I'm 30 hours into my first playthrough of Dark Souls and it's amazing. Sen's Fortress is a bitch with pendulums and traps.

DaS2 gets point for trying to be unique. DaS3 is just painfully mediocre and the only great boss fight is Twin Princes, everything else is mediocre to alright. Midir is really good and Gael is overrated as fuck.

Anybody remember the boss that was actually another player? Made you feel so much more accomplished to beat it than just some random ai

i had this for like 2 years but never got past more than 2-3 of the levels, i hope it gets ported to PC before the PS3 emulator comes to fruitition.

DaS3 isnt bad. Its just better dark souls 1 other than magic being kinda lame. Its dlc is trash though

Combats better, and more balanced. Weapons are actually pretty retarded Ill grant you, but you also cant parry the supposedly strongest bosses to death with ease which is nice. Settings mire or less the same, ds1 did have better environmental connectivity though.

Ill actually grant ds1 is better in pretty much every way except gameplay, but isnt that really the most inportant part of a game?

Artorias is a better fight than any humanoid fight in DaS3. In all honesty, when it comes to the idea of medieval knight vs knight combat Dark Souls nails the weighty feeling of it much better than DaS3. DaS3 is faster and smoother, but this makes it less intense imo and rolling is much more versatile while also costing way less stamina which makes fights easier and/or rollfests since most enemies have extremely long combos to counteract roll spamming. Dark Souls doesn't need to get faster, if I want to play a game with faster, smoother combat I'll play BB which isn't trying to be a weighty medieval knight game. Better yet I'll play Ninja Gaiden.

As far as souls games go the dlc was uninspired. If I had no comparison points except the base game Id grant you its just fine, but relative to the rest of the series the dlc was mediocre at best

Ah, okay. I can see why you'd prefer it for just knight v knight combat, Id agree that that seems much nicer in ds1 if you want a decidedly medieval feel. Artorias was garbage though, parry, roll gg basically.

Which is basically true of every Souls fight, especially in DaS3 it just feels so blatantly choreographed to me whereas DaS feels like a natural reaction that ends up looking and feeling good because of good design.

Fume Knight is great, but Gael is just average I was very underwhelmed after all the hype he was getting on here.

That's a good way to describe some of DSIII's fights, and why they don't feel as good. They feel choreographed.
