just learn moonrunes.

Take too long
Also too hard

I'd say it takes long rather than being hard. Anyone who consistently studies should have a pretty good grasp in 2 years. I mean legit studying too though not watching anime without subs or w.e bullshit a weeb does.

>legit studying consistently for years
I have never done that in my life

You can (not) learn Japanese.
The need to keep a kanji dictionary on hand to play things ruined the experience of new games for me. I gave up a couple years ago.

If you had kept at it you'd probably not need it anymore. I felt the same way before but kept pushing on.

Balancing meager free time, depression, and study proved to be insurmountable for me. Good on you for learning, user. Now you don't have to be SE's bitch waiting for Dragon Quest localizations like me.

Really wish the music was better. Especially the battle tracks.

But the battle music is the best in the series.

Would you mind posting some webms? If I remember right, you made a few.

Normal battle is pretty decent I'll admit, but i've heard better from other tracks.
The colosseum battle tracks was really good.

I made a bunch.

Why don't you bring back /jrpgg/ so we can have fun, just like the old days?

So many Dragon Quest threads lately. Something happen?

Someone who really wants to play XI in English is crying out for stimulation.

We can't have nice things for too long.

So can you play as other people in your party?

You mean like switching your playable on the world map? Nope.

Moonrunes aren't actually that hard, 文法 is what fucks me over

>legit studying too though not watching anime without subs or w.e bullshit a weeb does.
I learned japanese through watching anime, reading manga and playing games. I even recently passed N1. Some people just learn things through different methods.

This game is so sexist...

This turnabout is very satisfying.

Were those your only sources though? I'm talking about the people who only use those and nothing else.

But you can control the other characters during combat right?

You're joking right? That's Looney Tunes level jokes that's been around for decades.

Buy my game!
what if...
twitter.com/Nachi_missyi/status/917350809427251200

Yes.

lie

Of course. You'd see a huge amount of outrage in Japan if you couldn't.

Well, my uncle does give me his Japanese motorcycle magazines, but that's it I guess.

Looney Tunes was a product of a sexist af time period.
Pepé Le Pew literal date rapist.

>twitter.com/Nachi_missyi/status/917350809427251200
Voice acting?! Since when does it have that?

Do you have learning disabilities?

But it has this

Yep Yep

You'd see a huge amount of outrage from me if you couldn't as well. Should be able to choose player control character in the overworld though, there's really no reason not to.

I've never played Dragon Quest
I have a 3DS, which order should I play them in?

>I'd say it takes long rather than being hard
What does it even change? When something is hard you pay with a longer time investment to learn it so there is no difference. Also it's actually hard because you completely need to change the way you think with this language.

It doesn't, I hope you like hearthstone
youtu.be/faLudZ3vco0

4, 5, 8, 6, 7.
Any order works, honestly. I recommend starting with 4, 5, or 8 though, although the PS2 version of 8 is better than the 3DS version, and the DS version of 4 doesn't have party chat. 5 (DS) might be the best starting point for you.

Different guy but I think it changes plenty. Something easy could still take a longer time investment. The hardest part of Japanese is the kanji and when it comes to Dragon Quest you have Furigana anyway so it shouldn't matter much.

...

>tfw you're a wageslave who finally gave into the mobage menace to keep yourself sane during down time with only your phone
>DQ mobage are all region-locked and never localized

I'm having a lot of fun with it actually. You only need to be able a very tiny amount of moon to play too.
Just get a cheap vpn user. Some are 25-30 a year.

Mobage is great if you find the right game and don't actually pay. Currently going through Destiny Child.

I should probably try out DQ Rivals

The expressions in this game are really damn good.

Kanji is the easiest part next to kana.

Dragon Quest is never getting another localization in the west. The franchise just simply has no audience outside of Japan

Yeah, they are.
Misread your post

I beat DQ11 a few months back. It was okay but it lacked any superbosses so there's no real endgame. That really bugs me.

2017 hasn't been a very good year for JRPGs. Ive been craving a really really good one lately and IMO FFXV, Berseria, Persona 5, and DQ11 were just kinda above average-ish.

Thanks
Looking forward to XI

This seems like a good opportunity. Any of you dorks know this kanji? Trying to translate something. Looks like somebody taking a dump.

Hardest as in there's a fuck ton to memorize.

鳴る

No different than the vocabulary in any language. Just learn the words, not the kanji.

Nah, only around 2000. What you mean is vocabulary. To build the 40k words necessary for fluency will take a fuck long time.

In that case someone who already has a good grasp on the vocabulary should have an easier time right? A buddy of mine understands almost fluently but was never taught how to read and shit.

Thanks buddy.

...

Obviously it will be far easier but there will be still a shitload of grinding.

That's Toriyama and Dragon Quest for you.

...

>No different than the vocabulary in any language. Just learn the words, not the kanji.
Well, yeah, you have to learn not only the words but how to read them. While most languages aren't phonetic, they also don't include thousands of ideographs

But thats true for any language that uses a different writing style. At least kanji gives you hints. If you see "帰宅" in a game, you have a clue that it means to return(somewhere), and 帰る is a pretty entry-level kanji to learn. Which is different from something like korean where you get no hints at all.

Japanese is objectively poorly designed.

Well it isn't even designed, just a clusterfuck of stolen bits of the chinese rearranged.

When learning Moon my biggest hurdle was to stop translating it into English. Like when I read a sentence rather than understanding it as is, I had the habit of translating it back to English. Doubling the time it takes to read anything.

Yep. Translating and understanding is WAY different from each other.

Perhaps the same could be said of all languages.

NO bravely Default first!!!

Anymore webms of these girls?

Not really. Japan actively refuses to make changes. They tried to add phonetic sounds because japan is extremely cucked when it comes to phonetic sounds but the japanese people are too retarded to use them so they use the common ones instead which produces tons of wrongly pronounced words for the sole reasons that the japanese are cunts who refuse to change.

Meanwhile korea completely redesigned their language for the better and more efficient and everyone is happy.

Nah just that one.

I hear that a lot from people who give excuses on why they wont/can't learn it, but whatever.

Have you played Xenoblade 2 yet? I quite enjoyed that, even if the story wasn't as good as the first one.

It's fucking garbage

ok

How do I stop myself from doing this?

I fucking need it nintendo on the switch

I dont have a Switch.

Keep reading things and reminding yourself.
Eventually it just goes away.

Also helps to try to immerse yourself a bit. Change the language of your 3ds into Japanese.

That too. I've had my facebook set to Japanese for the last couple of years.

口 means a mouth
鳥 means a birds
鳴 means making a sound

How long have you anons been studying?

>Looks like somebody taking a dump.
Fuck. That's all I'm going to see now.

I don't know if this will work for you, but when I'm translating I think of the people who will read what I'm translating and think if what I'm writing would be pleasing to read, but when I'm just reading think of yourself like the most selfish person, just understand what the meaning of the sentence that you're reading, and then move on the next one.

Somebody PLEASE gas the feminist.

That's just a troll.

It's a long shot, but do you have any webms of any mimic-type monsters?

You got DQ Builders, didn't you?

Yes, and I'm considering buying it again for the Switch because I'm pathetic and think SE will care.
