Pick better team comps
Bring more supplies than you need
REMIND YOURSELF
trying, but I've never had any interest in turn based games until now
use blight attacks
plague doctor
also the abomination kicks ass in third spot just puking and stunning people
Play like a bitch and you will make it.
This game punishes risk.
I never really know what comps are good or not so I always end up shitting the bed during boss fights
Learn the curios each works with an item with the exception of a couple like books. Upgrade guild before armory. Don't bother with the pub.
...
thanks guys
Here is one that is good
Occultist - Plague Doctor - Bounty Hunter - Hellion
I beat all missions with this team comp, but it can only handle so many of the bosses. So specialized teams designed for specific boss fights are recommended.
I'd consider "risk" in this game doing something completely idiotic like not healing a person on death's door because you'd rather kill one of two enemies, or not taking some obvious stun on an enemy heavy hitter.
Either way unless you're playing on stygian/blood moon mode, how exactly are you gonna lose the game? Heroes are expendable and you're actually encouraged to dismiss people who get locked into horrible quirks, because you'll need new blood anyway to kill all the low level bosses.
>this game is fun I’ll give it another shot
>play for 20 mins
>get fucked by RNG
>get pissed off and then the game off
Every time
>unreadable on mobile
Thnx
If you're getting fucked by RNG every 20 minutes you're doing something drastically wrong
I have a hard time using the plague doctor, mostly because I want constant attacks and can use other types for healers.
why do you use the plague doctor?
Each area demands different setups.
Ruins - Blight/Holy
Weald - Debuffs/Eldritch
Warrens - Bleed/Beast
Cove - Blight/Eldritch
You always want to have at least 1 hero who can target the back row or at least be able to pull them to the front. Killing stress dealers/support classes is very important, the guys at the front are usually not as much of a threat.
Remind yourself
Beating darkest dungeon is about being prepared and giving the enemy as few turns as possible. The more turns they get the more likely RNG is to fuck you up. Stuns and speed are extremely important for this reason. Don't spread your damage out either, focus down individual targets usually the back row.
have you even played this game and it’s RNG before?
Double stun, blight on every position, blight is very useful against some bosses. Also she can heal bleed so a nice combo with the occultist when the arab wants to be a dick. I must have saved at least 2 heroes with the plague doctor's heal when occultist heals them for 0 and bleeds them when they are on death's door.
Yes I've played it for 50 hours and lost about 10 party members who weren't on suicide runs
PD is easily the best character for applying blight and other than hellion is the only character with a multiple target stun. She can cure bleed/blight as well and remove diseases for free while camping. Not that she's without weaknesses. She's going to be a poor choice in areas where blight resistance is high and she can't put out much direct damage.
She's fantastic utility. Her heal removes bleed and blight on both her target and herself, and dots become serious business in higher level dungeons. She can stun and blight the entire back row, which is generally more dangerous to your run than the front row. She also has a melee bleed so she can still do decent damage in the warrens and weald, where blight is less useful. She also gets free disease removal camp skills, and has really good camp heals.
The only thing she's shit at is stress removal.
turn-based games are the only video games i play because i like to casually lay back in my chair with a glass of some bewerage and just solve puzzles, situations
also carpal tunnel
>can't wake up
SOOTHED
S E D A T E D
the real, super duper secret to getting gud is learning to abuse stuns combined with DOTs for free buffing and healing turns, that's the only way to keep up with your enemies' damage outputs
you're that guy who bitches and moans about anything
is chain stunning worth it? Like past the first or second stun, due to the resist stacking?
Experiment. Thats part of the fun.
Man at arms has the insane +80% stun shield, that shit can chain stun all but the most stun resistant enemies unless you get really unlucky
...
the only free thing in this game is the heroes. Hire a bunch of them, turn off the lights (more loot chance), complete the dungeon and send those too broken to function packing. Think corporate
>highway man
>has quick reflexes
>has early riser
>has the fits
M-MASAKA
I feel like there was a DD version of this pic somewhere
A few characters have stuns that are still reliable with one stun resist stack, and a decent shot even with 2 stacks. Houndmaster with trinket has a stupidly high chance to stun, and Bounty Hunter also has a really high chance.
It's generally always worth it when you're down to one or two relatively harmless enemies, to take a turn or two healing and removing stress.
