Switch sales are gonna skyrocket because of pic related right?
Switch sales are gonna skyrocket because of pic related right?
Did 4 pokemon games help the 3DS? In fact, I'm pretty sure there are more PS4s sold than 3DS' at this point. I'm sure it'll boost it for sure, but not by a lot.
Pokemon series really needs a reboot
Not really.
The only reason it boosted 3DS sales its because on 3DS it got released the at the same time the O3DS got its 2nd price cut and the 2DS was released.
Switch Sales are gonna tank when Game Freak leaves for Vita Headquarters
If they advertise the fuck out of it, yes.
If they give it a bundle, yes.
If they do a Gen V, yes.
I hope they go back to the formula of the older games rather than the newer ones, but I probably won't give a shit about it anyways.
I think it'll sell units, but providing they really take advantage of the hardware power increase from the 3ds. But honestly I think the switch will sell regardless.
depends what type of Pokemon game it is, I'm not falling for the usual beat 8 gyms then the elite 4 pokemon game.
Not really. The times were Pokemon was a system seller are long over.
For better or worse, Niantic has shown that Pokemon can succeed in holding peoples' attention without Game Freak, while the failures of Pulseman, Drill Dozer and Tembo the Badass Elephant have shown GF doesn't have a lot of success without Pokemon.
I mean. Games sell units so yes, pokemon will sell the switch, the question is will it be like gen 3 or be like gen 6?
>Pokemon isn't a system seller
Do people seriously just not remember X and Y's release?
>Did 4 Pokemon games help the 3DS?
Yeah it did actually. XY and the price drop are the biggest contributing factors to how much the 3DS sold and would be a major flop without them.
Who would buy Pokemon Minus?
No, it fucking doesn't; I don't know why Sup Forums keeps saying this.
There's nothing to be gained from rebooting the series that they couldn't do without rebooting, at all. Only shit to be lost.
This. I have absolutely nothing against the new pokemon. But I'd rather go back to the days of minimal story and maximum exploration.
The reason the old games are so excellent is because of the amount of emergent storytelling they generate on their own. After finishing sun/moon I realized how much I hated go here, cutscene, do a fight, go here, cutscene, repeat until the end.
I want dark ass caves that intertwine and I have to figure out the correct path while being harassed by zubats and geodudes.
I want secrets.
I want rare pokemon hidden in hard to find patches of grass.
Make it a standalone game with no two version bullshit
Release a game with all the regions (at least 1-3) and I might buy a Switch.
The older games also don't rely on nostalgia at all. They're their own entries in the series as opposed to just "tributes" to the older games.
As a huge former pokefag, I don't see it; certainly I won't. I'll consider after NMH.
False, it was the price drop when it flopped hard at its launch. Pokemon was secondary at best.
POkemon will definitely help. All the Switch needs is more third parties to release Digimon, GTA and Sports it's in the game game and it will sell like hotcakes every single time that happens.
I know several retail cucks that were bombarded with people buying 3DSes when Sun and Moon came out. Switches are absolutely going to fly off shelves faster than normal when Pokemon launches
>Kanto pandering up the ass
>Furcario, Shitzard, Pikajew and [starter of the gen that get's shilled] shoved down your throat
>cutscenes everywhere because story oriented pokémon is so great
>painfully easy battles even for child standards because children would rather use their phones
>underwelming graphics and zero attention to detail with the world
>forced online
>some stupid gimmick that will just increase the power creep and be forgotten by the next gen
>surprisingly good music though
I can't wait.
They already tried that with gen 5 and people bitched about it.
>I want dark ass caves that intertwine and I have to figure out the correct path while being harassed by zubats and geodudes.
Fuck that shit, revamp the battle system. Random encounters are cancer.
Considering the Pokemon series hasn't sold below 15M in the mainline games, I expect there will be another 5-7M Switches solely from the new entry alone.
They were half-way successful, they just were too lazy to reset the stat system and fucked up the design dividing the audience.
I haven't bought a Switch yet, but I will when a Pokeman game comes out for it, so yeah, I know for a fact that it will.
Those sales were because the it was a cheap game on a cheap console.
Thats not the case on the switch.
There is a HUGE difference between paying for a $40 game and a $150 console and paying for a $60 game and a $300 console.
The sales will obviously spike after the release, but it wont sell as much as the previous entries. The price barrier is considerably higher than with the handheld systems it used to be released on (system+game+paid online if you're into that).
Doesn't really matter either way seeing as Pokemon mainline is fucking trash these days and I don't expect the Switch games to be any better.
Ok fine. Take off about 2-4M. Pokemon is still super popular, just not AS popular as it was.
Pokemon is nothing without the western audience.
And one of the key factors for that sucess was the price range.
I doubt Pokemon Switch will even hit 8m
we'll see I guess. though I do agree that in if it REALLY wanted to be successful we'd see a price drop/cheapo revision
Pokemon really needs to die
>Pokemon is nothing without the western audience
Actually I believe one of the reasons Pokemon constantly hits 15 million sales while other Nintendo big hitters (save for Mario) barely struggle to do 10 is it's global popularity in full sense of that word. Thanks to the cartoon the series became popular even in obscure markets such as South America and Eastern Europe. With the price of admission essentially being doubled the sales will definitely tank.
No that franchise has been milked to death. Nobody cares about it anymore. They need to take a 5 year break and reboot it with new features
