Why did this series die?
Why did this series die?
They tried something different with Breath of Fire 5 and made a great game that nobody liked.
>Capcom
Gee I wonder why
Are the games good? I remember playing a Breath of Fire game on the GBA as a babbie and it being extremely good, but I was only a babbie so I didn't know shit.
>Are the games good?
They aged like milk, just like every PS1 JRPG. Can't stand any of that shit anymore.
>being this gay
BoF 3 and 4 and Dragon Quarter are good.
4 sprites still hold up except for the environment. should've went with 2d backgrounds.
3 generic jrpg much like 1 and 2 but it's the best one out there according to Sup Forums
5 fell into the matrix meme and went black instead of the usual fantasy setting
the fuck are you on about
>They aged like milk
I see this written about literally every old game now on Sup Forums.
Bof3 hasn't aged a fucking day what are you talking about
Bof4 has aged only slightly
Why did it die though?
Dragon quarter is why.
They made a completely different genre of game, they didn't make it look great, and the entire game took place in the same looking areas. Along with what is essentially a "don't fight too much or you lose the game and have to start over" counter, people didn't like it so much, because it's nothing like the rest of the series at all
How did BoF3 age better? If anything it aged worse since the sprite art in 4 was improved
Nah, the artstyle they switched to in 4 ages slightly worse than the one they used in 3 imo.
BoF Dairy Queen killed the series by being way out there. After that, instead of actually trying to give life back to it by returning to its roots and what the fans liked about the games, Capcom used its long-rotted corpse to make a shitty phone game.
How can it be dead? It just had a new entry last year.
I really enjoyed BoF 2 as a kid. Is the original BoF or the GBA games worth playing?
Because Capcom is shit.
I love BoF 4. Fuck you Capcom.
The same happened with Suikoden. Fucking Konami.
bof2 is better
3 > 4 > 2 my dude
bof1 has aged a lot
like
A LOT
if you can manage to tolerate how old the systems are it's an okay game, but i wouldn't say it's necessarily "worth" doing if you still have the other bofs to play instead
1 is extremely basic compared to 2, but the dragon form is a lot better than in 2. Games 3 and 4 are better than 2 in almost all regards, but that's not to say 2 was bad.
>that 25 year old friend who invited you over to play breath of fire and fuck his 55 year old wife
What was his deal
just give me a HD remake of 3 and 4 on Steam, with achievements Capcom you fucking shit developer
I'm gonna play PS1 and 2 RPG's til I die
FUCK YOU
Why don't you go the emulation route?
I just really like the 2D SNES look, the characters and size of the world. I have played most of the JRPGs from that era and I have an itch to scratch.
>Capcom
Fucking guess
any attempt at an HD remake for them is going to change them to 100% 3d graphics
