Kojima spilled the beans on some of his ruse cruise. thoughts?
>Light was shed on the trailer. Turns out the crater at the end came from the explosion caused by the giant monster >game has a mechanic where your death has "consequences" and you revisit your remnants when you die a la dark souls >Likewise, when you die, you get transported to the sea seen in the last trailer, can interact with certain objects and then return to the "surface" (like the final scene in the trailer) >There is a strange thing called timefall which is essentially rain from another dimension that causes rapid aging (explaining the guy who got really old really fast in the trailer) >The baby from all three trailers is the very same one and will serve both as a plot point and as a game mechanic. >latest trailer is the earliest chronologically >game might have online, but can't be confirmed >game has been delayed due to the VA strikes
>From the sound of it, this is where Sam, and the player, go every time they die. But don’t make the mistake of calling this “game over.” When you die in Death Stranding, you’re transported to this purgatory, where you’re free to explore in first-person. Because of some mysterious “unique” abilities Sam possesses, you can wander outside of your body, recovering items among other things. As Kojima explains, “At that point, you’re not dead or alive. It’s the equivalent of that screen that says ‘Continue?’ and a counter ticking down towards zero.”
Hideo Kojima PSX 2017 Keynote Interview share
Kayden Foster
That was actually a good and informative interview compared to a lot of shit I read today.
Shame we see no gameplay yet, but at least we learn some things about it.
It was really interesting how he talked about starting again a little before you died was made so you'd put more coins in. I never thought about that and it does seem weird to keep something like that when you have already purchased the game.
Robert Mitchell
Linear or Open World meme?
Lucas Cox
Wonder how weird the tutorial would be. Do you have to have an understanding of Human History from the timeline where Hitler won using the power of Cthulhu and Donald Trump's pet monkey Hillary Clinton in order to fire a gun?
Becuase this game is going to get WEIRD.
Jaxson Jenkins
Well, that's me out then. I don't want to figure out the plot and stuff before i can play the game. See you when the game is out

So it's Soul Reaver?

I never played Soul Reaver. How did death work in that?

Poor thing. Kojima is not alright

I don't know if it's been pointed out but the end of the Death Stranding trailer was a depiction of what the lyrics of Nuclear by Mike Oldfield say. (Standing at the edge of the crater; no more bullets/the embers are dead; deep inside, the abandonned child) This is the cover of the album this song's from. Notice anything familiar?
Carter Smith
I forgot Kojima had a son. Again. I wonder how his wife feels about being replaced with a new literal who model or attractive actor like Mads every other week?
Justin Taylor
ummmmmm ok wtf. Is this legit??
Ryder Cooper
Their relationship isn't so great.
If you didn't know, Rose in MGS2 is inspired by Kojima's wife. She's the most annoying cunt in that game besides Raiden himself
Colton Wright
I remember hearing that her nagging was inspired by his wife, but I mean Rose and Raiden are in love so I don't know what that has to do with anything. It sounded more like a "typical nagging gf/wife" man joke than anything serious anyway.
Ian Richardson
Yeah, look it up if you want.
Gavin Cooper

Matthew Price
That's why he was sad that so many people hated Rose.

>Likewise, when you die, you get transported to the sea seen in the last trailer, can interact with certain objects and then return to the "surface" (like the final scene in the trailer)
Not liking this. It sounds like a shitty minigame you're forced to play every time you die a la Prey (the 2006 shooter).
Eli Lopez
This is some next level shit. I am more than a little blown away if Kojima really has set this up. He must have just listened to the song so much that he thought "Hey i'll make a game based around the lyrics."
Also is this a Sup Forums theory, or has some youtube celeb already seen the connection here?
Camden Sanchez
>VA strikes I don't understand how people with non-jobs go on strike WAAAAAAHHHH WERE NOT GETTING ENOUGH MONEY AND BENEFITS TO SIT IN A CHAIR AND READ!!
literally anybody can be a voice actor. Fuck man, I'll do it, gimme $150 and 1 bagged lunch a day and I'll do as many takes as you want
Carter Edwards
Holy fuck that picture. Based Kojima.
Evan Kelly
What does kojimas wife look like?
Bentley Reed
Nobody knows. Not even Kojima.
Joshua Davis
Yeah, Kojima just planned DS long before resigning from Konami.

