now that i think about it,what's the whole point of runescape ?
runescape is a game about achievements, people compete to get as many achievements as they can,the only real problem is that none of this achievements require skill
stuff like getting the 99 only requires you to perform a specific task over and over untill you get the max level,it's not difficult,it's only time consuming
so what's the point of it ? none of the achievements that you get in runescape requires skill,it's nothing but a never ending race to see who can waste most time on a game, you cannot brag about your achievements because that only means that you wasted more time than the others in getting it
the only instances in which i see skills are the boss fights and the PVP,as they require actual strategy
so what's the point of it ?

In rs3 the more recent non boss encounters are designed to use more mechanics so you cant afk
William Mitchell
People enjoy seeing numbers get bigger and bigger. It makes them feel good. Runescape has the same appeal as those mobile games which hook people like crack.
William White
I play it like animal crossing, just cutting trees and fishing.
Bentley Davis
everything that you do in your life is worthless,so people choose how they want to waste their time
Luis Foster
There isn't an overall point of the game, and that itself is the point

now that i think about itWhats the point of living? I mean its just a game about achievements , people compete to get as many achievements as they can , the only real problem is that none of this achievements require skill. stuff like getting the minimum wage only requires you to perform a specific task over and over until you die. It's not difficult it's only time consuming so what's the point of it? none of the achievements that you get in life require skill it's nothing but a never ending race to see who can waste the most time on a game, you cannot brag about your achivements because that only means that you wasted more time that the others in getting it the only instances in which i see skills are boss fights and the pvp, as they require actual strategy.

you can say that about a lot of games, why do people play call of duty when they're just repeating a kill and die cycle over and over? Unless a game has an interesting story that you learn from like a book then it's mostly mindless stuff

5/10

but there is an huge difference between COD and runescape
in COD you require strategy, good aim,and overall: skill
the more skilled you are the better you perform
in runescape none of this matters, you get stronger just by wasting time into training a skill,it doesn't require skill
Owen White
>COD >strategy HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You've completely missed the point of Runescape. You're allowed to do whatever you want, you can grind a certain skill, you can make money, you can socialise, you can go questing or you can do PvP. Runescape has the best quests of any MMO to this day and it has better quests than a lot of single player RPGs too.
Grayson White
getting good at any game also requires you to waste time
you need to train to learn the game mechanics, train your reflex etc.
so technically you get better than the others by putting more time into a game, which still counts as wasting time

The quests in Runescape give you plenty of skill experience. You don't need to grind at all to have an enjoyable experience. And even if you did grind, that could be made more enjoyable by talking to other players.
Christian Gonzalez
a more extreme example would be idle games and clickers no clue why it's appealing i just want to go as high as possible
Lucas Scott
RuneScape?
More like "Run, eScape from this shitty game!"
Justin Ramirez
it has a pretty big quest system the main thing about boosting borderline afk stats is you make crazy money later. like i just cut trees forever and now i can buy whatever equipment.
Tyler Peterson
>PVP >strategy It´s a rng fiesta.

When I was a kid running through tutorial island, it seemed fairly simple to me. Imagine a RPG + The Sims + multiplayer. Taking the best aspects of those genres and less of the annoying stuff.
Once they added Skillcapes it became a circlejerk and now the autists who still play utterly refuse to do anything that doesn't throw tonnes of xp at them. Fun game modes like Castle Wars, Clan Wars, etc are all dead as a result.
