I like Cuphead but it's OST isn't that good. Undertale and especially Nier: Automata has one of the greatest soundtrack in gaming, even though it's bad compared to the original Nier

Cuphead's OST was one of the best this year, it completely deserves it. Deal with it, nerds.

Steam Awards is literally just a popularity contest. Just look at the Mom's Spaghetti nominees and the winner, it's fucking hilarious.

It's fine, but it's clearly the weakest aspect of the game.

I think the award that baffled me most was the no-combat award winner being a game with combat

I feel like most people will vote for a game they've played (or heard of, if none apply) regardless of the category, so of course it's a popularity contest.

As for the other, there's fucking Mania and Origins and a game everyone knew would be great wins the unexpected good gamw category
But well, it's just Steam awards. It's amazing CSGO wasn't nominated in every category with how fucking retarded the playerbase is

Most of categories had games in them which has nothing to do being nominated. Just look at "Suspension of Disbelief" winner and nominees - people have fucking difficulty even understanding what's asked from them.
No game in "Defies Description" actually defies description, they are mostly just not what they look like at first.
And on topic of Cuphead, it winning "Even Better Than I Expected" is just clear message that people simply voted for favorite games disregarding actual nominations. Run & Gun stages are fucking shit, and devs mostly wasted time making them and listening to idiots who didn't like boss rush original idea.

I don't disagree with the OST vote.
But Mania should have beaten out Cuphead. Everyone expected Cuphead to be decent, while Mania was one of those "will be shit or will be solid gold" moments.

Best part of the awards for me was Warframe getting the "Labor of Love" award. You damn well know the Valve people expected the TF2 update to win that.

I am actually listening to Funfair Fever right now. That ragtime is fucking awesome, no amount of AAAAHAAAAH choruses with sad violins in Nier can surpass it.

I'd disagree with that, Cuphead was always marketed by its art style first. It came out and a lot of people were shocked that it was a pretty good game. Mania looked great from the get go.

I still wouldn't agree that it has a better OST than Automata and Transistor, but that's because the OST for both of those games are AAA+ good.

While personally I feel soundtrack should have gone to Nier and the other to Sonic Mania (who would have thought a modern 2D sonic could be so good?) I never take any award thing seriously as it's all cancer anyway.

Cuphead won the worse than expected from me, not sure why everybody sucks it off so much. Is it because the dev remortgaged their house or something? Is it more of a pity thing?

Art style is gorgeous but the gameplay was mediocre imo. Not a bad game at all but not worthy of all these awards they've been getting over other games.

Cuphead is the only game to have different variants for the same level. It helps keep things fresh and unpredictable for a little longer just like the attack patterns. Unless you're a shitter who had to restart 100 times you can hear new shit when replaying the game for a second time
