I dont know about you guys but I was eager to play this, when I finally got the chance it was meh, mainly because I didn't feel the weight of the parkour freerunning like in Mirror's Edge

Because the movement is phenomenal, the day/night shit is done well, the combat is intense and brutal and the devs are based enough to still make free DLC.

The fun of parkour is block behind a fucking big grinding wall. I finished the game and I still didn't reach the last level where the fun begins.
That's why I modded this game to have infinite weapon durability.
First zombie game with crafting that actually pulled off the tension and risk/reward of staying in high concentration zones without getting grindy. Also the animations and basic QTE's aren't intrusive and don't interrupt the flow of gameplay while keeping you grounded as something other than a head-height floating camera.
Seriously, the parkour isn't world class but it's next to flawless considering the conditions the game takes place in and how it's used. Now, the perks suck and tend to give you must haves at a few power spike levels, but there's enough variety for it to avoid being the way Far Cry 3 was.
I like the way the devs handled it. It's a sharp game that doesn't overstep what it is. I'm looking forward to Techland's next game, really. Seems like they learned a lot after the trainwreck that was Dead Island 1.

the game changes drastically as you level up the skill trees. Imo if you get the vaulting over zombies skill and eventually the ones that let you run a longer amount of time it's really great.
I love mirror's edge and I love this game (and it has a grapple hook to cheese the fuck out of parkour so that's nice too)

The start of the game plays completely differently to the rest. The start is like a survival horror, by the end it's more like an action game

Parkour is fantastic, flows incredibly smoothly while still having weight to it. Combat is a tedious grind till you get the level 9 head stomp ability. Nighttime is tense and never feels unfair. It's usually your own fault for getting spotted, but shaking off a pursuit is doable if very nerve wracking. The weakest element by far is the main plot, but the side quests are usually well done so they make up for it.

You can't strap fucking phone batteries to a samurai sword or butane torches to a bat and have it make it better either fag, nor can you grapnel hook your way super fast across an entire city. Dying Light is cartoonish to the extreme already who the fuck cares.

My one problem with the game, virals should feel like a consequence for using louder, more powerful weapons and whatnot but instead they throw like 5 of them at you because a hidden timer ticked down.
Also i love the main game but the following just doesn't feel very fun, is there something i'm doing wrong?

They made the beginning incredibly hard/tedious combat-wise to smarten people up for when they're laughably OP later game, it's proof that dev teams can quit and go do their own thing if they feel like publishers are smothering their creativity, and finally Techland is fiercely devoted to what they've created.
They've never stopped supporting the game, even when it's borderline unreasonable this late after release. It's got better humor and better drama than Dead Island (even if the story sucks we can agree that DI was shit), and it's just better quality. I know this seems like a shilly post, but Techland has subverted the usual route of dev teams getting destroyed while remaining true in the process. I actually, really admire them and their game. Can't wait for this Bad Blood thing they're coming out with, I hope it's more than a half-way PUBG clone. I like Dying Light.

Ignore the haters. DL's guns have never been "realistic," so using normal ammo for two guns that are laughably shit compared to the other available guns is perfectly reasonable. Would give a lot more reason to use these rinky dink pea shooters.
yeah, they come out for EVERYTHING. wish they only reacted to gunshots and explosions, but every firecracker, car alarm, or breath taken sets them off. it's really bothersome at the beginning, but later they're just flies to swat at.

Analog? You mean like hold click and move the mouse to control swing direction? It's a nice thought, but it would've slowed combat down, since you'd be unable to swivel or change targets without a jerk from ending the swing mode. It would've been cool, but precision doesn't matter too much when loosing an arm doesn't stop them
