Is it really that bad?

Is it really that bad?

Nah. Youtubers "hate" it for le crazy reaction videos and it snowballed from there.

It's actually a much higher quality game than many of the recent Sonic titles.

Too me it's bad but not as bad as people say it is the story is shit but the music is good I recommend the PC demo verison

Yes, don't let Adventurefags make you feel that it was anything else. PUBG has more polish than this mess, and Shadow the Hedgehog is more enjoyable.

it controlled terribly. It took a decade to load, even longer on the 360.
"its no use"
I'd say, yeah, it really is still bad..

Pretty bad, mainly down to controls that seemed to just spaz out sometimes and a camera that was less helpful than in Resident Evil.

Considering the development woes this thing went through it's genuinely a miracle that it runs at all.

To be quite honest, When I played it on the Xbox 360, I had little to no bugs or glitches in the entire game, sure there were a few hiccups here and there with the controls and frame rate. but overall the game isn't what everyone always talks about it to be, that or I am incredibly fucking lucky with the copy I got.

> the state of Sup Forums

It's kino.

Imagine a game being so bad it's considered bad even for Sonic standards.

Camera tries too hard for cinematic angles that make certain sections way harder than they should be, controls are very sensitive and fussy, certain characters like Rouge control very badly, and Sonic's story is awful.

It's a broken unfinished piece of shit but other than that it's somewhat playable.

>rushed for christmas and sonic's 15th anniversary so plenty of visual and gameplay glitches. there's even an audio outtake present in shadow's campaign.
>auto-run segments that take control away from you can end up killing you, despite the game running on auto pilot for those segments
>sonic stages tend to finish with long trial and error segments where you run incredibly fast and where enough mistakes can force you to redo the already long stages
>silver is incredibly slow and only in the game to show off the physics the physics engine
>shadow is there just because he's shown to be popular in marketing but doesn't really add anything to the story
>romance between sonic and elise is not believable, beastiality rumors aside, because the only interaction they have is sonic having to rescue her and sonic going "you should smile more"
>story takes itself way too seriously and is needlessly dark and complicated for the basic story that the game tells; guy rescues princess from evil.
>boring hubworld that forces you to do irrelevant side quests just to continue the game
I played it because I believed it to be a "you have to see it to believe it" type of experience (like The Room for instance) and it's just as bad as people say it is.

It's fucking garbage, but it's so bad that it actually becomes somewhat enjoyable. It's very fun to play with a group of people.

It is. Nothing about it has changed. It's still incomplete from being rushed, buggy, glitchy, has terribly long and constant loading screens, awkward controls, and other questionable design choices like the forced quests, story, and speed segments. The two things it has going for it are the music and that it's in a playable state. Even if you let all of the bad settle in and find it okay to play (or experience), it's still an objectively bad game that left a permanent scar on the franchise.

It's an unpolished ripoff of the original Sonic Adventure. So if nothing else it's guilty of self-plagiarism. Bad self-plagiarism at that.

Its not bad as any other 3D sonic game.

>Bought this when I first got an Xbox-360 years ago because Sonic nostalgia
>Only ever managed to beat the Shadow episode
>Got stuck on at least one mission in Sonic/Silver's episode because of bugs

It's playable and I know it's beatable but I just got disheartened. Music is good though.

I had the same experience as a kid on my ps3, tho I wasnt connected to the internet so I didnt get any downloads for patches since I assume theyd put some out

I can't believe people are actually defending it now. Probably because it was their first game.

Not at all, it's far better than people say it is.

Yes, this game was Fucking garbage and anyone who tells you otherwise never actually played the Fucking game. Shit was God damn unplayable at points, bugs literally everywhere, the story was trash, the controls were slippery shit, and the game literally retcons itself. There is legitimately no reason to play this game.

Yes the Adventure games are actually good

To add to this mephiles was really cool and sonic team was fucking gay to waste him on this piece of shit.

I have the same feeling towards Black Arms and GUN

Yes, it's a Sonic game.

Is it "really that bad" in the sense that it's "literally the worst game ever"? Nah. It's not even the worst Sonic game ever released. (That honor would go to Sonic Genesis, a port of Sonic 1 on the GBA that was so bad a fan had to come in and fix it for Sega. He later went on to help code Mania.)

It is, however, incredibly clunky and blatantly unfinished. There's points in the game where the voice actor flubs his line and they didn't have time to remove it. That's how rushed this game was. Do a little research into this game's development because it explains a LOT about why the game is what it is, and it's also yet another example of how fucking retarded Sega of Japan is. (Unsurprisingly, Forces appears to have had a similar development cycle, and while not nearly as unpolished, the game is clearly rushed.)

I've played and beaten the 360 version multiple times, and it's not unplayable. It's basically a much more fragile and much less endearing Sonic Adventure 1 + some elements from 2. That is to say, the game ranges from very mediocre to bad. It's like a 5/10, and I'm being charitable because as I said the game is so blatantly unfinished it seems unfair to bash it too harshly. Like, yeah, this part is bad because it wasn't finished. Oh boy I'm so steamed! Anyway, if the game had been finished it might have been halfway decent.

No amount of dev time and polish is gonna fix that bizarre, tryhard, "Dollar Store Final Fantasy" ripoff plot, though.

It's one of the buggiest, most broken games ever released in any franchise on any platform, ever.

People who tell you otherwise haven't played it.

I played it quite a bit and I disagree. though I was 12 at the time

>though I was 12 at the time

>Sup Forums is so contrarian that people are defending Sonic fucking '06

Yes

It's not really defence. The game is ass and an even bigger disappointment, but it's not as bad as it's reputation would make you think. If you take away the glitches, the load times, the cut scenes/story/voice acting. You have the foundation for a decent game. There's even a project to remake it to it's full potential.

>That honor would go to Sonic Genesis, a port of Sonic 1 on the GBA that was so bad a fan had to come in and fix it for Sega.
Sonic Genesis on GBA is horrible, yes, but it came out in 2006 on a console that was practically dead because the DS had already been out for 2 years at that point. It was a port no one asked for.

Sonic 06 the first Sonic game on a next generation console meant to mark the 15th anniversary of everything that was Sonic. To hold them to the same standards is kinda unfair.

>if you just take away the entire game the game is good

Its not terrible but its cringy with shadow driving war jeeps and blowing stuff up, and silver roleplaying future trunks and shit. Its a huge let down from sonic adventure games. Good OST. They were so proud of the main theme they put like 10 versions in the game.