If you do it too much though one of your characters will bitch and stress the entire party, so you can't abuse it too much.
it can only really be reliably pulled off by Plague Doctor and Bounty Hunter, both of which have a base 130% chance stun that can even be increased further with trinkets. I don't think you should risk it unless it's against a very low stun-resisting enemy, otherwise just kill them.
>He doesn't run 2xAbom, MAA and Memeheals of much bleed stacking
Might as well uninstall.
Fuck you Occultist is the best healer in the game
Darkest Dungeon is only daunting on the surface level because of its excellent presentation but the fundamental mechanics are surprisingly simple. Once you figure out itemization, action economy and combat stalling it becomes an easy grind.
Kill the stressfags in the back first.
Hopefully Red Hook improves on these flaws when they make their next game.
Occultist with high crits is the best healer indeed
It's still a chance, but a mid risk HIGH reward heal
Bring bandaids or equip bleeding ressists
...
>Starting the quest to kill the Necromancer Lord
>First quare i step on is a ghoul and gargoyles
>Geting crited twice for howl
>Flurry of Claws also crits
>The combat took 6 turn, my team got fucked up,
>Crusader becomes masochistic
>Proceing to the first room
>suprised on full torch
>Bone Bearer gets foul guarded on first turn
>mfw
this game is such a piece of shit sometimes
>crit heal brings my crusader back from death's door to full hp
>unironicly thinks that we don't know that just because we post memes
I read somewhere that you can quickly use a supply item even when a hero interacts with something automatically, is that true?
BACK TO THE PIT
I haven't been able to
Patched.
what would be the purpose of that?
>patched
WHAT? I thought it was a feature not a bug.
This, if you grind dungeons really slow and use the stronger heroes to help babysit the weaker ones in lvl 1 dungeons you should do just fine.
Basically if you want to die less, grind a lot
If you want to progress faster, take risks
>See a locked cabinet
>crusader swooces on over there to open it automatically
>quick use a key or shovel so the retard doesnt get blighted and lose all the treasure
>why would it be beneficial to be able to prevent a bad interaction outcome if an adventurer is forced to interact with an upcoming curio due to a quirk
Why indeed.
>there are not one, but two different ornstein class mods
which one should i use?
>got the game yesterday so still new
>going through Warrens
>encounter eldritch shrine, says to place a torch
>don't know what it does so I do it
>party gets wiped by a shambler
It was a shit party anyway
I use the daoron one or whatever his name is, it mimics ornstein pretty well imo
>quest complete
>now it's time to go get that secret room
>huh I don't have inventory space for the trapahedrons, what can I throw away
>don't need food, discard
>don't need torches, discard
>don't need keys, discard
>I hadn't actually opened the secret chest yet
I am a fucking retard.
neither, mods are fags
Is there even a reason to fight the Shambler? He's never dropped anything good for me
is here a pastebin or somewhere with all of the narrators quotes?
Ancestor trinkets are pretty good.
>doing lambs to the slaughter
>have never entered the darkest dungeon before
>they're actually surviving
I don't trust this.
Same here but i still fight him just to get reminded from time to time
Holy shit user
If you have the game itself, you can just find all his quotes in a dialogue file in the game folders.
nevermind, they got fucked up in the third battle
Play on radiant mode, I find it a lot more easy to get into, I was playing my original file on the regular mode and found it difficult to grind and constantly lose guys ability to go into low level dungeons. It makes the game a bit more easy to power level guys and thus the growing pains are a lot less..
That being said, things still get hard once you hit veteran and champion dungeons. It just makes the grind and early-mid game more bearable. Combat itself is just as difficult and will punish your overconfidence and riskiness when it wants to.
Then save it to drive and open it later. Fuck off, not everything caters to you the dude was being nice and posting something for OP.
a fully leveled PD with witches vial and Blasphemous vial has a 200%stun chance, meaning even with added stun resist you can stun about anything continuously. And when you can't? then blight them. Stuns become really important later one when you can't 1 hit half to all of the enemy ranks, and it keeps the back line stress dealers from being able to stress you, because stress is a much harsher bitch to deal with than health.
Switch Version when?
Mobile version when? Seriously theres fucking nothing stoping it from being a mobile game
>any kind of mobile version of DD
Switch, shitty phones, I don't care which, just having this playable anywhere would be amazing
;)
There's an Ipad version isn't there? I guess the UI would be too small on phones though.
