The unfortunate thing about cool open world anime games is that they inherently feel like those fanmade UE4 techdemos.

Finally. This is how a OP game should be like.

The animation and movement look surprisingly fluid, but the open world will probably be ass. Crops/grass/etc. moving around your feet while you pass through them would go a long way to hide the map's static nature. It's autistic, but I always get disappointed when that technology isn't in a game.

I don't see how it doesn't look like One Piece. One Piece style varies wildly all over the place. I mean look at Fuusha Village, or Syrup Village, in comparison to fucking Whole Cake Island, or Enies Lobby.

That being said, the game looks amazing but I want to see how many other playable characters there will be and more of the gameplay. It looks very grounded, not like the unlimited games or the warriors games.

The press release we got a couple of days ago also confirms this is the only area the game takes place in. There's no sailing to other island to explore or anything like that.

I don't see whats wrong with that, I mean it would have been great to have a variety of crazy New World islands to sail around to, but the first open world game, it makes sense for something simple and vanilla.

Aside from the running cycle, Luffy's animations look legit as fuck, and using Jet Pistol to headshot enemies if fucking genius.

I'm glad that generally people can accept most One Piece games are not good, that has been my experience with them since the piece of shit Wii games.

This looks promising but post timeskip is a bummer, that has all been garbage so far, much prefer pre timeskip OP stuff.

Since its open world, will you explore other island or just that one big one? Also will there be other characters to play as besides Luffy?

to be fair Unlimited Adventure took place on one island, and it was great. It just had multiple areas within it that all had a different setting. This will probably be the same if they go that route.

One Piece isnt fucking done yet. A game with World in the title would benefit from knowing what all of the world even looks like. This will also be yet another game where characters with unknown ability (Shanks, Dragon, etc) will get some vague shit that is ultimately unsatisfying to see

Childhood is not wanting Vivi on the crew because she's useless. Adulthood is realizing that Luffy is collecting friends, not warriors and over half of his crew is useless. They all get by on luck and Vivi would have found her niche

The One Piece story is lots of fun but it just doesn't work well animated, even if the animation of most of it wasn't so awful, the dialogue and humor is just fucking obnoxious when you have to see and hear the characters screaming nonsense. The manga is fantastic. Go to mangasee or somewhere and just read it, that site even has it in full color almost up to the current chapters.

Everyone in the crew is about equal distance in power to another crew member. It's not just Luffy and his useless pals, other crews have relatively weak members, too. The Straw Hats are comparable to Whitebeard's division commanders, Whitebeard just happens to also have an army of mooks.

If I ended up in the world of One Piece, I'd be taking the boat from Thunder in Paradise which is called Thunder(pic related).

Thunder can transform in a fully armored boat which even encloses the open exposed cockpit, with a computer AI that can auto pilot, GPS, and other info, machine guns, missile and torpedo launchers, mines, and I think it has a laser too, and some other gadgets, and its fast as fuck. Can outrun Marine Admiral Flagships and will lose them in seconds, and I think Thunder has cloaking so Calm Belts are no problem.

If there is another time skip it will be an epilogue, where we are right now has the crew well on the path to reaching Raftel, they have two Road Poneglyphs, are facing Yonko crews now, and are getting involved in massive scale ordeals, there won't be room for a sudden time skip before events are through

Read the manga, because they don't want to do the sane thing like Souma or Hero Academia and take a break once its done with a season to catch up, OP ALWAYS has to have an episode out weekly. Which means it has to move at a snails pace and only adapts ONE EPISODE AT A TIME.

The only fight in the anime I'd say is worth watching is Luffy vs Blueno
