WoD is really the low-point of story-telling in WoW. Bad concept, bad execution, dropped story lines all over the place. Best thing they could've done to recover would be Archimonde dropping a comet on Draenor at the end of the fight. Everyone dies, no need to come back.
Maybe Gul'dan could do some big fel portal to send himself (and us accidentally) back to Azeroth, which would've mirrored the start of the expansion where we inadvertently saved him.
There's lots of little fuck-ups and missed chances in the game but WoD really stands out.

Somewhere along the line I think blizzard regrets WoD. The new Chronicles book sort of shows that once Metzen left the new Cdevs who came in were probably the type that ranted angerly about how poorly handled WoW lore was. These new guys really want to pretend WoD never happened.

Sylvanas isn't a mary sue, more like a tug-O-war character. Whenever you have a big long going franchise you have different creative devs try to insert their dick into the idea of character only for it to later be fucked with by another who thought the former's idea was stupid.
This kind of shit happens in comic books way too often. I think the one Sup Forums is familiar with is when Ken Penders started a war with the other writers with each book written fucking over the formers idea.
At one point Sylanas as Kerrigan, then she was made completely evil, then she was made to be sympathetic, her character changes constantly as each new Cdev tries to set a path for her.
I think the writer from cata and MoP basically wanted her dead.

after she burns it down Elune will slowly give Slyvanas all of her powers and at the end of BfA she will Glow blue and.
then Azerroth will give Slyvanas her powers as well so she will glow Red
Then she will become the new leader of the horde And alliance and everyone bows to her except Graymane who will try and stop her their.
Graymane's daugter will shoot him and proclaim and swear allegiance to slyvanas and says she will strike down anyone who would dare hurt the new queen of Azeroth
