THE SHAMAN GIRLS LINTHALO

thread theme
youtube.com/watch?v=Yk1ourOG0rM

a game whos reach exceeds its grasp

just finished the VN, now im laughing so hard, thanks m9

If it's anything like the anime, you get to watch an autist play with a microwave.

>what the fuck am I in for?
suffering

>Mayuri appears "NICE shaman girl"
>Hashida appears "holy cow"
>Luka appears "OH NO"
it's the details

Punished Linthalo fucking everything up by not just getting into the fucking taimu machine.

I don't regret playing 0, but it left me feeling underwhelmed in the end. Seems like mostly pointless exposition that was totally unneeded.

Also, they handled different routes horribly. The best thing about S;G was viewing all the different endings easily without repeated dialogue, and 0 goes in the complete opposite direction. Also felt like Suzuha got too much exposure due to her being popular, but whatever. Maho was likable enough that I didn't mind all that much in the end, and the memes from Leskinen were fantastic.

Try to get the Leskinen ending, it's easily the best route.

finished playing this one, it's honestly kamige

>they handled different routes horribly
my biggest gripe was they didn't show anything for okabe going back to the past to save mayuri and suzuha

literally what the fuck. how could you end it like that?

Potential sequel hook. It's an easy excuse to make another if they choose to do so, since S;G is easily their most popular game.

...

It served to get Okabe out of the way so that he wouldn't end up overwriting himself in 2025.

Honestly Zero may have been sloppier than that the original but for some reason I think I just enjoyed it more. I really love the tone of the game.

I liked that they both had that "everything is fucked and it's all your fault" vibe but the two had markedly different tones throughout.

It has some pretty strong scenes in there, buried within all the shit.

Sorta surprised more people didn't go apeshit over Okabe's "both Kurisu AND Mayuri are my Orihimes!" comment at the end though.

A flawed game with one good new girl

They will once the anime airs.

hey

God I love boisterous Westerner stereotypes.

depressed Okabe
many feels

>what am I in for
A lot of wasted potential hopefully the anime cuts a lot of the shit and makes better use of the good ideas the VN had

Has there ever been an anime that sincerely improves on the VN that spawned it?

i liked it a lot. i thought more grounded and broken Okabe was a better character than he was in 1, and the revival at the end is that much better because of it

it's basically a PTSD and despair simulator

No, but this is being made by the only studio to make a good VN adaptation, the S;G anime, so there's a chance. They're apparently taking pretty big liberties with it by combining all of the separate routes, so hopefully they'll trim the fat and fix some of the stupid shit

This one. It's really relaxing, as long as I don't try to read it all in one sitting.

I want more Leskinen moments and more engrish

It's more likely that they'll completely break it, but if they manage to pull it off I'll be very impressed.

>that scene where okabe goes back into the beta world line and meets kurisu again

i cried a lot

I'm juggling Clannad and Little Busters.

I disliked it a lot because of how hard the writers tried to make Daru cool. They didn't even succeed either because they just did the typical Japanese thing of just making everyone around him incompetent to make him look better.

Don't especially dislike Daru or anything but I don't need his character shoved down my throat as hard as it was in 0.

Started MYTH. Got no time to read it during next week because of university, though.

Disappointment
A really lackluster ending
Confusing and messy story that doesn't hold a candle to the original

It has it's good moments and is worth a read, but don't expect anything amazing. Maho's great though.

>she tries to make him leave on an errand so he isn't around when she pushes the button and kills herself

I'm going to warn you right now user so you don't get disapointed.
MYTH is kind of a Remember11 situation where the writers ran out of time before finishing it.
It still tells a nice story but prepare to be a bit disapointed.

youtu.be/2Og5pnzzoUc

Oh, alright. Thanks for the warning.

>They're apparently taking pretty big liberties with it by combining all of the separate routes, so hopefully they'll trim the fat and fix some of the stupid shit

Hopefully that means removing Kagari's character completely.

