Why didn't it catch on?

Why didn't it catch on?

DS was already out.

Because only babies, manlets, and Donald Trump were able to hold it properly.

The SP made my hands cramp like a motherfucker and that thing would have been even worse.

too smol like my 4 inch dick :(

which 3ds should i get? would xl fit in my pocket?

They released it really fucking late. Doesn't play GBC games either.

Because it came out after the DS.

carnies too

Why should it? They only produced like 12 and sold out.

Because it came out in like '05, which was a year after the DS. It was irrevalent.

>ds has been out since '05
what

Oh fuck it was 2004
Fucking time to be euthanized
>tfw playing my gba up until 2010

lol

i remember seeing one commercial of it

Something that didn't help - They didn't sell changeable face plates in Europe, the marketing never mentioned it and the instructions didn't mention it either. It was one of the big gimmicks of it so... It was weird.
Identical to the releases everywhere else of course so you could buy plates online. You'd have to buy the removal tool too though since obviously it didn't come with that in Europe either.

Fuck all this Micro hate. At least it was actually a step in the right direction. Remember when portable electronics actually aspired to be portable? Ever since the micro, handhelds have kept getting bigger, to the point that they barely fit in my pocket anymore, and now I'm supposed to lug around a fucking switch? Just get a little bit dexterous instead of expecting the industry to hold you by your clumsy, primitive, giant ape hands.

Switch fits in a pocket and my hands cramp after holding the tiny fucking joycons for 30min. It seriously needs a bit of a size increase.

i wanted it at the time but i had an SP so it wasnt a priority

now though i want one more than anything

But the problem is it should be thicker not just wider

It was only released in case the DS bombed they could quickly go back to the GBA and later develop a Game Boy successor.

Since the DS took off, they pretty much abandoned the GBA and was left to die along with the Micro since all their marketing and development moved to the DS.

If the DS had faltered then yeah they would've continued to market the GBA and continued to release AAA games on it. Who knows if the Micro would've survived but the GBA in general would've continued for another 2 years until a new Game Boy arose.

Yeah, it should be nice and thicc. Then we could get some decent battery life out of the damn thing as well.

Most already had a GBA in some form
DS was out
Bad marketing
Was honestly probably priced too high
The crazy thing was that it still sold a couple million units because it was a Gameboy

I love my GBM, I bought it for cheap when it was on clearance, I don't even notice that the screen is smaller.

The D-Pad is easily the best of the GBA models, the backlight is superior to the GBA SPs, the buttons feel great and even though it's small it doesn't cramp your hands with extended use. It's so small you can literally take it anywhere easily.

It does scratch easily and it has no headphone jack which sucks. Cool little device and awesome way to play GBA games if you're a fan.

This. Ninty doing same thing with 3ds and switch. If switch didn't catch fire like it did, they were planning on keeping the 3ds alive with more games, including pokemon, then make a 3ds successor later.

For anyone curious but too lazy to look it up.

Nintendo DS:
NA: November 21, 2004

GB Micro:

because its like 12th generation nano ipod. no one gave a fuck because its nothing special. its just something to pickup if you still wanted to play GBA games. but they the industry was already doing DS at this point.

It's just worse than both the SP and the DS.
Its size is the only selling point, and I don't really think it's worth the smaller screen.

Dude, there's totally a headphone jack.

Why would you buy it when the DS could play GBA/GBC/GB games while the micro only did GBA? It seemed more like a novelty thing.

Not everybody wears cargo pants, jim

it cost 150$ while the ds cost 200

I still have mine. The face plates are pieces of shit unfortunately, the way they attach makes them incredibly easy to break the legs on them.

>almost a year later

well thats an interesting decision

no, you needed to buy an adapter or buy the special GBM headphones Nintendo made.

Why would anyone want to play on such a stupidly tiny ass thing? You probably need a magnifiers to see your score.

it would fit in the inside pocket of a jean jacket but idk bout pants

>tfw got a special anniversary model but don't know where to sell it
looks like I'm keeping it

Its right there dude.

No reverse compatibility
Late as fuck in the gba lifespan
It did have better ergonomics than the SP though.
Modded GBA with rechargeable battery and backlight screen is best though

i wanted one just like i wanted an sp but i was happy enough with my original gba and the micro didnt play color games, was still mad about not having a backlight on my advance tho, i have a 3ds now and im mad it doesnt play gba games

>and it has no headphone jack which sucks
That was the GBA SP.

I dunno dude, my old-as-fuck ipod phones seem perfectly compatible. Unless headphones have fundamentally changed in some way I'm not familiar with, then you're probably recalling the previous GBA iterations which were indeed incompatible with normal phones without an adapter. I literally just whipped out my micro and phones to test what you were saying and listened to some Final Fantasy I no problem.

kek

HOLY SHIT
BLUNGRLF
BTFOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

You really think that amount of buttons is enough?
