There's no depth to it, In Deception, you could combine combos and stuff if you were good at it, but you can't really do that in Armageddon because there's only 2 fighting styles and fighting combos feel a lot more scripted, a lot of characters also have the same moves, there's no fatalities, and the unlockable stages are just backgrounds and are not interactive.
Huh I always had the impression Shaolin Monks wasn't liked much at all by the community.

uhhh... I mean, as a series I think it's great, I still play some of its games. As a fighting game though? I think it has one of the most casual fan bases, it's expected since it's pretty much entry level to the world of FGs. I'm still gonna buy MK11 but, aside from pretty graphics and more gore, I don't expect anything great coming from NRS.

What happened? Did NRS lose interest or did WB shut it down?
Midway shut down the studio to try save money during the Viacom ownership days. That team reformed and became Sony San Diego. Then made God Of War. It was over a decade ago, but there was concept art made for it.
I wish they would ditch the overabundance of unfuzzyable 50/50 mixups that lead to 30% full combos and jump in punches that reach 3/4 of the screen stuffing any anti-air normal. At least they told the fully armored EX launchers to fuck off. MK9 was a mess balance wise but at least it got some things right like counter poking and mid hitting normals not advancing half the screen in 5 frames while being safe on block.

When they create new characters that Boon is happy with for those realms because outside of a few like Kenshi, Tanya and Li Mei. The MK team didn't really like a lot of the new characters they made for post UMK3. Havik's fate is up in the air even though he's one of the characters the fans liked from those games Quan Chi crushed his head in the comics after the plot to unleash the Blood God failed after Earthrealm and Outworld made a temporary alliance to stop it. But it would be unusual for a Cleric of Chaos to stay dead. Especially in the Netherrealm .
