It clearly says his name is Monokuma you daft cunt.
Read the OP, there's only 5 lines.
Monobear is stupid and gay, just like you OP
Monokuma sounds cooler
play the game
Because Monokuma sounds like Monochrom whereas Monobear means nothing
Monokuma is a pun on monochrome. Monobear isn't.
I played it. Read the OP.
Monobear was used by the first fan translation which they needed to distance themselves from a much as they could.
Monokuma sounds cooler
play it again
You don't translate names between languages.
>translating names
Hello Treehouse translator!
>mfw reading this post
i think you missed something
In the last point the Op states "His name is Monobear". However the game says Monokuma no Monobear.
And Danganronpa means bullet refutation but not only did they not translate it, they didn't even separate the 2 words, so it's more like bulletrefutation.
>translating names
>Homura = Pyra
>Niyah = Nia
>Byakko = Dromarch
>Hana = Poppi
>Saika = Pandoria
>Meleph = Morag
>Kagutsuchi = Brighid
Thanks treehouse
Because the K sound in kuma is supposed to sound like the K sound in "chrome". It mixes languages but his name is meant to sound like the English word Monochrome, because he's a black and white bear.
Consider yourself spoonfed, OP.
Read the fourth greentext.
>Except treehouse didn't localize XC2
That's a stretch
Do you not understand the concept of a name? You wouldn't take a Japanese person named Ichiro and start calling him first son. HEY FIRST SON HOW'S IT GOING DUDE! Fuck off.
Your mom's vagina was too when I fucked her last night.
WTF?? Rude
Except they already do that and butcher japanese names.
Oogami become ogami
Ouma become Oma and so on.
The translaters even transliterate pharses.
There' a phrase in japanese transliterated means "before breakfast" which is meant to that "it was so easy".
They literally translate it as "I did it before breakfast", so it sounds odd as if the character was literally talking about doing it before eating rather than how simply the task was.
This Damn off... kid.... dont EVER try to DAMN with my anime translation ever again...
*which is meant to imply that "it was so easy".
>Oogami become ogami
>Ouma become Oma and so on.
That's hardly the same thing
Monobear sound just as gay as OP
While I agree with you OP, that the translation is fucking horrible, Spike Chuunisoft asked them to keep that.
siliconera.com
>Since Danganronpa is a story driven game could you tell us about the process of localizing it? Was there anything that Spike Chunsoft requested?
>PS: The only specific request from Spike Chunsoft was to keep Monokuma’s name as Monokuma. Other than that, they have been extremely flexible and supportive regarding our choices, and they went above and beyond in terms of modifying graphic text, adjusting gameplay elements to fit English audio, and things of that nature.
Monobear doesn't sound as good as Monokuma
Hello, everyone! My name is Dragon Isee, and with my assistant Evening Village (who loves burgers and who I met after her sister, Thousandfathoms Village, was killed), I investigate crimes and defend clients as a defense attorney! My rival is the prosecutor Clever Swordedge, who I was in primary school with (together with my first client, Youknow Forsure). He was mentored by Fromhell Demon, a famous prosecutor (who is now gone, but his legacy continues with his daughter, Dark Demon).
These days I've taken proteges myself, like Surprise Lawboy and Moon Heartnoise, and adopted a daughter, Seethrough. Life is swell here in Japanifornia.
>literally translating a pronoun
>Localize game
>Three characters, Vega. M. Bison and Balrog.
>Vega is now M. Bison
>M. Bison is now Balrog
>Balrog is now Vega
wat
>Not knowing what a pronoun is
Monobear sounds dumb.
Monokuma sounds cool.
It's because a black boxer with the name M. Bison is too much like Mike Tyson.
I love the Ultimate Cosplayer, Tsumugj!
I love Angie!
I love Akane!
I LOVE ASAHINA!
>removing a vowel is the same as translating
sasuga retard!
I bet you wanted Danganronpa's title to be translated too, didn't you
Junko
...
>translating/changing names
why do people even do this?
