took me 31 hours to get through this turd. picked the merging with helios ending, half of the reason being that it got me to the end faster and I didnt have to bear another second of the combat. then again it would still have either been that or illuminati had I had two buttons like in HR

Now go and play it with the GMDX mod.

Now go play IW.

You picked the canon ending by the way.

Why do people like GMDX? Do people really think a stamina system was a good idea? There were some good things far too many changes its like Shifter but at least Shifter didn't claim to be true to the original.

You can disable shit that you don't like though

Unlikely, if ill ever play it itll be somewhere far down the line. The only reason i finally mustered up the will to put another 9 hours into deus ex in the past 2 days to force myself through it was because mankind divided is free on PS+

Although at the 25 hour mark I finally started somewhat appreciating what the game was when i accepted that its an RPG that merely uses an fps control scheme. However even then the enjoyment was fought against by the annoyingly difficult segments they kept forcing down my throat with endless waves augmented commandos, mechs and men in black

I will admit that the game has good atmosphere and is far more creepy/disturbing than the prequels with things like aliens or the men in black self destructing when killed

>picked realistic combat
I feel like I made a huge mistake
Should I start again?

if you prefer the prequels by eidos you're a total soyboy cuckold mangina bugman

>annoyingly difficult segments they kept forcing down my throat with endless waves augmented commandos, mechs and men in black
Yes, the game becomes pretty shitty towards the end, I just used the laser sword which instantly kills everything with a single whack.

Nostalgia is serious business for some people. Worst offenders are games with labyrinth map "designs" and some keycard shit thrown in.
I'll take a magic map that tells me where to go over that old shit any day.

>didnt have to bear another second of the combat

>deus ex
>combat
lol you're terrible

Realistic is the only way to play

soycore

I still can't figure out if I want Aqualung or Environmental Resistance.

Deus Ex doesn't have labyrinth map design though, it's barely any different from Human Revolution, also it does have maps with arrows point where things are.

Nah.
That's like picking "master" for a STALKER game.
Perfectly fine and how it's meant to be played.

except that the original literally feeds you soy

if i had to say based beating the original/hr and trying out MD quickly, id gladly take everything else from the originals but overhaul the mechanics by implementing everything from the newer games

deus ex seems like the type of game that gets enjoyable when you know everything about the levels and fuck around with the mechanics doing X thing perfectly, but doing those things by trudging through blind is retardedly unfun for the most part due to how abysmal the mechanics actually are and how JC is not only made of glass but youre either using genuine peashooters like the assault rifle or oneshotting everything with the dragons tooth/ gep gun

story/characters/artstyle/maybe the writing in general from the original

gameplay/graphics from the prequels

>deus ex
>combat
>lol you're terrible

>do anything u wangg!!11
>except anything but barebones stealth

I never maxed out a single skill, I had advanced stats in pistols, heavy weapons, electronics, lockpicking and hacking. The stealth in the game felt unreliable at best with how inconsistent the enemy AI felt and how stealthing around the levels while still figuring out the objectives would have been fairly insufferable in general. Even after beating the game I still dont know whether or not the mechs can actually hear or just see me and what the general detection ranges are for enemies and whether or not light has anything to do with it

Doesn't matter, 95% of the augs are completely obsolete and you'll never use them.

If you think Deus Ex combat is bad you've never played VTMB, Deus Ex combat is serviceable.

>advanced in electronics, lockpicking and hacking
What a gigantic waste of skill points, might as well have maxed out swimming while you're at it.

You don't have to be smart to enjoy Deus Ex but you have to be somewhat educated. You might start by reading a science fiction book or have a significant real life experience and then return to the game.

I would have liked it more if it was a book or a proper RPG instead of having this pseudo freeform gameplay that just felt like shit. None of the things that I liked about it had anything to do with the combat or stealth mechanics which makes up 85% of your playtime

Just because stealth is the most efficient way to get through the game doesn't mean you have to use it every time. It's an RPG, you're supposed to play the game based on your character not the way to get the most points with the least amount of effort. If you play as a terminator battle mech you'll be using the "useless" augs that you don't use as a stealth infiltrator.

...

Fuck you katana combat is dope.

The gameplay itself is kind of boring, but nothing too atrocious. It's got a great feel that makes searching through the details interesting. And besides that the level design is genius, how can you not appreciate that?

I didn't even disable the stamina system (which is something you can do) and it didn't hinder my movement a single time in multiple playthroughs. You're fucking up if you don't have Athletics maxed out after the first skills screen.

So that makes IW non-canon then? Because the Helios ending isn't the only ending IW branched off of.

I liked the level design and the interplay of finding codes, hacking, using lockpicks/ multitools and just navigating the areas in general but the game annoyed me more than it didnt when the game started amping up the combat difficulty for the sake of the game being close to the end. Its the sole reason I suddenly took 2 levels in heavy weapons because the levels were suddenly filled with enemies that I either basically oneshotted or they killed me in 2 seconds

There is a Aug capsule every level?
I missed the one in Hell's kitchen because I confused the upgrade capsule for a Aug one

Just get good though.

So play the game again and this time save up EMP grenades or spec into machine invisibility the whole point of the game is finding new ways to play it. I guarantee there's aspects to your approach you didn't consider or tools int he level you would find with a fresh look.

There's at least one Aug canister and one upgrade cansiter in Hell's Kitchen. The upgrade is in a locked room where you rescue Ford Schick, the speed aug (one of the best in the game) is in a safe in the underground section of the NSF warehouse.

by the end of the game you find duplicates of all the aug installs so don't worry about it

All of the endings are cannon. JC killed Page, merged with Helios and brought about the new Dark Age.

>implying JC would bring about a "Dark Age"
fake news, not canon.

I found basically the first two main missions to be the slowest parts. After that the game had me by the balls and wouldn't let go. It was like my first time experiencing VTMB as a Malkavian all over again. JC Denton was a great character.
Granted, I played the Revision version. I hear the levels got redesigned, so I can't tell if the original level design was bad in places, or if Revision just has shit level design. I got lost a lot in DXHR in Hengsha, too.

Aww man you should have played vanilla first it's a perfect game. The revision is good too but it's more like an expansion.

I never even noticed the stamine system. Honestly the only issue I had with GMDX is that flashlight drained the energy stupidly fast, but that might have been fixed in the newest version.
