It's 2018.
It's time for a new generation of video game consoles. It's over for 8th gen. They're all obsolete.
It's 2018.
It's time for a new generation of video game consoles. It's over for 8th gen. They're all obsolete.
Consoles in general have been obsolete for well over a decade. 7th gen already marked the death of memes like "console optimization" or "plug & play ease of use", and exclusives are almost shunned these days.
When a 300$ desktop PC can BTFO of all the console competition when it comes to costs and performance, not to mention the size of game library, it's very mindboggling to see some brand-loyal kids still try to shill consoles to people.
>plug & play
As a console fag I really miss that. Now consoles are just retarded living room PCs. Gotta install shit and update it constantly. Bah
exactly. Just last week I spent well over an hour trying to continue playing my Persona 5 save on PS4, because of some bullshit de-sync issue with my downloaded free DLC files not being registered for my ID any more and thus blocking me from my old saves.
>$300
how come when i google budget gaming PC's they're twice that or more?
are pc gamers THAT autistic about optimizing framerates or whatever
A decent PC is gonna cost more than $300. That's like asking for a shitty toaster.
Switch and 1X are 9th.
>how come when i google budget gaming PC's they're twice that or more?
Because you don't know what to search for and how, and/or you're looking at prebuilts.
Wrong. There's been tons of "PS4 killer" builds available for several years now. A well thought out self built PC of 300 bucks would not only BTFO of consoles, but also provide all the great benefits and versatility of computers.
>When a 300$ desktop PC can BTFO of all the console competition
There isn't a single PC that cost 300 with new parts that's stronger than a PS4.
If you mention used parts I can get a used PS4 for 150
I'm calling bullshit. Those supposed "PS4 killer" builds never give their sources for how they got their parts for that cheap.
CPU: G4560 or prev-gen i3
RAM: 8GB DDR3
GPU: GTX 1050ti 4GB
PSU: 80+ 400W anything
Storage: 500GB 7200rpm HDD
OS: W7 Ultimate or W8.1, wared and cracked, OR get a CD key for 10 bucks
There ya go.
Yeah and again, where are you buying all those parts? New or used? If used, where did you find them?
>no case
>no mobo
>no mouse/keyboard
>no monitor
Yeah, except how most of them LITERALLY are screencaps of Newegg builds or such.
If you're seriously too lazy to look up best deals for components in your area, you better stick with prebuilds or buying used PCs.
I saw this kind of PC, except with i5 2500 CPU and 1TB hard drive, go for 350€ as a Buy It Now deal, on my local online auction site just last week. The guy was willing to part with his old 1080p screen for 60€ more.
>b-but you still gotta buy the TV user!!!!
user, the point is that it's an awful lot of trouble to go through just to build something equal to or a little more powerful than the PS4. I'll just buy the PS4 and be done with it.
>thinking gens exist anymore
new.
Used would let you save many tenners
Case is literally not necessary, but can be got for free.
Mobos for such specs can be got for 20 bucks.
KB+M are again everywhere, and can be bought as bundles for 10 bucks from any store out there. Hell, I got a pile of KBs and mice I could give away any day.
If you have a TV, you got a monitor. And fleamarkets are filled with flat screens and CRTs going for pennies.
it's funny how console peasants still repeat these same ""arguments"" of theirs some 5 years later.
>CPU: G4560 or prev-gen i3
60
>RAM: 8GB DDR3
30
>GPU: GTX 1050ti 4GB
180
>PSU: 80+ 400W anything
30
>Storage: 500GB 7200rpm HDD
30
Total :£330
Bare in mind this toaster won't run PS4 games above 15 fps due to optimisation.
Tell me a straight face this junk is running BF1
>it's funny how console peasants still repeat these same ""arguments"" of theirs some 5 years later.
Yeah and I 100 percent guarantee that you don't practice what you're preaching. Your case, mouse and keyboard all probably cost you at least $200 or more so fuck off.
>user, the point is that it's an awful lot of trouble to go through just to build something equal to or a little more powerful than the PS4
Couple minutes on Google, printing or writing down the specs, and then walking down to some local PC store and asking for similar build is "awful lot of trouble" now? For a big investment that can potentially change your life and serve you for a decade?
>I'll just buy the PS4 and be done with it
Yeah, and get a locked down system that's already dying, unable to do even 1/5th of the things a matching priced PC would do, all while paying tons of extra for the games, peripherals, and just to play online.
My "local PC store" is a Best Buy and they don't have shit. It's all laptops now. Where do you guys live where you have these magical stores filled with bargain priced PC components?
>Bare in mind this toaster won't run PS4 games above 15 fps due to optimisation.
Console optimization is an ancient meme that has not been a thing for decades.
BF1 started as a PC game and was ported DOWN to consoles.
>Tell me a straight face this junk is running BF1
That thing can easily run BF1. Use Youtube, look up "G4560 + 1050ti gameplay".
Be amazed.
That potato build also runs games Witcher 3 better than the consoles.
>still no PC 2
>For a big investment that can potentially change your life and serve you for a decade?
With that garbage set up you listed you have NO future with that PC. You want something better? Gotta get a whole new mobo with different everthing. You basically want that user to waste money on a shit pc he would have to change the whole junk in a years time.
Fucking this. Put your money where your mouth is, fucker. Let's see your free garage sale PC tower and your $10 mouse and keyboard. I'll wait.
Both PS3 and PS4 had no games, will the PS5 finally take us back to the golden era of PS1/PS2 when they actually had games?
...
lol this list is all nerd shit, who cares
>Yeah and I 100 percent guarantee that you don't practice what you're preaching.
What does that mean?
