Dragon Quest X has the most consistent subscriber base ever. Why won't SE give it to us?

Dragon Quest thread.

>X constantly beats XIV in sales
>Dragon Quest destroys Final Fantasy in Japan
>Dragon Quest with minimal marketing sells well here.
Why don't we get it?

because it's fucking shit and sells like shit in the west

dq8 only sold over 1m in the west because it came with ff12 demo

dq9 only sold over 1m in the west because it was on ds and not a fucking mmo

all the 3ds dqs sold shit despite having the same level of marketing as 8 and 9

dq10 is a shitty mmo no one gives a fuck about dq in the west so noone will give a fuck about an mmo

>dq10 is a shitty mmo
Yeah, and I'm sure you've played it.

if it hasn't been apparent by now, modern SE is retarded

>same level of marketing as 8 and 9
You're delusional if you think this is true.
>dq10 is a shitty mmo
I'll give you this one. It's not great.

All I see is you making excuses on why some of them sold well. VII didn't sell that well I'll agree with you there,

>It actually plays like Dragon Quest but online, not that shitty MMO faceroll format

Goddamnit I've never wanted something so much right now.

Where's the user that had all the sources and right ups about Final Fantasy XIV+XI not doing as well as it seems?

Because it is an ugly bland game with cardboard cutout characters.

As if Conan didn't do enough damage to Square Enix USA. How are they going to explain the massive lack of subscribers to the Japanese division?

FFXIV has a lack of subscribers. The only reason why it's relatively unknown is because when they meet with their shareholders they combine the numbers of X, XIV, and XI. X has more subs than XIV and XI combined in Japan.

In the West XIV has a good enough amount that drops once the content of an expansion is finished. Could X do better here? Maybe. It's low graphics would allow more households to get it. The combat is very different, the artstyle is very different. It has the potential to do amazing sales here. Square Enix just has to give it some effort.

DQ has never sold as well as FF in America, so rather than try to fix it Square just shrugged, decided "they don't like DQ, I guess" and gave up.

Not like they care, anyway. DQ sales in Japan alone are enough to keep them afloat for years.

It's nice to know that people are noticing DQX again
Woodus and reddit got in contact with SE support and started a localization campaign and that hasn't gone anywhere
Just learn Japanese and use a VPN
While you're at it buy my game

The US is still getting XI right?

Yes. More info in Fall 2017! :^)

because if dqx gets popular, ff14 dies.
if ff14 dies, the entire ff series dies.

Not until 2019, if ever.

It's honestly not good. They know you guys would abandon it within a month.

>because if dqx gets popular, ff14 dies.
What a load of toss. There is not much of a shared audience between a FF11 clone and a WoW clone.

>Just learn Japanese
I need a guide user. Can't find any good ones anywhere to get started.
>Woodus
Wood what?

>game is only popular in it's home nation
>pander to them only
I see no problem here, FF is shilled in the west far more

I would rather get dragons dogma online than shitty DQ

Why not learn Japanese anons? 4 year investment to never have to deal with waiting again. Most of you are probably 20-30 range. Now is the best time to learn. Do it faggots.

4 years might as well be a fucking eternity

It only feels slow the first 6 months. If you keep at it studying Japanese will become a routine you automatically do like you visit Sup Forums or play vidya. After the first year you can even read some basic manga, second year you could even play some vidya with a dictionary, third depending how good you are you'll hardly need the dictionary and fourth you don't need shit aside from looking up obscure kanji.

This is all considering you actively study of course. The lazy "watch anime" raw doesn't count.

>Spend 4 years learning Moon
>X gets released in the West 2021
I'm afraid of this happening.

right now the only mmo people play is ff14.
i'd drop that catgirl/catboy sim in an instant if it meant us getting dragon quest

It's already been confirmed for 2018.

>Actually believing Square Enix.
user...it ain't happening.

Why the fuck would you believe that XI wouldn't come to the West? The only reason X didn't is because an MMO is too much work for them.

I don't believe it's coming 2018. They obviously ran into issues which is why we didn't get that fall news they promised. If they have no news by March you can safely assume it's been delayed til 2019.

Oh. I thought you were saying they just weren't localizing it at all. I still believe they'll release it in 2018, but I really wouldn't even be surprised at this point if they pushed it back.

Anyone have a good guide for playing X?

What's with all the attempted DQX threads recently?

>ftw six years into 30

is it really possible?

Lack of news of XI probably.
Absolutely. I started at 20 and 5 years later I'm importing 99% of my games now. Could've been 4 like the other user said but I was lazy one year.

*months

goddammit.

Anyway I'm just saying. Is that really possible? Four years?

Where to start? I've been seriously wanting a second language but I wanted to do spanish.

Is there a place on Sup Forums for tips on language building like that?

I'm going to keep at it this time for sure!

I love DQ but I really don't care for the MMO. Looks fun but it will probably get boring fast like every MMO. Just give me DQXI as fast as possible.

>FFXIV has a lack of subscribers
are you fucking stupid?
ffxivcensus.com/2017-11/

Yeah it is. I've been going at it for 3 years now and I can play most games and only need to refer to a dictionary a couple times. You do really have to work at it though. I studied an hour to two hours every single day for the 3 years.

Do your Anki reps everyday, watch Japanese media everyday, read Japanese media everyday, listen to Japanese music at 50% speed and try to identify the kana used.

It's a tough road but the I see the light.

some dragon quest fanboy crying that square enix won't localize his precious series

...

Look up the DJT guide and use it as a baseline to get started. Once you have that set just immerse yourself as much as you can and of course find some anki decks.

Just stay the fuck away from forums for learning Japanese. The large majority give you wrong information that will make you look like a massive faggot in Japan. /r/LearnJapanese on leddit for example says all women must use "Atashi" over "Watashi" when it doesn't fucking matter. Only woman wanting to act cutesy say Atashi and even then that's rare. There are a ton of other shit that I don't feel like getting into.

Once you can read and do good enough grammar use an app to get a penpal from Japan. You help the dude with English and he'll help you with Japanese. It's a win/win situation.

That user was clearly talking about Japan. Otherwise it'd make no fucking sense to lump X into it.

If you really study yeah. Studying like how one would study for a High School Spanish class would yield little to no results though. Give yourself say...at least 30 minute to an hour a day and you'll be all set in 4 years. The first few months is going to suck though user I won't lie to you about that. But once you're able to read and understand bits of Japanese it gets fun.

Pretty soon you can just read manga, light novels to study. Obviously don't ONLY use those things because you're gonna end up talking like an anime character which will make you look like an idiot.

Alright, thanks.

Wow that finally got updated

What helped motivate my was seeing all the sorts of people on youtube learning and speaking Japanese. If they can do it why not us?

I assume you talk about some of the more cringe people?

Yup. Seeing some people like that being able to learn the language really makes you realize that anyone can do it.

I agree, that's good enough reason right there. Yeah we laugh at them and all but we're talking about a group that knows one language more than most of us. I can respect that.

I still really want to learn Spanish as a second language, it's part of my blood and I hear it's one of the easiest to know but I want to travel to Japan one day, too.

>Dragon Quest thread.
You moron, use the catalog. One already exists.
