better atmosphere and story than GTA V. Do you agree? But GTA V was better in almost any other aspect... Well, except driving.

Opinion discarded
GTAV was worse in every way but size. A massive downgrade in technology because they had to add a giant empty desert and a broken online mode to appeal to normies.
So you like arcadish driving
West coast is pussy
They're both trash.
GTA IV is the ultimate pleb filter of the gta games
My only major opinion is that I prefer Liberty City to Los Santos.
Errybody knows Vice City was the best
We're only talking about Hd games though.
I wish there was a HD remake of Vice City
gta 4 driving owned
I love VC's atmosphere and it has the best radio stations of any GTA game but San Andreas just has a lot more shit to do
Too bad GTA IV didn't have any countryside to fuck around it.
I enjoyed every other GTA game over 5 personally. I've never played the handhelds though.
GTA LCS was pretty good. It was like GTA 3 but better
GTAIV cars handled like boats and the movement was a bit clunky at times. Still spent longer fucking around that I did in GTAV.
Holy fuck, GTAV's post game sucks ass. Hyper-aggressive cops ruin any potential fun you could have.
I fucking love when virgins that never in their fucking lives drove a fucking car praise the boats from GTA4.
GTA IV had garbage pacing.
I didn't really like either game when I played them on console.
GTA V on PC is really good though. I enjoy switching 3rd and first person. Funny how it runs so much better than 4. I could not get a steady framerate on 4
>hyper aggressive cops ruin any potential fun
Finally, someone with my same complaint.
I used to go on hour-long police rampages with my friends. Now in V, these fuckers can nail you with a 92FS from their car travelling at mach 2, all after because you stared at them wrong on the street corner.
You are the perma virgin.
Or hit a pedestrian in the middle of the fucking mountains with nobody else in sight. Goddamnit, fuck that game.
Yeah GTA IV was really badly optimized. The graphics were really good back then, but at the cost of performance
IV is worse in every way. Get the fuck over it.
Yeah it's like LSPD was actually modeled after LAPD
GTA IV had probably the best driving physics in any open world game to date. I used to love just aimlessly driving around in different cars.
Pleb
>people unironically praise gta 4's driving
This tbqh
The pacing in GTA V was absolutely fucked; and I don't mean necessarily the pacing of the story, but of the entire game. The entire single player experience felt like one overly long tutorial for GTA:O. If the climax of your game, the final missions, the bit that's supposed to be a sort of final exam for everything you've learned in the game so far, has to be tutorialized, then you have failed at game design. You also couldn't 100% the game without grinding radiant quests, which never provide enough money to buy all the properties in what I would subjectively consider an appropriate amount of time; I'm never going to bother buying the airport, but given how crap the radiant missions are, I don't really feel like I'm missing out on too much.
That said, GTA IV had a much better story, but it doesn't at all mesh with the confines of a GTA game. It's hard to take a story seriously about the horrors of war and failure of the American dream from an embittered immigrant with PTSD while you're running over pedestrians while driving on the sidewalk to stop by an internet cafe called TW@T. You can't have a contemplative existential conversation about having a cake, and launch it off a malfunctioning swingset too.
Is there a biggest pleb filter than GTA IV's driving?
Big Rigs driving. Plebs can't handle the tight responsive controls
gta 4 did 3 protagonists better than 5 did. like, way better. the fucking diamonds story is only the beginning. i think chinatown wars only had slight ties, but man, the liberty city we got from 2008-2011 felt fucking alive. gta v feels empty, even compared to san andreas. i also think this came down to the lack of player housing. in san an and 4 you get pushed throughout the world over the course of the story. 5 gave up on this and appeased the fuckers that want an open world from the get go. i could have lived with the 1 island thing, if they also nudge you throughout the whole thing. michael being kicked out of the city and forcing you to play as trevor in the desert didnt work for me the same way as killing playboy x and getting his house, or your own garage in san fierro. i also just really hate the save anywhere on the cell phone idea. i replayed the story recently and its significantly better to have to go to the safehouse to save. still bummed by the complete lack of buying houses. online has it, also with limitations but thats a whole other mess and ive already ranted so much no one read this far anyway.
also, if you want atmosphere, bring back all the food places and mini marts and robbery interiors from san andreas. 4 greatly reduced this too, but at least had the projects with like 50 copy pasted floors you can explore in every building. 4 also added car washes and bars. 5 removed everything and i hated it.
player housing is important. pic related, my favorite savehouse in any gta.
san andreas > vice city stories > gta 4
GTA IV had worse car physics and the streets were practically empty of cars felt more like toronto than nyc
GTA Online is basically Saints Row 3 onwards now.
Driving in GTAIV wasn't hard, it was just annoying. Going at any reasonable speed (for a game about car chases and shit), turning was either painfully slow, or behaved like your wheels were greased pvc tubes. You could learn to overcome the handicap of being unable to turn reliably, but driving in any mission was never actually fun
