A game that aged like shit. If you can get through the whole thing, good for. Kingdom Hearts II FM is great.

So Sup Forums oversold me this ?

It's fun but has aged in parts. The Final Mix versions are probably the better versions to be playing nowadays though as they've aged better/have more.

II is undeniably better though.

A really fucking boring game

the first Kingdom Hearts didn't age very well, but it can still be fun if you can get through all the bullshit
Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix is absolutely perfect, so if you don't care about the story, you can just skip to KH2

OST IS FREAKING ANNOYING

I care about the story so i'm going to do the first one even tho it aged, I just hope this isn't garbage now

The first one is the best in the series, don't listen to that retard
And also has a magical atmosphere
The second one is casualized shit with a bullshit story too deep for you and full of gay characters
They completely ignore FF characters and they fucking add QTE
QTE
QTE.

Yeah. Most people were pre-teens when this was released, so they have fond memories of KH1. The combat is clunky as fuck, and the platforming aged pretty poorly. Again, if you can get through it, that's great, because KH2FM is waaayyyyy better. I won't be the one to act like KH1 is good, though.

you might be retarded. The OST is some of the best video game music ever.

y i'm actually going crazy with those fucking voices singing in the tutorial

Hope you enjoy the first one
It all goes downhill from here

If you care about the story be aware that there's a very essential part of it in a mobile game set between I and II. I'd recommend watching a 3hr movie cut of it to avoid having to learn card game nonsense.

If you skip it entirely you'll be very lost on what's going on in II

Right i've screened your post for later thanks

do you have autism?

why is that important ?

Chain of Memories is the one that's nearly mandatory to understand II and is a card game.

358/2 days is a ds game that's more traditional gameplay wise and fleshes out the bad guys of II and also gives more context to help understand the nonsense of the series' storyline.

The HD collections just gave you a movie version of this and it works fine as that so you can get by with just watching the cutscenes.

Your weapon choice determines what level you get skills, pic related, sword is recommended if i remember correctly.

The questions that determine the time of day also matter.
>Dawn= You gain more exp until level 40 ish where it slows down.
>Noon = Balanced
>Night = You gain less exp until level 40 ish where it speeds up.

Chain of memories (The card game)

Play 2.

358/2 days (DS game, arguably worth emulating)

Play Birth by sleep.

Re:Coded (Same as days, but pretty much nothing important happens in this, it just explains a minor thing that happens at the end of 2 with a brief mention of what happens in BBS)
youtube.com/watch?v=gXuSeWopdo8

Play 3D

Scratch that, i meant shield due to the early Guard.

recommended is staff because it gives you more MP

the first one didn't age at all. it's still great and it's fun. once you get high jump, platforming is perfectly fine. kh2 is obviously better

If you've already got it booted up why the fuck don't you just play it and find out yourself? And then post when you've got something to say about the game to start discussion? I fucking hate these threads.

>the first one didn't age at all.

Spoken like someone who hasn't played since the game was released.

i played it a couple months ago with the collection you retard. hasn't aged one bit. in fact, i don't think there is a game that has "aged"

>i don't think there is a game that has "aged"
Wait, so now you're outright denying that games can age?

You have to sacrifice one too. I remembered picking the Shield and sacrificing the Sword so I'd get early Lucky Strike plus both more ability and item slots. The drawback is less strength but the other stuff made up for it for me.

A great game, too popular for Sup Forums...
Play it on critical

The camera and lockon are pretty garbage even after the changes for the HD remake, so prepare for some frustration until you get the hang of it. Choose the staff to get an extra MP that the other two miss out on.

Playing vanilla KH1 on PCSX2. Level 71 with ultima weapon, fighting Sephiroth right now. This faggot is difficult. I slap his shit up to late phase 2 where he runs around and its a 50/50 whether he'll slash you or teleport and then slash. Even that phase I can get through decently, but when he goes fucking nuts and does the spin and the orbs over and over it's a bit much. I can do it I just haven't really figured it out because every time I get to that point he tags me and then it feels nearly impossible to get enough space and time to cast cure before he hits me again.

skip and start Kh2FM instead.

It's a great game, but some of the elements of this game haven't aged as well as they should have, like the combat being a bit more rigid than it should be, and the platforming sections.. KH2 FM solves this, but at the cost at dumbing down some of the combat systems with action commands.

One decent game and a bunch of shitty sequels.

>kh1
brainlet
skip and go to 2

This is such a fucking brainlet opinion I think I lost a couple brain cells reading these awful posts.

Play always on the hardest dificulty.

If you are dying it means you are not pressing square.

You are welcome

You better be playing 1,5.

thanks for pic. ill be playing 1 again during my vacation

It's an aesthetically pleasing experience when you visit the Disney worlds, it's a meme, but the game is extremely comfy. As a kid I would often just hang out in the various worlds and get lost in them, obviously as an adult some of the magic fades but I'll always have those memories of grinding for super weapons and preparing to fight Sephiroth and Ansem. The story is cliche and at times cringey, but there is a real sincerity to it and the complexity becomes enjoyable at a certain point.

2 is the superior game in a lot of ways, but there is something to be said for being the original.

Pick staff drop sword if you are a fag. Pick staff drop shield if you arent a soyboy, then pick night.