What a fun ride that VN was.

When is the anime planned to come out?

Playing 水葬銀貨のイストリア.

Overall I'm not that far in, but characters are likeable, art good and mysteries intriguing, so I can recommend it.

April 2018.

A lot of people didn't like the tonal shift after Invention, but I think it was great. Jabberwocky chapter gave me a lot of feels but nothing will top Invention Kimika ending. youtu.be/r8mW5_wiNGo

Amadeus was such an amazing concept that they really didn't do enough with

Disapointment if you're expecting anything on the orginal's level.

This. S;G actually managed to pull off a theme of scientific ethics, why couldn't they do the same with AI's? It's only mentioned very briefly. Wasted potential (like the entirety of Zero, actually).

I thought you'd get to interact with it more, but nope. S;G0 was a mistake.

Never finished Tsukihime should I finish it this winter break?

It's basically "Punished Okabe, a Man Denied His Waifu". Not as good as S;G, but pretty decent on the whole. Also Maho is unironically best girl.

There was such a perfect opportunity to develop Amadeus Kurisu and Okabe during the USSR timeline, but then they just dropped it suddenly. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking.

The AIs are more plot devices than characters. It's really disappointing.

delet this

Suzu is so fucking cute.

I've been inching my way through it myself. Makes me miss when I was a NEET and would marathon something ridiculously long like Higurashi in a couple of days, now I'm lucky if I get 2-3 hours a week.

Definitely getting this vibe right now though since I'm apparently getting pretty close to the end, but there must be a dozen plot strings that don't make any sense yet, and it's hard to imagine what sort of miracle it would take to make it all come together with only a few hours left. Still enjoying the ride though

>Also Maho is unironically best girl.
Patrician taste user.

I was very disappointed when time travel ended up being more important than Amadeus, especially since the time travel was horribly implemented this time

It's shit

the shaman girls meme is the only good thing about it

Time travel is Steins;Gate's theme and gimmick. It'd be like having a Chaos VN without delusions. That said they absolutely should have focused on Amadeus more. All that time wasted on Kagari could have been spent on Amadeus and developing Mayuri's friends more.

Is that David Bowie?

If they removed Kagari entirely and replaced it with more Maho and Amadeus the game would be far better with that alone.

Finished G-senjou no maou couple days ago, i will propably replay Grisaia no Kajitsu and move on to Meikyuu and Rakuen they haven't been translated when i was reading Kajitsu

>Suzuha is just another muh daddy issues character, since I guess Kurisu is absent and we don't have anyone to cover that shit in this
>"Okabe suffering" just amounts to him taking anti-depressants while dealing with Daru being even more obnoxious than before (in fairness to Daru, hacker characters are always terrible so I can cut him some slack, he just meets the low expectations I already have for him)
>literally everything about Kagari
>that crappy Moeka route just so that the writers can say that they did something with her
It's pretty bad, killed any further interest I had with the series even. A handful of good scenes here and there wasn't enough to carry it.

the s;g anime is bad

Hell, they could have spent more time on Maho and Kurisu's relationship before Kurisu went to Japan in 2010 too.

>Suzuha is just another muh daddy issues character

Steins;Gate 0 almost on par with the original. This is a fact.

being a contrarian is bad

Beated utawa 2 a couple of days ago. Going to wait before I start 3.

It's enjoyable and nowhere near as bad as the whining makes it seem, but it's not at that level.

How's utawarerumono? I haven't read many VNs but is it comparable quality wise with steins;gate or zero escape? Also do you need to play uta1 before mask of deception?

You do.
You'll be pretty lost for a lot of the best moments of the 3rd game if you haven't.

It starts off pretty slow but it gets better in the second half and the moments. I would put it as Steins > utawa > zero escape.

Watching the uta1 anime will cover you reasonably well if you're short on time, they're doing a remaster of the first game apparently.

