It had one of the best OSTs of 2015 and it's way better than any of the other Xeno games. The only reason I've ever seen anyone shit on X's soundtrack is because they heard the NLA theme and listened to nothing else or they just hated sawano because muh Sup Forums memes.

X has some good songs, but no. It doesn't come close to Xenosaga 3's OST, for example. Or Xenoblade Chronicles.

youtu.be/cDbh3lLi1ZY

>this is bad

wut?

It was fitting for the game. Literally a mecha anime composer making music for a totally-not-mecha-anime game. I liked it.

Sawano is a fucking hack. Fucking ironic how Sup Forums hates weebshit but like Sawano's non-sensical engrish garbage.

X had both some of the best and he worst JRPG music. Kind of like the game itself has some of the best and worst gameplay design decisions.

So I guess it's kind of the perfect soundtrack.

The entire Xenosaga trilogy's music is a fucking joke. Fuck off with that shit.

>Muh music

I thought it was great because it had a core identity. Over the top as fuck

It pretty much fit with the theme of the game.

>Shoot them
>with your guns
>I think I need
>a bigger gun
What the actual fuck was going on with the songwriter?

I'm sorry, but your taste is objectively garbage.

HELLO?

Listen, the field themes were great. But the rest? Fucking trash/recycled trash from his other works. he is a fucking hack.

ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
FOUR!

Switch port when?

IS THING ON?

I CAN'T HEAR YOU
I CAN'T SEE YOU

AM I ALL ALONE?

And thus American as fuck. The entire game had a "20XX Americana according to the Japanese" thing going. Thematically very appropriate, but not an easy popcorn gaming experience.

IS THERE ANYONE THERE?

I finished Xenoblade 2 last night and absolutely loved, one of my favorite games from this year. Should I go back and play 1 and X now or will they feel unplayable at this point?

>Sup Forums is one person
Every time. Not sure how you people always mistake a group of individuals for a single entity, especially when you're part of that group yourself.

You can, they're just different. X in particular is an entirely different experience compared to which 2 is stronger in some areas and weaker in others.

XC1 will feel a little rough, but the story carries it. X is a completely different experience. Combat is going to be a step back either way.

>better than any Xeno games
its like you faggots never played Xenogears

Today's Sup Forums users weren't even born when Xenogears came out.

The director of the series wants it to happen so the ball is in Nintendo's court (which I'm sure they'll happily accept since it helps fight against the drought issues that Wii U had by putting in rereleases between their major releases like they did with MK8D and Pokken DX.

Not Sawano's best work but there were some very good tracks.

HELLO?

IS THIS THING ON?!

AM I ALL ALONE?!

I NEED A BIGGER GUN!

I'm 24 and Xenogears/FFVII were some of my first RPGs

2 and 1 has more consistent quality and better variet in its music but neither peaks as hard as X.

i hope it happens as long as the fix the late-game grind

UH

It has better music than XC2. XC2 has only a few good tracks, the others are either inoffensively bland or sound like a rehash of something from XC1.

I NEED A BIGGER GUN

If anything XB2 has worse qol changes
you could go back to them just fine

i have never been big on the OST since it is essentially Sawano remaking the same soundtrack he's made for the shows he worked on at around the same time as this. it's uninspired mess that bleeds together with the rest of his work but i have to say the stuff that sounds out REALLY stands out.

>If anything XB2 has worse qol changes
I think the map menu will be fixed in the upcoming patch, but yeah.

XC2 qol issues are far greater than just the map. This coming from someone who's favorite is XC2.

I unironically love X sound track and none of your SHITTERS can convince me otherwise.
UH
YEAH

I wish 2 had the same scale of the world as X has. 2 feels big when you first enter an area but they are actually all tiny areas.

ONE BY ONE

I fucking love the soundtrack for Xenoblade 2, but I haven't found a song as good as the Noctilum theme.

The map was the most glaring thing.
Another one is unskippable voiceovers during blade affinity gains, field skill procs.
It's okay for the first few times but as you play longer these little annoyances really add up.

>DUDE BIGGER IS BETTER XD
Fuck you and fuck your giant empty open world trash.

That's the main downgrade from X I'd say. Level design was still good but I didn't have that feeling of Hugeness, aside maybe with tantal.

>AWFUL
fuck you shit was neato as fuck. Out of place maybe but not bad

Oh yeah, I'm missing 3 rare blades but I don't feel like cracking open 99 common cores because it's gonna waste a huge amount of time from all the unskippable animations.

I just mentioned the first thing that came to mind, but I supposed there's also stuff like having to listen to each Blade's full line whenever they go on/come back from a merc mission or unlock a new skill on the affinity chart, or available quests not appearing on the map screen unless you're currenly on that titan, or having to go back into the affinity chart to actually unlock a new skill every time there's a notification without shortcuts, and so on. X was also full of menu navigation, but it felt way more convenient.

1 will fuck you over with sidequests in any big city or town as you can't set mini-points, but stil

At least map is better than in X. Who decided that the only way to see map is to squint at a tiny shitty gamepad screen while the game doesn't fucking pause?

The field themes were objectively god tier. Most people only have an issue with the vocal themes like the NLA ones and the admittedly god awful sound mixing in cutscenes.

Other than the really jarring base music NONE of the other tracks are bad. None.

YEAH

I unironically don't think the switch could handle X.

It has really low memory bandwidth. Rendering the world at the speed you can travel in X would make the switch shit itself. Why do you think you move so slow in 2

It's not that bad. Thought I'd hate it from listening to it, but in - game it ends up fitting pretty well.

OVER THE RAINBOW, GLORIOUS SIGHT

probably the same guy that decided you need to go 3 menus deep before you can even see the map you are on in 2.