This is the most reasonable and aptly put opinion i've seen of this game on this board, thanks user.

why don't you just play instead of looking for counseling in this cesspool, you fucking nerd

Have you tried pressing square? I heard guard and roll are good for not getting hit you casual.

DARKNESSI

Great music, frustrating camera, terrible platforming, mediocre combat, retarded story, and the dumbest crossover ever. You're going to love it.

No shit fuckface, I guard and counter him all the way to the third phase, and then he starts summoning orbs and spinning like a fucking tornado repeatedly and there's no time to do anything but run away, at least as far as I've seen, which has only been a couple of times.

Aeroga. Wow so hard

Yes, brainlet, I use aeroga. I'm not a fucking dweeb that grinds all the way to fucking 99 for Sephiroth, im only 71. He hits like a truck either way and interrupts you constantly. I'm not even complaining you putz i'm just trying to discuss the fight with non-brainlets.

I did the fight on proud at around 60, its not hard.

Do you have aeroga all the time? What about elixirs? You have your mp rage with you? You should never be out of mana with those.

Unlike 99% of others fight you cant button smash your way to victory, pick your openings, stay close to him and react, its always a confirm agains him if you block and hit (except dm). Super glide is important. How is your equipment? Do you have at least 1 ribbon?. He should mever interrupt you, if he is it means you are attackin when he is not staggered which is retarded

Xemnas is gonna make you his bitch

Im playing vanilla little buddy, did you miss that part? I know you were probably too young to remember when it came out but It's a bit tougher without all the gimmicky shit Final Mix added to the game sweet little brainlet boy.

I think you were trying to respond to me, and yes I know all of that. Sorry, I didn't mean he interrupts my attack strings(unless he fucking falls out of my combo, which keeps happening for some reason despite confirming with a guard counter) I meant after I super glide away during the 3rd phase in order to cure/put aeroga back up I feel like he's instantly ontop of me again and interrupting my cure with his tornado spin.

You know vanilla is x3 times easier since no proud mode? Also they nerfed most abilities in final mix

Form your own opinions. You might love it or hate it or just think it's okay. Same thing with KH2.

The difficulty scaling is easier, sure, but that is pretty much meaningless when all it does it change damage done/dealt. I already do fairly low damage to him compared to all the videos ive seen of people fighting him and he kills me in a couple of shots sans aeroga. I also don't have access to all of the really good abilities and combos Final Mix added, which seem to make it substantially easier. Though I saw one guy spam strike raid in vanilla which was ridiculously effective but I haven't tried it because it feels cheap. I'm just trying to beat him with guard/counter and the basics.

Not him but I disagree about vanilla being easier generally, if anything FM adds certain abilities that trivialize the combat a lot (Leaf Bracer, Slapshot, etc). Expert -> Proud isn't anywhere near as big a jump as Proud -> Critical in KH2/KH2FM.

If you are doing low damage at 71 accesories might be an issue. How much mp do you have? Pretty sure damage reductions depends on mp like every other spell on the game

Master earring, crystal crown, ribbon. I wouldn't say its low, its fine really, I get through him well enough, just lower than all the videos i've seen. Most of those guys were higher level though I believe.

When retards make threads like that it should be everybodies duty to spoil the game as much as possible.

Oh also, 12mp.

COME GUARDIAN

I DID IT BOYS

Nice senpai

Thanks pal. Now I need to get stopra from 100 acre woods for the Phantom, and kill Kurt.

You're in for one hell of an experience. I know people gas up KH2FM as an amazing game which it is, but KH1 is not far behind much. For my advice to you so your playthrough can be more enjoyable is the way you progress throughout various worlds. In the first world you land in, and a bunch of the worlds to progress the story you need to visit different areas within the world for new cutscenes and shit to move it along. So if you are just wandering around with no idea what to do (this will rarely happen if you actually follow the story) check all of the different areas and fight heartless for xp whilst doing so. Another thing is to not really focus on giving your partners top tier equipment and items, save that shit for yourself for the most part. Also if you're playing the ps2 version, play on expert trust me it'll be way more fun. Hope you have a great time man, don't let the shitposters question you playing it.

This. KH is one of few games that has stuck with me since I was a kid, and its not just nostalgia.

What shit tastes. The first one feels completely dead. It's slow and the combat is ass.

>saying someone else has shit taste
>not liking KH1
What a moron.
>combat is slow
so you never fought Sephiroth, Kurt Zisa, or Xemnas?

I feel like the game is overall better than KH2, but the combat is more fleshed out and streamlined in the sequel. Once you play 2 it’s hard to go back to 1.

>ahem.
KH3 will be............

I replayed through 1, Re:CoM, and 2 earlier this year and I had way more fun with 1 and CoM then 2. 2 almost frustrated me with the world progression in that game. In 1 the worlds are actually fun to explore, and you can interact with the environment. In 2 they're just decorated hallways, and while the combat is better the heartless/nobodies aren't as fun to fight. The bosses are the thing I think are really great. In KH1 the progression between worlds felt just right, and 2 seemed like a slog in that aspect. The one thing 2 has 1 beaten though is bosses. The final boss of 2 is probably the best in the series, that combined with Org XIII and twice more bosses then 1 makes it pretty great. I prefer 1FM over 2FM, and that's with 2 being my first PS2 game and having huge nostalgia for it.
