Too bad it plays like shit.
Akira
it plays okay. not too many Akira-esque games to begin with
>plays like shit
Dang dude, Ruiner was fun as hell.
Purely surface level but the only thing I can think of is the motorbike in No More Heroes
I think there's a bike in Saints Row 3 and 4 that's a reference to Akira. Although those games are nothing like Akira unfortunately
Half-life
Woah weird, I just watched it for the first time last night. Shit was weird, man.
>tfw generally hate anime but love akira
I like the manga more than the anime movie.
Beyond Two Souls has some psychic/hospital shit
read the manga
Why are Japanese people so obsessed with evolution and transforming into the next level? Oh right because they are god hating atheists.
...
>Oh right because they are god hating atheists.
Heavenly Japanese cuties protecting you from evil just have a much better ring to them than an Arab who tells you that everything you're doing is wrong and you're supposed to suffer and repent for all eternity to get a shot at not ending in endless suffering.
Its more like they believe that there are gods everywhere and said gods were once humans so they think at least at a subconscious level that they can eventually become gods too. Their culture is not very compatible with christianity.
Mother Russia Bleeds
neat
Katamari Damacy
>read the manga
its not even better and he is better not reading it unless he really really likes akira. that shit has like what 6 volumes? fuck dude. that shit draaagggged longer than it needed to be.
It's the classic case of the first half being pure kino, and the second half being unintelligible Jap shit.
>literally the most accessible normie shit ever

owo what's this?
A veiled DS thread?
Dang dude, it was fucking garbage, play Hotline Miami to see this type of game done right.
...
>entire thread and nobody has said SMT1 yet
genuinely surprised
nice bait tho
>6 volumes
So that's like, what, 2-3 hours of reading?
Not him, but there's a decent amount there.
E.Y.E
The controls are good. It's the AI that's shallow.
>don't believe in a god
>hate god still
Were the Japanese being ironic all along?
Overrated with good visuals and terrible pacing?
KANEDAAAAAAAA
Completely different type of twin stick shooter. Hotline Miami is more like a puzzle game tbqh
Yes? what?
The fucking movement is tilted 30 degrees. Who the fuck thought that was a good idea
>be 13 year-old me
>see cover art for Akira at rental store
>think it's going to be some awesome anime about future biker gang rivalries or something
>first 10 minutes are just that
>the rest is about old babies, psychic shit, and lots of yelling of the same names with the soundtrack of exhausted old men
Younger me was sorely disappointed. Jin Roh was better.
It takes like 10 seconds to get used to it.
Jon roh was shit too. It has one, ONE, good scene in the entire movie
whenever I get into the game and no longer conciously operate the controls I notice I start to move the wrong direction. Its fucking retarded
closer to six-seven probably
>think it's a cyberpunk movie
>watch it
>devolves into supernatural magic bullshit
I will never understand the people who like this.
I liked the part where they ripped the girls shirt off. That's it.
It is Cyberpunk. Only the movie has a decade worth of manga to pull from.
Isn't GITS a straight up better cyperpunk experience though?
There's nothing supernatural. Read the manga if you were confused.
>Only the movie has a decade worth of manga to pull from.
it didn't at the time it was made.
Fucking everything that isn't a perfect 10 is "shit" to you people. There exists no middle ground anymore, absolutely no nuance. Just 1 or 0.
The movie is maybe, but I prefer Akira's manga to GITS's by a lot.
GITs show/movies are straight up Cyberpunk, yes.
How many volumes were released by the time the movie came out? Four five?

The whole movie was good. Especially the ending.
I actually agree. It had far less action than I expected, and the typical melancholic Japanese protagonist with scenes of silence and muted confrontation bore the fuck out of me.
Your post succeeded in raising my blood pressure.
>tfw live action remake
Explain why it's good. There was a single action scene. The rest of it was worse than slice of life garbage that numales watch. Music wasn't good. Visuals were good but again wasted on a slog of a movie.
are there any games that had Akira styled "riding on your bike and hitting rival bikers with a steel pipe" sequences that wasn't fucking Ride to Hell Retribution
Final Fantasy 7
oh yeah
Also Road Rash
came to post ruiner
>Jon roh was shit too.
you seem very desperate have a (You)
I'd say the closest thing in atmosphere is The Warriors
No bike or cyberpunk themes, but it's a dark gang-centric brawler in a big dirty city
>muh action scenes
I know you aren't serious but damn
Cyberpunk 2077
Some of my favorite movies are slow paced almond activating movies. This was not one of them. Nor was it a good mystery, thriller, adventure or action movie. It was literally nothing more than a 5/10
The fact that nobody can explain why it's good further proves it.
A game that starts really nice and moody, starts getting unninteresting halfway through and you don't know how it ends because it's so boring it makes you sleep?
Ah, I see. Well, the movie simply isn't about those things. It just wants to talk about a dicotomy, without any plot twists or mysteries, which usally are predictable and annoyng. It's just a different product with different purposes
