It's pretty amazing indeed, I recently finished 1 and 2 on Xbone. Never played 3 tho, it is really that bad as people say?
It has pretty good graphics and gameplay. RE4 holds up decently too and it's even older.
pretty fucking great
no, 3 is still a great game. don't listen to the cocksucking losers here who've played it on easy.

DaS3 isn't hard in any concievable way.
It's actually useful so you can explore the wrong way before you go the right way.
What's wrong with it?
...
Just don't use it, faggot
I miss the map of DS1, but it wasnt a big deal. I also didnt even know you could locate save points, benches, and stores till my 3rd playthrough so w/e
...
Kinda. Its good until halfway through then becomes horrible
Dead Space 1 and 2 might just be my favorite games of all time
I know the flaws with them and everything but there aren't any other games I think on as fondly as them
...
In recent memory theirs also RE7 ZombiU Alien Isolation and TEW1 and 2.
I like MandaloreGaming too
Posting fanart covers
does anyone have any Dead Space 2 webms?
it's somehow even more atmospheric and gorgeous than the first
1>2>3
Who the fuck is mandaloregaming and why is that relevant

Ps3 tier games age pretty good with enhanced resolution

>EA killed them after trying to meddle too much and then probably blamed the studio instead
Like clockwork.

As much as I fucking love the retarded alt-fire in the first game, what fucking purpose could this possibly have had in the designer's mind?
Was every soldier using them going to be a lone wolf and regularly surrounded by hostiles without guns?
Tts /ourguy/. Been with us since Tribes:A
youtube.com
Anyone else not enjoy 2 as much as the 1st? I haven't gotten that far in but the pacing and action have been annoying me
The ripper was my favorite weapon ever
Fucking telekinetic sawblades that just spin around and fuck shit up
Like a ranged chainsaw
>Not playing through the game exclusively with the plasma cutter
The first two games aren't hard either
Once you get past the "CUT OFF THE LIMBS CUT OFF THE LIMBS DONT SHOOT THEM IN THE BODY CUT OFF THE LIMBS" parts. It's pretty good.
It also still has the best entirely diagetic UI system I've seen in a game.
That has nothing to do with the implication from your first post.
Yeah, the cutter is god tier, but the other weapons are fun
Contact beam in the second one makes me hard
>that fucking reload
It departs too much from what made 1 good. 2 was a balance between 'we need more action and less atmosphere' which was heavily leaning toward wanting the CoDfags, and still took a lot away of what made the game great initially.
3 is an action 3rd person shooter / light suspense game.
>more atmospheric
It was totally a step down
Its worse than 1 and 2 but its not unplayable or anything. Just ignore the DLC if you play it.
of course this image exists
>limiting yourself to the most boring weapon when the game offers an amazing arsenal
Never understood this meme.
Plasma Cutter isn't even the most ammo effective or highest damage per shot weapon and overall pales on impossible difficulty.
>ignore the DLC
Nigga the DLC ending was what the franchise needed
Full on cosmic horror to redeem the retardation of the third game
Did anyone else find the line guns primary fire in 2 kinda weak? You might as well use the plasma cutter. The alt fire bomb is great though.
the electric harpoon in 2 is my favorite, even better with the upgrade
BZZZZZZZZZZ-BANG
Force gun is my fucking waifu
I prefer the first one. Second is more of an action game. Still great though. Stomping on things in 2 is fun as fuck, Isaac starts swearing when you stamp on something enough times, always made me kek
This is like some Anton Chigur shit blowing people away with an air compressor.
>How does this game hold up so well a near decade later?
Pretty well, actually.
Good lighting > Good textures
Feels good letting them jump on your face just to get torn to shreds.
Requires some good timing though, first time I played I entirely disregarded it because I didn't know how to use it for kills.
This user gets it.
as the obviously most inspired entry in the series, I've beat it at least five times.
What if you're behind cover being shot at without the opportunity to exit said cover, and you could just stick up your barrel, and it fills the room with bullets for you?
Sounds useful to me...
Because it's fun
IIRC the unupgraded Pulse Rifle was used in riots rather than as a lethal weapon.
Dead Space 2 is the perfect video game sequel. Improves on literally every aspect of the first game. Prove me wrong
And kill your team mates next to you?
>pacing is way off, more action game less fun atmosphere
>gives you power cores before you even get a gun or reach a workbench
>every enemy kills you in one hit and you also kill every enemy in one to two hits
I ended up getting every trophy except There's Always Peng! before I sold my games collection, one day maybe.
That wasn't me user. I do think 3 is the hardest of the trilogy though
I like to pretend it's just Isaac putting his engineering skill to use and modiefied the rifle.
Who really killed Altman?
no, Dead Space 2 was almost an uncharted tier action game.
They were probably used as traps or mines. You hide one somewhere and wire it up so that when a group of enemies set it off they get fucked up.
Poor poor Issac.
He had a hard life
That's mostly because 3 was balanced for two players. They made every single enemy way too fast so it just turns into a twitch shooter.
E N T E R I N G
Z E R O
G R A V I T Y
...
Yeah, EA pretty much shit-fucked the series to the ground with long tutorials and making it 10x more repetive than the games before. tl:dr it lost the charm from the old games.

Suit level three looks so damn good. One of my favorites.
It's also unintrusive. There isn't a giant "OBJECTIVE 90meters" at some point in the distance that's constantly at the edge of your screen.
It doesn't.
Just use the rivet minigun and spam stasis
Dead Space is still one of the absolute best examples of a HUD in a game that I can think of.
EA kills everything it touches. It's in its nature.
I played Dead Space 1 last year for the first time and found the game a total slog.
Unlike RE4 it doesn't constantly keep throwing new shit at you and it all feels one note as fuck, like the only thing that breaks up the game is the zero-g stuff. Which is fucking neat but nowhere near enough. Shame to because I love the premise.
Anyone else disappointed with how they ended up characterizing the Marker after the first game? I personally liked it more as an incomprehensible, sort of neutral force as it influences / brainwashes the colonists to do its bidding but in doing so would also want them to return it to where it came from, which would also pacify the necromorphs / the hivemind. Unitologist hardliners seemed to work contrary to the Marker's own intents, glorifying the necromorph transformation of mankind instead of working on returning it. The real main antagonists seemed to be irresponsible Earth government who experimented on ancient alien shit they should have no business touching. Dead Space 2 on the other hand went overboard silly with Marker's hostility and turned it into an active main antagonist.
Graphics wise? Because it relies on lighting more than textures or models, so it'll always look pretty good.
I agree
Visceral was called EA Redwood until after DS came out. They have never been separate entities.
Did you play the third game where you literally kill the big bad, who is a planet sized Necromorph, by shooting dozens of Markers at him, jesus christ I didn't even make that up, it still hurts so much
>turns a qt waifu into an ugly old hag
it hurt so much
The acid vomit one always got me
Why do you think they changed?
Cool reviewr guys who has recently been doing review videos for Deadspace 1, 2, and 3 (which came out a few days ago)
>EA Redwood
>"not only did Resident Evil 4 alter their ideas for the System Shock game, but it also helped Schofield to convince EA's management to let them pursue a new title. The game became known as Dead Space" - wiki
Huh, I was not aware of that.
Martyr is a pretty fun book
The name? Because the game was a success and EA decided they should do more of that I guess? This was the, relatively short, period were EA was doing good things.
I remember being mad when I heard DS2 was being made by "Visceral" because I thought they gave it to some other studio.
Dead Space has some of the best audio design ever.
So the Brethren Moons were planned from the first game right?