good find user
James Diaz
It's from "Making of Metal Gear Solid 4 - Hideo Kojima's Gene" on Youtube. Really good watch, and gives some great insight to Kojimas personality and the way he aproaches game development. Having watched that, i'm convinced people are either baiting or being contrarian when they call him a hack or that he's only made shit games etc.
Here's a link to the first video, out of 4. >youtube.com/watch?v=uryw8nM9fzA It's in Japanese, but there's captions for it. Just click the "CC" icon.
Zachary White
Yeah but I never saw anyone making the connection with the album cover. It nearly shat my pants when I saw it while casually listening to Sailing
Brody Campbell
call me when there's actual gameplay footage. Kojima is such a hack
Julian Allen
Holy fucking shit I hope I make it into the screencap
James Gonzalez
>revisit your remnants when you die a la dark soul stopped reading there this would be insert coin and reset type of game, death stranding is exactly not this type of game you retarded shit
Bentley Cooper
I just want to come in there with a couple brewskis and bro it up with him ya feel me?
people made the connection with the cover months ago, before the most recent trailer.
Nathaniel Baker
I remember reading on Wikipedia saying that Death Stranding is an Action Open World game.
Given how fucking bad was MGSV's world, that's a red flag.
Jaxson Ramirez

Robert Kelly
He worded it badly, what Kojima said was that after dying you can recover items and such. im sure that through the game there will be stuff you might want to get that ends up in the water world, like when those beings sucked many objects and corpses from the enviroment into it.
You will see your remnants like in the trailer, but you will explore the rest of the enviroment for clues as to what to do next, gather objects to help you progress. and then you go to your corpse and the baby revives you
Lucas Rodriguez
>Wikipedia Lol.
Eli Richardson
It honestly sounds less weird than what I imagined it would be according to the trailer
Most people who start shit are either trolls, bored or completely uninformed parroters who don't actually bother getting to know about the things/people they complain about.

I'm hoping kojimbo took the david icke/eyes wide shut.
Here is my thoughts on the plot
>demon psychic reptile alien alter-dimensional beings are harvesting humanity's negative cognitive emotions for their own gain. Mads is one of them >Death's Stranding is about humanity's slave race (homo sapiens) realizing earth is an artificial construct meant to keep humans at war, starved, depressed, and emotionally tortured so the aliems can absorb our psychic ability. They use black strands as vampiric umbilical cords to steal our power. >Homo Ludens is a group meant to combat the reptile overlords, using human culture and technology, Redus is part of this and is named Sam Porter. They like weating necklaces with physics equations cause it shows how nature and reality can be understood and controlled (also the moby dick whale ties into this; man quest to tame nature and reality) > Use invitro arificial womb babies free from sin and reptile corruption to become psychic dimension breakers that allow them to transport Ludens members and save them from reptile aliem demons. Bond is linked through bio-mechanical umbilical cord pipe. >Babies can teleport you from the hell/death dimension back to the real world >Black oil is basically alien transimensional ether that links worlds.Sam coughs up the same blackshit and bugs while rezzing cause he got transported by the ether tide summoned by the baby. Redus has an intense emotional bond with the baby, since it rezes him and saves his shit all the time. >All the fucking weird ass monsters are just a shmorgus board of terrifying deadly stuff from across dimensions and the universe as biological warfare, kinda like The Mist. >Guy stabs himself to try dying before the aliems try transporting him to super hell like event horizon cause they're evil psychic vampires.
Xavier Baker
I remember being scared of the one in Tekken 4 thanks to the soundtrack
I hope we get to ride on a spaceship and go try skewering Saturn with a lazer harpoon.
Adam Foster
but all wives nag, you just never really get it until you're married yourself.
Jaxon Rodriguez
I honestly believe this is going to be the main song of the game. It just can't fit the crater scene that well without having been planned in the first time, it's too much of a coincidence
John Bennett
>WHOAAAAAAAHHHHH THIS IS SOME DEEP NEXT LEVEL SHIT WTFFFFFFF
You fucking retards, each trailer was based around a song. First two were Low Roar, this new one reuses Nuclear. Japs are also known to take superficial things for the sake of the "cool" factor, as seen with Kojima reusing the handprint motif from the album cover.
Ian Sanders
>Mike Oldfield references >superficial things Choose one and only one, and very wisely.
Xavier Hall
Talking about the handprints, dumbass, not the trailer being based around the song. The game is basically Kojima taking his favorite parts from other arts and pop culture and mixing them together.
Lincoln Hall
Kojima said he only wants to make open world now anyway.
Lucas Sanders
>ummmmmmmmmm ok wtf >?? Fuck off to twitter, newshit.

Noah Powell
>its real he fucking did it it wont be long now >heh I ALREADY knew about this, didnt you faggots lmaooooo >this is a COMPLETE coincidence you fucking mongol retards, /div/ told me all about this happening in the near future >KOJIMA IS HACK
John Cruz
It's not "real".
He's working off the same conceptual themes and philosophy that he wanted to execute in MGSV and Silent Hills that he didn't get to do.
It's continuity of work, not MGSV Chapter 3.
Same as Lynch's vaguely thematic dream imagery, it's meant to tease connections and associations that it can never explicitly establish.