I lost 2 teams without making it to the champion hag 2 nights ago. both were just screwed over by the hateful virago and it was all because of that damn mushroom. first time I didn't know what it did, second time got put in a very shitty spot that I couldn't hit with consistent heavy damage. which brings me to my final point, they need to buff the houndmaster, he feels gimped compared to nearly anyone else you could put in his position.
mone and I just like kicking his ass desu.
>Shaggy Ultra instinct
>Gimped
You doing something wrong there my man, he is pretty fine as it is.
>Tfw used 2 shieldbreakers with impale and houndmaster with the all bleed to defeat the flesh boss
Shit literally died in 3 turns or so
Print or somethign then you retard.
it has pretty high cpu usage
buy a vita
>send bounty hunter to relieve stress by gambling
>works well one week, doesn't want to leave so he's down another week
>2 weeks later he's just fucking missing
Fucking Cecil
Houndmaster is a self sustaining jack of all trades. He can do basically everything you'll ever really want, but not the best.
self healing
stress healing
bleed
marked damage
marking
AOE attack
reliable stun
dodge protection
he may not specialize in one field, but he has everything besides Blight basically covered.
Also, take the Houndmaster to the Warrens and fight the flesh boss. Watch how he slowly destroys them with a few moves
There are dozens of negative quirks which force heroes to unfavorably interact with curios. It wouldn't be much of a negative if you could circumvent the unwanted interaction.
Kill yourself you fucking degenerate
pencilsponyforge.tumblr.com
Have always at least 1 healer and 1 tank-ish hero
Keep the torch level above 75
Remind yourself
Don't read books, nigger
Prioritize doing damage over healing
Don't bother sending people to get stress relief unless it's at 50 or above
Heroes are expendable, they're not your friends
Well I'm not the best player and I'd never claim to be, but how do you use him? and I mean at champion level, because I agree he's decent at lower levels but he just doesn't bring a heavy enough bleed at only 2 when the flagellant has 6 for a regular hit or 9 for the special hit. even the hellion who only does 3 bleed damage counters that by hitting like a damn truck. I'm sure he has a spot but I just can't find it.
>they need to buff the houndmaster
>don't care about stress
>don't care about insanity
>suddenly game is easy mode
I knew I should've played this more like the original xcom.
ill be ok with DD being in a portable console, but mobile might be to much of a risk to take
i would hate to see this gsme getting p2w
its not really an issue now with the base content but imagine the grinding you would have to do if there is an expancion and there are mtx involved
have you EVER marked a target before?
His stuns have an extremely high rate, so you can basically spam it
do you throw away the scooby snacks?
houndmaster is easily one of the best if not the best damage dealer in the game. his mark makes his hounds do +100% damage, AND removes 30 percent protection, which arguably makes his mark the best in the game against bosses like the cannon which have almost no dodge. he can out damage buffed leper easily just because of the fact he removes 30. percent. armor. which is i think the highest in the entire game.
alright I suppose that's fair. The way I was using him I was needing him to do heavy damage. I'll give him a shot for the flesh, I've got a him coming up and a level 5 houndmaster waiting. Any other team mates you suggest? The other guy said 2 sheildbreakers.
Not him but I always forget I have the scooby snacks for whatever reason. Or when I do remember them I don't feel like I need it.
>high cpu usage
Thing is there really shouldn't be anything particularly CPU-intensive in this game. There's no physics to speak of, the AI is relatively simple and there's no pathfinding. It's essentially a computer-simulated board game so it should run like the fucking clappers in terms of underlying internal state changes.
I know how to do mark parties, hell he was part of one when things went south really fast. I did however not have his stun on so that would have been helpful
and yes, I throwaway the scooby snacks, now I just feel silly.
1 Vestal and 3 Houndmasters are a viable strategy with the Flesh. Just spam Hound's Harry. And don't forget to eat the scooby snack.
I run mine on second spot with the class only stunbat and stun trinket. His stum being able to hit 3rd spot is a marvel and the treats make he deal damage when its really needed, I also try to use someone with a foward skill on spot 3 so he can go back to stressheal. As said he can do it all and if you make the right comp he can do something really well. Also remember hes better in certain dungeons like warens and weald.
For me everytime i see a size 2 champion mod ill just pop that mf snack, mark with someone else and go ultra
it also uses a lot of RAM
I think the game is just really unoptimized, considering it's such a simple game while hacing so much CPU and RAM usage
>occultist has both love interest and deviant taste
Fun
