Fallout 4 factions

Institute: aesthetics
Brotherhood: Honor, Loyalty and Discrimination
Railroad: le underground resistance
Minutemen: Ayo holmes, give them a volley

So which faction was best?

The best faction is not playing fallout 4 because it's a bad game and you shouldn't give todd your money (inb4 piratefags, it's still not worth it)

Say what you will about the stormcloak vs empire civil war, it's been 7 years and we still have threads that fill up with people debating them. Meanwhile FO4 factions range from actively horrible to just kind of shitty and stupid in their implementation.

BoS, of course.

Prefer the institute in terms of what they stand for but had way more fun playing in my BoS run

They were all pretty one note, and didn't really take you to different places.

Institute: Socialists
Brotherhood: Conservatives
Railroad: Liberals
Minutemen: Libertarians

Pretty funny how Bethesda put politics into the game pretty smoothly. It becomes clear how each faction is a metaphor for different political groups once you’ve gone through the story enough times.

>factions
They're all shit in FO4

Brotherhood always. Purge the mutants. Hoard the tech. Fuck yeah humanity.

F4 made no fuckign sense though when you side with BOS. Why would they destroy everything the Institute had, when part of their whole shtick is preserving and hoarding technology.

>Institute: Socialists
Literally shut themselves off from the world, killed high ranking politicians and lowly peasants to replace with cyborgs, can't deal with synths running away when they gain free will and thinking, and last but certainly not fucking least, the have a system that works, which is quite opposed to real life socialists

Fallout 4 is better than Fallout: New Vegas.

>playing a soyfun game

I haven't played FO4. What are the goals and beliefs of each faction?

The story is 4 is dogshit. No one else bother with the bait.

Institute were genuinely nonsensical.
Railroad were retarded child murderers obsessed with robot workers in a world full of human slavery.
Minutemen were irrelevant and boring.

Brotherhood won by default.

Is this the new epic word for "games i don't like"?

The story in New Vegas isn't particularly compelling either. At least Fallout 4 has good gameplay. Of course Fallout has always been a shit series and if you want to play a decent RPG series with good lore and story then you should play TES.

Railroad for the OP armour

Because they couldn't be bothered making a different ending for the different factions.

They ruined the BoS in F4

The institute didn't even have a goal, it was retarded
The railroad was pretty much a group of sjws with autism
The minutemen are extremely likely to end up fucking up in the exact same way they already did
The brotherhood is wasting their time trying to kill everything non human on the wasteland, they unironically lack the kind of scientists the institute has to help them come up with a better solution that fighting supermutants with ships
The best faction was the gunners but you can't join them

minutemen + institute collaboration

exterminate synth rogues
exterminate power armor raiders
free the commonwealth

They ruined it in F3. Bethesda just continued what they were doing in F4 in that regard.

>unironic fallout 4 discussion
>>>/reddit/ is that way

Even if you're in charge of the Institute you still have to destroy everything if you side with others. Maybe just walk into your office and order everybody to stop being evil.

>Minutemen
Protect commonwealth.
>Brotherhood
Fuck the institute, gather tech.
>Institute
SCIENCE
>Railroad
Robot PETA

Best faction is the raider faction.
When you're trying to overtake the wasteland, except no substitutes.

>2011 was seven years ago.

Getting more alcohol.

So much salt in the butthurt

Fucking this. With minute men taking control topside things can calm down for a while the Institute just go about their business as normal and keep to themselves.

the fucking brotherhood of steel of course

Fallout 4 is reddit incarnate

GTFO

institute with Dima as the leader

Fuck off Todd

Nev

>letting Dima do anything after all the shit he pulled

>Say what you will about the stormcloak vs empire civil war, it's been 7 years and we still have threads that fill up with people debating them
no that's new vegas and its factions

>one of the very few interesting quests in FO3
>make an entire game around it
Todd really needs to hire writers who aren't his friends and family. Whole Institute plot feels like a bad Bladerunner fanfiction.

>Institute
>Socialist
What?

>there are people who unironically like Skyrim with guns

It wasn’t even an rpg. This game was closer to nu-DOOM than FO3

Exactly

user if you're just gonna shitpost you can just hide the thread and move on

>The best faction is not playing fallout 4
Woah, such a hot and original opinion. You'll fit in just fine here on Sup Forums's video games board.

Bethesda shills aren't people

Can someone post pics of sexy mods, please.

There was an old story about a nobleman that when the plague hit instead of trying to help anyone he decided to seal himself in his tower with the 50 hottest rich women and 50 hottest rich men and all his money and food so it couldn't get to him and then the plague itself wears a costume just so it can get to him that reminds me a lot to the institute

he did the right thing controlling far harbor the only mistake he did was letting Atom lose

download wonder body
fully modeled vagoo and 8k textures, all armor/clothing converted

>playing the story
fallout 4 is only good for building settlements and mildly lewd mods.

So did Dima straight up murder the girl from Far Harbor?

That's an Edgar Allan Poe story. It's called Masque of The Red Death.

Why does fallout 4 look like plasticine?

One of the greatest problems with the game is that the goals and beliefs of each faction don't make much sense.

>Minutemen
Building shitty shacks in the middle of swamps and then defending them from endless supermutant raids (though defending them is entirely your job, nobody else is up to the task).
>BOS
Killing everything and everyone that isn't part of the BOS.
>Institute
Kidnapping people and replacing them with robots that look like people for no reason. Attempting to kill the parents of their leader for no reason. Making robot gorillas for (you guessed it) no reason.
>Railroad
Smuggling the out Institutes robots and giving them new lives because they have been made so lifelike that they have feelings just like real human beings.

