I'm in the market for a PC controller. Has to be wireless, just werk out of the box (No SCP toolkit or similar bullshit) and obviously no input lag
Is pic related still considered the best? I currently use a PS3 controller hooked via USB but I hate SCP with a passion and I want it to be wireless
I'm in the market for a PC controller. Has to be wireless...
Cool, a Sundowner controller
If you want no hassle you have to get an Xbox controller, so yeah.
Steam Controller.
>inb4 autists that never used it call it shit.
If you get an xbone controller remember to get the new versions(like the one you posted). Those are bluetooth enabled.
The new are the ones with the jack port?
not OP, but if I don't care about wireless, will
a simple USB cable work with xbone controller or do I have to do something fancy to get it to work wired?
I just got one, and a simple USB cable works fine
Second this. I got 2 of them and they are by and large the best, most customizable controller, and the community is also great for layouts.
Xbone controller if you're on Windows 10, and you only plan on using it with games that support dx-input.
Sega Saturn for retro games.
Steam controller for literally everything else.
Yes, the new ones are Bluetooth and have a 3,5mm jack for a headset
Good, i got the right one then
Isn't every game nowadays DX input enabled?
"AAA" western games that also have a console release, yes. You're gonna need a Steam Controller for everything else though.
So for those games that don't on a steam controller you just bind keyboard presses and mouse to the controller?
Functionality wise I agree. However is has a few rough edges that other controllers don't have.
anyone know the best way to map an non xbox controller so that certain games recognize it?
i heared about something called DS3, what else is there?
It doesn't meet your justwerks requirement, but I believe the PS4 controller has official Windows drivers. There are also unofficial ones that seem a whole lot less shady than SCP.
Otherwise, your only real options are the X1 and X360 pads.
>Has to be wireless, just werk out of the box
Then xinput is your only option, and your best bet for quality is the Xbone controller.
The 360 controller is a much sturdier controller, but the wireless receiver for it is total shit and will blow a fuse just from turning your computer on while it's still plugged in. I went through 3 of them before just buying a wired 360 controller. Got a wireless xbone controller with my Oculus Rift and it's nice but it doesn't feel remotely as sturdy as the 360 controller. It feels light and cheap, like it'll break in a few months. Much better dpad, though.
Can't attest to any off-brands that use xinput since I've never used any aside from fightpads.
>has to be wireless
why?
steam controllers fucking suck
There's heck of a lot more to it than that, but that's the basic gist of it.
>has to be wireless
>no input lag
Not gonna happen
>AND I OWN 2 OF EM
ill admit it was kind of cool trying to play skyrim and witcher with one but it was way too hard to pick alchemy ingredients
What about third party controllers? Any of them good? Like that Razer Xbox one?
I endorse Steam controllers. Used them at a friend's place and fucking love them.
Logitech F710 works right out of the box. Otherwise, do indeed go for an XO controller. I wanna buy a design labs one because they're the only ones that come with grip and don't have that shitty D-pad from the Elite controller.
Really wished Valve would put their heads out of their asses and release the SC 2.0, the OG one is great and as the dude above said, its rough around the edges, just a bit of tinkering and it would be one of the best.
it also helps that its cheap as fuck.
I wish they included a real d-pad worthy of high octane d-pad action. Decided to order one of pic related because it reminded me of the Saitek P2500 d-pad which is the BEST arcade game d-pad.
