I know a lot of people love Neverwinter Nights but is it really possible to play this game without eventually encountering game breaking bug preventing you from playing?
In every version I have played, there were bugs stopping me from advancing.

just wait for the hd remaster

uhh what
I've finished it like 5 times, not a single gamebreaking bug ever happened.

Yes, it is. I've beat it twice and never encountered such a thing.

What the hell have you been doing? Can't even tell you how many different times and builds I've beaten that game with. Never once encountered a game breaking bug.

just realized op is probably talking about NWN2 but is not actually intelligent enough to say so.

Seriously?
That's surprising for me.
I wanted to pick up the game again
In 2-3 different versions I have tried with, even the GoG veersion, had Sand instantly disappearing at the beginning of act two. He just is gone, not in the cutscenes, not in the shop. And because of that I cannot leave the district either.

Ah yeah I forgot to put 2 there but imagined the image would give it away.

Any ideas for this?

I've never seen that happen, and I've played through at least 8 or so times. Is that bug documented online anywhere, maybe in an old forum post or something? Even if there's no solution, at least you'd know it wasn't just you.

What gave it away? The obvious picture? At least the op has good company.

I've only ever hit one progstop, and that was when I was fighting skeletor at the keep. He was supposed to summon a creep after appearing in a cinematic, but brilliantly decided not to, because the only way he can die is if you kill that creep. It was common enough to show up here and needs a console command to fix:

I dunno, have you tried just spawning a copy of Sand in his shop?

I have only found 1, just 1, ancient forum post about it, but it's long lost now
It could be related to the disappearing party members bug though.
When Grobnar disappeared right before his ffirst cutscene I just copy pasted his roster file back to the save folder and it was fixed.
Same did not work with Sand.

I did but it did not change the quest progress.
Maybe it was because of the Gog Version I never learned.

Disappearing party members is a thing I've never seen happen. I guess if it's random, your best bet is to savescum and beat the system.

Overall, if I could play it again from nothing with no memory of what happened in the game, I wouldn't. NWN2 is a buggy mess that's barely worth the bother. It gets even more broken in the fabled epic expansion where quests bug out and you can advance through half the plot for no reason right when you leave the theater. Between that and immersion-destroying shit like finding gems and thousands of gold in village barrels with beggars in rags chilling right around the corner, it's just a load of crap. Story's not worth the tedium of the medium.

I finished this game so many times, most of those heavily modded, tho.

Only got stuck twice that I can remember, both times a reload of a previous save solved the issue.

I don't know about the gameplay and story aspects.
I always loved the game even with the immersion ruining gold and gems. The diversity of your character is enough to get you playing more

Even bugs aside, the dissonance between setting and gameplay manifests a long list of annoyances that will ultimately kill it for any role-player. Most of the game-breaking shit that happens requires you to spoil twists as you search online for solutions. It's just a waste of time all around.

But hey, if you enjoy DnD 3.5 ruleset simulators and don't mind a brain damaged robotic DM, it's pretty hard to beat. There's a really nice mod that expands the classes and spells to something ridiculous.

I never played DnD before maybe that's why I love NWN 2, or it could be nostalgia value

I'll be honest, it's difficult to enjoy DnD without friends who are well-practiced at role-playing and also not minmaxers or assholes. That set diagram has a very, very tiny favorable intersection, so anyone fortunate enough to experience playing with a group like that on a regular basis likely has a couple trinkets of godly luck +10 in their possession. NWN2 isn't bad if all you want to do is make characters and watch them kill things.

I just finished the first expansion today, I've never had a game breaking bug in either the main game or the expansion. I think you're just full of shit or playing on an unpatched pirated version, patch your fucking game user.

Nigger I'm talking about Vanilla not MotB.
I have finished MotB 3 times with 0 bugs

I think it depends on a lot of things. My original CD copy on XP crashed my computer from time to time, but my gog version works smoothly on Windows 10. Once I figured out that resizing issue, at least.

I said I finished main campaign too, illiterate niglet.

Maybe you are just a lucky faggot.