You forgot that the institute somehow got the FEV in enough quantities to test it out for the sake of making a cure. Even though they not only would never be at risk of the FEV mutation, but that everyone that lives topside is infected by it regardless.

I murdered the railroad freaks because I'm a Nazi

>The world outside is hell
>Oh well better release more supermutants
The only eat the institute makes any sense is if you consider the possibility that they are so paranoid they keep making everything more dangerous so they can justify never leaving to themselves
Hell the worst punishment they give people is kicking them out and not letting them return, however when someone runs away they hunt them down how does that make any sense?

>Creating androids to do menial tasks
>Creating sentient androids to do menial tasks
>Denying the androids are fully sentient or equal to humans
>Praising the androids as the future of humanity while treating them like shit
>Spending countless manpower and resources tracking down escaped sentient androids and reprogramming them so they can continue sweeping floors

It seems the railroad is the only faction that has a coherent belief, regardless of personal opinion on it. The institute wants to use synths as tools, but to accomplish what? The BOS wants to wipe out mutants and preserve tech, but to accomplish what? The minutemen just want to protect each other's settlements I guess, and their philosophy really doesn't extend past that.

I guess I'd have to play all the games, but it seems Fallout lore really doesn't make any sense.

Institute are hilariously incompetent besement dwellers despite their hype and that appeals to me, Railroad are smug losers Minutemen are more of a personal cheerleading squad then a faction, BoS is acting too big for its britches during 4 and the missions about fucking em up are far more satisfying then the ones about helping them..

So the correct answer is THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS!

They completely fucked up the lighting and shading. Every surface has a weird fake light on it that makes it look washed out and flat

>Gunners
>Put together an army big enough they can raid vaults and get good weapons and tech
>Mercenaries that anyone can hire
>Want to protect your caravan? Hire some gunners
>Want to protect your settlement hire some gunners
>Want to deal with some raiders? Gunners
>Do you have data on some place with great loot? Hire the gunners to retrieve it
It's just a matter of time until the entire Commonwealth relies completely on the gunners for security, it's like a non retarded version of the minutemen and the brotherhood put together

The Institute is a poor clone of the Think Tank. They want to science for the sake of science. Why they would create sentient androids and not use them or even just become robobrains is beyond me.
BOS supposedly want to keep high end tech away from people that live their lives with technological prowess of the 1900s while they themselves continue to learn from it, but for some reason they also destroy some of the most advance technology that exists.
Minute men are just wannabe sheriffs and deputies.

Better question is why in the fuck the Railroad gives a single fuck about the androids.

The only issue is that as far as you're concerned, they're just better equipped raiders.
They could've been a pretty decent faction too.

The railroad is an obvious shoe-in for liberal ideals. Freeing synths really doesn't have any benefit other than muh compassion and muh virtue.

They aren't just raiders, they don't get addicted to chems, they don't harrass settlement and as long as you don't attack first or ignore warnings of stay away they let you be

Obsidian stealth released a new Fallout game? Oh boy!

Fallout 3 was great, I hope the factions in this one are just as nuanced as NCR, Legion and BoS in that game.

They might have made sense if it was a little deeper, such as the commander of the Railroad believing the androids were the true next evolutionary stage for humanity and not the FEV, but like most all of Fallout 4 they're just fucking boring.

They raid your settlements though. Should have just had a Gun Runners clone or some such, maybe a patriotic old world class style of people.

Gunners would be fun as an over militaristic top gun reference, having a quest like about repairing fighter jets to fight against either the institute or brotherhood

Reminder that the Metacritic snub means Obsidian will probably never work on Fallout again, even if offered.

gunners camps are always filled with jet and buffout and they attack anyone who isn't them on sight, they're just better organized raiders

Hidden prewar vaults are filled with bottle caps and pipe weapons, what's your point?

Question about NV, is the Courier's Stash seen as cheap, cheating, or game breaker? Do people actually use the items or get rid of them to play fair?

>Cabot hires Gunners to guard his crazy dad or was it granddad
>they do it despite being with a legit monster
>exterminating Atom fags at far harbor despite it being runned down by abominations worse than deathclaws
Gunners are loyal as fuck as long as you pay them

i started playing new Vegas again and it makes you realise how shit fallout 3 and 4 stories really are

In the case of the Institute i can pretend that is the point, we already know the "brightest minds" were in Big MT, which means that the MIT was sloppy seconds that couldn't measure up.

Reality though is that Fallout 4 was Bethesda trying to ape NV without understanding it as shown with things like Kellogs.

Honestly, none of the Courier Stash is THAT gamebreaking in itself, you can find on as good or better shit within about half a hour if you know where and the biggest gain is the Bottle if you are in Survival mode, i usually end up selling most of the shit except it and the Stimpaks/Doctor Bags for more Starting Caps.

It is basically just a early "pre-strip" crutch.

Yes he will, take your shit "game" somewhere else

The railroad wasn't added until late in development and they forgot to write a backstory

Institute are technocratic corporatists.
The Railroad are far-left terrorists.
The Brotherhood are deus veult fascists.
But yeah, Minutemen are libertarians.

Minutemen: Goodie goodie but Like the NCR in the Mojave, they are too thin and too spread out.
Brotherhood: Maxson is a warring retard who doesn't follow the principles of the old BOS. Basically just Power armored raiders.
Railroad: The antithesis of the Institute and thats all they aspire to really. Valuing synthetic machines over actual human life.
Institute: High tech bad guy with no clear goal except the pursuit of science itself.

Best faction is Ironsides faction

>Shoot you on sight for no clear reason.
>No way to set up a dialogue with Gunner leaders

TODD!

I know this is bait, but FO3 played like total ass. Give me 4's gunplay any day.

I always go with the underdog. NCR Rangers, Minute Man, Regulators