>custscene starts
>can't hear what characters are saying because some nigger keeps farting in my ear
What the fuck were they thinking?

I'm convinced they didn't even play test Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I love the game but fuck me, what were they even thinking with some of the decisions they made.

You move slow in 2 because the world isn't as open as it was on Mira, obviously.

Of course Switch can handle Xenoblade X since it has much newer architecture and larger amount of RAM on top of other assets such as modern engine support for the latest Unreal and Unite engines.

I'm fairly certain that the only reason why there are memory leak issues and shoddy pop-in when fast travelling to towns is because the game was rushed to make it to the end of 2017.

It will also be getting patches alongside the DLC content that fix core problems that the game has so I'm sure optimization will be on that list as well.

>I unironically don't think the switch could handle X.
And you would be wrong.

I guess we'll wait and see

I love how that was still an issue in 2, sure they give you the option to lower it now but the default still overpowers the characters.

Sound mixing xc2 suffers f4om still. Youd think theyd have learned

This was some retarded shit and I'm glad they're gonna fix it for the new players.
So fucking tedious having to navigate through 3 menus every single goddamn time i needed to look at the shitting map.

The games have the same engine, 2 is more demanding, and the Switch has higher specs. There is no wait and see.

It was pretty much the antithesis of the western cinematic shooter. Combat is half numbers game including grinding for loot and half just positioning, the main story is half assed as fuck and the actual gameplay is what you're there for, and the game has never heard the term handholding.

I CAN'T HEAR YOU
I CAN'T SEE YOU

No, fuck you, the map being on the gamepad and forcing you to use it as the game goes on was a fantastic design choice and it made exploring Mira feel a lot more natural than if you had to pause and unpause all the time.

Christ this was an annoyance. I actually looked up certain NPC locations because i'd forget by the time I finished their sidequest. Frontier Village was probably the worst about it, but Alcamoth wasn't fun either.

ALL THINGS GONE FROM LEFT TO RIGHT

will a nigga PLEASE tell me how to enjoy this fucking game

I'll admit I didn't play for very long, but after all the hyping that Sup Forums did over it, I played it for a bit and found everything that you look for in a JRPG is missing, ie good cast of characters, some sort of plotline, addictive tunes etc.

No audio options was really annoying considering every fucking game has them nowadays.

I don't really mind the pop in since the load times are decent. I can live with like 5 seconds of potato on travel versus sitting on a loading screen until everything is perfect.

muh open world
muh mechs

It's not your average JRPG is why. It's about exploration first and foremost. Main story sucks dick, side quests are great. The world is just very well realized and a joy to explore while you fulfill your various tasks, and progressing from on-foot to mech to flying exploration is fantastic.
It's just a fairly unique game so it's hard to really compare it to other games, even in its own series.

You kidding? It had some really good tracks. Xenoblade chronicles had better music but X's is not that bad.
youtube.com/watch?v=wmdnpbmM4pc
Plus the sylvalum themes.

Why did they get Sawano when ACE+ and friends did a really good job on the first one? What's the deal with the Sawano guy anyway? I watched the Titan anime and I don't remember any particular music.

Did they give any comment about bringing back the first game's musician for the second?

THE WIND BLOWS HARD

Sawano's fantastic and we had confirmation ACE+ were back in the first trailer for 2.

ACE+ and friends likely wouldn't fit the setting of Mira.

Alrest is very similar in setting to the first game's Bionis and Mechonis.

Sawano's music is a good fit for the desolate (of humans at least) and mysterious planet Mira with the scifi setting in X.

Different games with different feels and themes. XC1 and 2 are love letters to shonen fantasy with a hidden backdrop of scifi. X was ALL AMERICAN MECH SCIFI.

HELP IF OYU CAN

>2 is more demanding

It has trouble rendering shit 20 feet in front of you. Now imagine traveling a hundred feet a second in the mechs.

Kek

I'm guessing they wanted sawano to help set the futuristic atmosphere.
He's worked on a few mecha anime and his work on Gundam Unicorn is regarded as his best soundtrack.

The overworld music was 10/10 but a lot of the other songs such as the regular battle theme could have done without vocals. Also fucking NLA day theme, god damn.

You're right in that it doesn't have the usual strengths of JRPGs but it does have a likable cast.
The 5 members of the cast that are given the spotlight during the main story are generally agreed to be the weakest of the 19 characters you get to control. You get exposure on the rest of cast through their affinity missions.
I'd say XCX's strong points are its exploration, its battle customization, your OC, the David Lynchian NPCs and the narratives during side quests.
>addictive tunes
The part of the OST you hear the most (New L.A., regular and skell combat) are the worst of the bunch. Even then, it really grows on you after 60 hours of gameplay which means you'll like it for 140 hours. All the tracks you hear during exploration aren't over the top, sound great and they only get better with each continent.

Don't forget the amazing side quests. Fucking manons, man.

>2fags STILL in damage control mode
lmao

A game that you're easily playing for 100hrs+ shouldn't have vocal music.

I disagree regarding combat music, the on-foot Tyrant theme is great. Also Cauldros' music is easily the worst of the continental themes, so they only really get better up to Sylvalum. Granted Sylvalum's theme is fucking fantastic.

LOOK OVER THERE IT'S A GOOOOOLD MIIIIIIINE

OUR LAST FIGHT
DO YOU REMEMBER

get gud

Came to this thread just to agree.
That game was gud but the fucking awful music was so offputting I played it on mute sometimes.
There is no option anywhere in the game to silence of quiet it either.

The horrible music and the ugly faces are why I returned the game

IF They port this game they better make that fucking font bigger

I completely forgot about this issue. That was my number one complaint, text made for ants.

They specifically stated 2 has big text because it has to be able to be played in handheld mode, so X would almost certainly follow suit.