...

i genuinely dislike it and don't know how anyone that played the game could like it

Other than Kurisu's hair color and Nae it ain't so bad. Of course, I'll always recommend reading the VN first, but still.

Moeka is so lewd.

...

>moeka just cut up and rotting in her apartment in most of s;g0

wew

It's what she deserves to be honest.

Utawarerumono 2+3 are both very, very good and probably the best english translated VNs to be released this year.

Little Busters! It's my first Key game and I underestimated how long it was going to be. Also I think I know the twist already because they are not subtle about it in the the second playthrough. If it's what I think it is I'll be really disappointed they couldn't think of something more unique.

Where did it all go wrong bros? This VN was supposed to be better than the original Steins;Gate, not worse than Steins;Gate 0

>VNs

No thanks.

Why are you even in a thread about visual novels? Why post at all?

the only thing that went wrong here is your taste because holy shit, kill yourself. C;C is unironically one of the best VNs of all time and blows S;G out of the water.

PC when

WHY DON'T THEY LIKE MY CHARACTER ROUTES WHERE HINAE DOES NOTHING BUT ACT LIKE A RETARD AND HANA SUMMONS WACKY ZANY OBJECTS AND UKI USES HER SECRET MIND HACKS AND NONO DRAGS OUT HER PRECIOUS FAMILY SLICE OF LIFE TIME

Chaos;child is bad stupid faggot
The big plot twist reveal in true route Chaos Child Syndrome doesn't really add anything to the plot, it felt forced and unnecessary. This plot point could be removed from the story and hardly anything would change. If anything it felt like it was forced in to hopefully add that shocking plot twist factor for the reader, but it came across as underwhelming and unneeded. Also adds plot holes that just ruins parts of the story. Like why did Serika attend Hekiho unquestioned when she clearly doesn't have the Sydrome. Or why Senri still look old despite having the ability to perfectly imitate someone's appearance?
Taku and Serika in the earthquake. Taku's wish, creation, and purpose for Serika Onoe doesn't make any sense. Taku wishing for Serika Onoe to give him something to do felt out of place considering the situation. He was in a middle of a very crazy situation with the earthquake devastation and was traumatized by his shitty parents and the kids who scoffed at him for not helping the lady in need. Right when he was about to be taken about his parents he wanted them go away, and thus Serika was born and killed his parents. But instead they thrown in a random ass wish where he wanted something to do in a traumatizing situation. Serika's purpose would've made more sense if it was related to making people go away, not giving Taku something to do.
True route ending Taku getting the blame for everything was a forced bad ending. It made sense in the common route because of the doctor mind controlling law officials into think Taku did it despite the lack of evidence. Now that doctor died and the mind control is no longer a factor, Taku should obviously been seen as innocent for the lack of evidence and also has an alibi for some of the murders such as the love hotel murder and the net reporter murder. Just a bad ending that doesn't make any sense on why it should happen.

Juniper's Knot

I think I'm starting to learn that /jp/ elitists have really terrible taste in media and just like to pretend that JP only content that the rest of us can't read is inherently superior. Notice how that kind of talk evaporates almost immediately when a lot of these VNs come out in English.

source?

this, it's always like fucking that

It's absolutely hilarious that the big name VNs came out this such as Subahibi, Dies Irae, and Chaos;Child got released this year and yet there are hardly any discussions about them in comparison to DDLC.

anonymous;code when

I have Zero unopened still and I'll be getting Chaos;Child when I finally have time to play it. Why buy it now for full price?

DDLC gets so much talk because it's free and most of Sup Forums is underage.

I started with Mask of Deception and main character has amnesia, so I don't feel like I'm missing much. The game is long as balls. I want to fuck Rulutieh.

But there is so much more to talk about with Dies Irae and Subahibi which are both free as well via piracy. And I hardly ever seen anyone talk about Subahibi in visual novel threads, especially when it's much more interesting than DDLC and can invoke alot of discussions involving the plot.