>Monokuma
>Has more than one colour
Doing that would remove the monochrome pun.
Fear of triggering weebs, likely.
>that the translation is fucking horrible
What? It seemed fine to me
such a dignified creature
>I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Emos on fire in the academy basement. I watched Cure-W glitter in the dark near Towa City. All those moments will be lost, like pee... in the snow. Time to die.
But we did see that first part. Was she retarded?
>Oogami become ogami
>Ouma become Oma and so on.
Are you retarded?
That's how romanization of おう works, retard
Tokyo is not Tokyo, it's Toukyou. And Osaka is not Osaka, it's Oosaka.
Tekken pulled the same shit with Kuma, and so did One Piece with Bartholomew Kuma.
>You look like a good joe
I thought his name was Shuichi
I love Junko!
>Tokyo
>Tou means east, and Kyou means capital
>It's name means East Capital
>The English translation keeps it as Tokyo
Why? It's name is East Capital. Faggot
consider if you will monochrome is an foreign word in japan, kuma is native.
by not translating it you retain the ratio, but the kuma part is now foreign and the mono part is native.
I'dd show her an European castle with vampire butters, if you catch my dick...
I love Junko!
Would you die for her?
I want to stab a fucking knife multiple times through Junko's mutilated body to make sure that pyschopath stays dead!
isn't teddie in persona just called kuma in the japanese version? is that what you want monoteddie? i didn't think so kid
Mukuro, pls go.
I love Kirumi!
I haven't been asked this in months but of course!
>hi, my name is juan
>oh, hi john
>john? I just told you my name is juan
>yeah but it means john in english, so you're john
>Kuma
>Kuma means bear
>His name means Bear (Bear)
>The English translation keeps it as Kuma
Why? His name is Bear.
I finally finished v3
I don't feel so good
They tried that, actually. That's why the first Danganronpa has Trigger Happy Havoc added to the English title. That's what the title would be if they translated Danganronpa.
what's your iq score? lower than 200 and you won't understand the ending
>Akuma
>Kuma means bear
>His name means a bear (just one bear)
Why? His name is Gouki.
He already did, long ago. It's just his specter now that remains, haunting this image board for all eternity
199
I get the meta shit they were going for but making chiaki three layers of fictional hurts
>making chiaki three layers of fictional hurts
Well at least you admitted to being too stupid to understand the ending before you said this or I would be insulting you right now.
The ending didn't change a single thing about the rest of the Danganronpa series.
>meta shit
I'm sorry user, you were so close but just a little bit too stupid
What do you mean?
>Chiaki is not a real person
>She's in the fictional Danganronpa game which was made in V3's world
>V3's world is a videogame (to us in the real world)
that's three layers of fictional
How is it not meta when they're talking about what the audience wants out of a Danganronpa game
because Monobear sounds fucking retarded
they made a good decision keeping monokuma instead
>How is it not meta when they're talking about what the audience wants out of a Danganronpa game
You *AREN'T* the audience
No average English speaker is gonna see Oogami and know one of the o's is silent until he's told. Necessary change.
Removing u's from Ouma, Touko, Kyouo, and Souda wasn't necessary, though. THAT pissed me off.
>Decision
Spike Chunsoft forced NISA to use Monokuma and told them Monobear was out of the question. Good on them.
Danganronpa 2's world is also a videogame to us in the real world. D2 being a videogame in V3 doesn't change that.
Seriously? That's pretty cool of them
How was America able to win the Cold War when Stalin's ability to erase individuals from reality like some sort of deity is clearly shown here?
This ain't the filename thread.
Which fan translation? I remember playing Danganronpa 1 PSP with the SHSL titles, and that used Monokuma.
I know that but there are still clear parallels to what the V3 peaceful world audience and us as the audience desire from Danganronpa
I sort of agree and disagree
What I'm saying is that even though Chiaki overall is clearly a fictional character, there's a difference between her being a "real character" in universe vs her being an AI. And the V3 twist just makes it even more hilarious.
I don't know what you're getting at