That I don't build PCs like that myself? Yes, I don't, for a simple reason: I build a 1000€ PC back in 2011, and it is still serving me extremely well. As in, runs any game I throw at it at 1080p / 60fps, with one or two tweaks in options if needed. And I did not upgrade it in ANY way before last August, when I threw in a 180€ GTX 1060 6GB; now it runs everything all-Ultra once again.
But the thing that (You)r kind don't seem to realize, nor appreciate, is the fact that PC gaming provides you with choices and options. If you want to just get started, and feel OK with console-tier performance and visuals, a 300 buck PC gets the job done. And every passing month, said 300$ builds will only get stronger and/or cheaper.
Meanwhile, if you WANT a truly high-end, enthusiast level PC, you have the option to go beyond that. In many ways, a 400$ build would be eye-to-eye with my old 1000€ PC nowadays, which itself is very impressive and great for the consumers.
>Your case, mouse and keyboard all probably cost you at least $200 or more so fuck off.
Negative. I have no idea where you get these prejudiced ideas.
I have literally never paid more than 30€ for a KB or mouse in my life, and the current set I have used since summer 2009 I got for absolutely free, as a gift.
>we taught him to argue wrong, as a joke
>w-well I don't personally use some garbage build that I'm telling you guys to buy but the point is you CAN
Every fucking time.
>Where do you guys live where you have these magical stores filled with bargain priced PC components?
Finland.
We got like 20 different PC centric electronics shops and stores, all of them with very detailed and user friendly websites that allow you to do anything.
On top of that, online auction and fleamarket sites are full of components of different ages. I've purchased several mid-high tier Nvidia GPUs for like 150 bucks in past decade, some as birthday presents and such for people.
Just last year, I snatched a 120€ gaming PC for my parents in law from a recycling center. A device capable of running modern stuff like Killing Floor 2 at ~Medium settings at 60fps.
Ah, well that explains it. In the US, desktops are not popular anymore outside of the gaming community. Everyone has been using laptops for well over a decade now.
>With that garbage set up you listed you have NO future with that PC.
Are you people living in the year 1997?
PC tech evolution has slowed down to slog during this decade. Some literal 2009 tier business desktops can be upgraded with more RAM and some low-power 750ti or 1050/Ti card, and suddenly they can play anything and everything out at the moment.
Having set up and used some literal grandmother PCs, like sub-2Ghz dual-core CPU + 4GB old RAM, no GPU, I can tell that for common daily usage (surfing net, using office tools, light gaming...), you can go extremely low these days and still have reasonable experience.
So yeah, if you REALLY think that a 300-400$ livingroom toy with up to 80$ games, 60 bucks obligatory fee to play online, and one or two games to play per year is a "good deal", then go right ahead. However, don't try to preach that PC gaming would be "too hard / expensive".
I do not recommend "garbage" to people.
The selected low-price / power components are extremely capable and literally BTFO of consoles in every possible way. The 1050ti 4GB, costing as low as 100€, literally dominated the old 560ti 1GB I used for 6 years, and that thing still kept up with modern games and all the power user tasks I needed to perform.
tl;dr: Stop living in the 1990s, and wake up to the fact that we're living the golden era of PC gaming.
>Everyone has been using laptops for well over a decade now.
Sounds bizarre as fuck. Especially knowing how PC gaming is at its all time peak, with most of the sites and services being US-based and focused, and I can ensure you that only a tiny fraction of all PC gamers actively game on laptops.
Not to mention doing any kind of demanding, long-lasting work would be a nightmare on laptops. Doable, but not optimal.
I just use Ebay. And check out foreign versions of it as well.
Amazon, Newegg and such also have fine deals from time to time. And finally, there's the infidel option: Leddit's PC building subreds
>I can ensure you that only a tiny fraction of all PC gamers actively game on laptops.
Depends on how you define "PC gamer". Plenty of casuals are perfectly happy playing mainstream shit on their expensive MacBook Pros. PC gaming isn't nearly as big in the U.S. as it is in Europe it seems. Desktops are largely seen as clunky and outdated tech here.
>PC gaming isn't nearly as big in the U.S. as it is in Europe it seem
Yet I see American PC gaming sites, American PC gaming channels, American PC gaming tournaments, American PC gaming flamethrowers... etc, everywhere I look at on the internet. Sounds weird, and even somewhat sheltered, to think that burgers themselves would consider desktops THAT obsolete.
Only reason to go with a laptop would be constantly traveling lifestyle, or super limited living space. Like, literal post stamp sized closet living quarters, knowing how tiny micro build desktops you can make these days.
I guess they need to be able to carry it on their bicycle backpack
>and outdated tech here.
Well nobody is going to be playing video games on a laptop on the bus, there's no point to having a "gaming machine" that can move. Also that is a very bad idea to have, laptop parts have to be worse, it's the law.
I'm not saying it hasn't increased in popularity here but I'd still bet anything that the number of people with a decent desktop gaming setup is absolutely tiny compared to the number of normies that own a laptop and a PS4.
Oh and if you're in college here, 99% of those normie laptops are MacBooks.
>the number of people with a decent desktop gaming setup is absolutely tiny compared to the number of normies that own a laptop and a PS4.
I know everything's bigger in the new world, but recently confirmed 38,948,800 American Steam users, majority of them who have been shown by recent surveys to have 1080p capable or better PCs, would make even yanks to have quite respectable PC gaming community. The numbers might be even higher knowing that Steam's not all there is to PC gaming.
>Oh and if you're in college here, 99% of those normie laptops are MacBooks.
I think that's a common cancer mentality around the globe. I'm glad I went to an IT focused university, where everyone had a HC bisness or gaming-grade laptop. And a desktop PC as well.
If I buy a PC, my gamerscore will be abandoned.
I can't have that. I just hit 100k.
we already have a new generation of consoles
they are called
PS4Pro
XboxOneX
and Nintendo Switch
gamerscore means nothing though
