Nope. My display says 1920x1080 when this game plays. Most of the time it will say 1280x720 when I play most games like GTA V and Last of Us. Some less demanding games are able to achieve full resolution.

720p games output natively. They don't upscale on PS3. That's why the display goes off and on every time you start a game on PS3 because it outputs at 720p for graphically demanding games and 1080p for simple/less demanding games.

I'm pretty sure most people who like Zelda also like Okami once they get over themselves and realize its an actual good zelda clone after the first "Dungeon". Capcom probably just didn't want to dump resources to port to Switch since when this was getting set up they figured the Switch would flop because of Super Turbo Street Fighter Deluxe Edition II or whatever it was.

Increasing frame rate means reprogramming a lot of the functions of the game. It's easier just to keep it locked and not introduce any issues.

That screenshot isn't. You can force the PS3 to downscale because some displays only support 720p. But this game is definitely full hd on PS3.

I dont get why you cant like both desu. Okami does a lot of things differently than Zelda to the point where its just the basic formula that's the same. I think this is also a case of obnoxious minority screeching with megaphones. Anyone I've met who payed Okami loved it, and if the also liked Zelda they'd admit its similar but very different in its choice of themes to hit and has a much stronger sense of characterization.

That screenshot is from a review and is showing the game as it looks when you play it. 1080p with 4x MSAA(the game does have this) does not look like that. The article you and that other guy linked are not representative of the final product and mostly talks about textures.

They wouldn't set the game to output at 1080p if it wasn't. If you force 720p, anti-aliasing is increased to something like 8xMSAA and tearing is greatly reduced, though.

Xbone is next gen console and its not too different from PC, so they might as well.
Switch is completely different though

& will be backward compatible in the future.

Because Microsoft has a friendly approval process for games. Nintendo levies heavy taxes on developers for the privilege of being on their console. And probably dev kits cost a great deal.

I dont think a lot of thought was put into it. Probably an higher up asked if they could do a quick port of an old game for December with some spare change under the sofa and Okami fit just fine since the port was already made (PS3) and it looked gorgeous already.

As I said they output to 720p if that's the maximum resolution support. The games that do support 1080p will output natively at this resolution. Okami is not a demanding game and so can push for a higher resolution. Trine and Trine 2 did this also on PS3.

I'd wager if they did do Switch, it'd just be the Wii version and somehow put together even lazier.

MHW obviously couldn't be on Switch because of hardware limitations and very possibly a contract telling them they cant put it on Nintendo at all. I think they confirmed already the new Megaman will be on all platforms at launch. so Capcoms hardly washed their hands of Nintendo.
