I was reading that it's actually been in development as a concept for ten years, before even Bayonetta.
Shame they lost the copyright to MS, I'd like to have seen this come to fruition (though preferably on a different platform). I guess that's what happens to 3rd party studios sometimes, someone has to publish it.

If there's concern then why would they partner with Platinum in the first place? It should be widely known that they're a highly skilled but highly niche developer who basically just makes cult classics. Nobody should ever expect to make money off of a Platinum game.

Even after 100 ports I bet Okami is still considered a financial let down.

He couldn't meet deadlines and constantly postponed development targets and the shit he was showing Microsoft wound up being terrible. Kamiya couldn't deliver on what was promised.

Microsoft was too hands on, and also Scalebound probably wasn't going to be a multi-million unit seller like MS would like, so they dropped it.

I don't normally like Platinum, but I still feel bad for Kamiya. This game was his baby, an idea floating around the offices since Platinum's inception, and this is how it ends. It's even worse if MS is the owner of the rights to Scalebound.
