>Ludo

DID SOMEONE SAY LUDO?

Why call it "ludo" instead of "vidya"? Kino is a short version of "cinema", ludo is just the dative form of the latin ludum. No one calls a video game "ludum". So just call it vidya, since that is actually a shortform of what people actually call the damn things.

But chances are you are just a shitposter.

Why do they look so German?

Is this the most ludo scene of this generation?

They don't.

t. German

>QTE button prompt
So, forgive me if I get this forced meme wrong, but doesn't "kino" (the way Sup Forums uses it) mean the highest moment of the medium of film in some way?
In that case, do you really think that the peak of video games is a button prompt QTE rather than an actual display of mechanics and level design?

did someone say ludo

Luda?

What's the difference between ludo and kino?

HOW DID THEY GET AWAY WITH IT

One of the best boss intros in gaming.
Hollow Knight spoilers, by the way.

most of Sup Forums was born the year this game came out, you're gonna have to elaborate.

This one was more ludographic

Nah. That's only one part of it. You can't really reduce gamic shit down to one word (other than gamic).

Pic related, my top ludo moment. No real "interaction" involved, unless you count that the cutscene "interacts" with the game.

Earthbound was actually the game that made me realize that there was more to games than just the actions of the player. There's an entire framework, narrative and visual and intellectual. And in the case of Earthbound it has to do with how well its narrative plays into its actual mechanics - in how many games, really, does the character, for instance, get the Ultimate Godslaying McGuffin and then that actually gives them the in-battle power to kill gods? Usually it's just some cutscene shit or an immune enemy that you can't kill without the item. I'm talking straight powerup, you know? Statistically visible.

There's like some sort of ludonarrative at play. I hate the word but that's the only thing I can describe it with. There's an interplay of the narrative of the game (in a more general sense than normally used) and its play mechanics.

Might've been mechanically and atmospherically great, but he didn't have the whole game building up to him.

I fucking hate Sup Forums

So VNs can have ludo moments now?

THANKS DOC

thanks doc

What are some vidya moments that are both ludo and kino?
>Boss transition that completely switches the dynamics of the fight and also redeems a fallen warrior

>PERHAPS THAT COULD BE SAID OF ALL RELIGIONS

Bump.

Thx doc

Button prompts and QTEs can be used effectively, and that's a good example of it. I'd say Asura's Wrath has some decent examples too but since it's 90% of the game it doesn't really count

Don't even @ me
