Did he kill Rock, Proto, Light and all the rest or what?
what happened between classic and the x series?

it's left ambiguous
so they can continue making Megaman shit and X shit.

No one needs to know

For fuck's sake, stop regurgitating this shit theory. It was denied openly. So no, that did not happen.

>Inajewne being in charge of deciding Megaman lore
oh how stupid of you user, he's just a bussinessman, he was never a designer or an actual creator of anything

Bass was cooler.

He was the damn producer, he had a say. I don't care if everyone hates him now, when it was HIS JOB, he had a say.

>producer
>doing anything but sitting in a chair and drinking coffee

Officially no. Unofficially it's a better idea than anything else.

>I don't like him, so I personally nullify his authority

he didnt kill megaman see quint

>People will deny any positive involvement Inafune or Inti Creates had with the Mega Man series for the rest of all time because of Mighty No. 9
Remember that time he fucked off for X5 and only told them that they had to make Zero die and without him they made a horrible game?

But X5 was the best game in the series.
An odd coincidence that.

>X5 was the best game in the series.
Literally no one believes this.

What gave you that idea?

Yes, X5 was the best game in the series, the Zero, ZX series, Mega Man 9 and 10 are all unplayable trash, I'm sure.

I was referring solely to the X series, the Zero and ZX series are better compared to all the X games.

>X5
>better than X1, X2, and X4
How can you possibly justify this? It recycles half of X4's ideas alone, and does absolutely nothing better.

Producers pay the money and then look away. That just proves he had even less input that I previously assumed.

No one knows their fate but zero did not do shit. Some where along the line wily started laying low and building zero to fuck up the world with a virus since he was wasting time with the other robot masters. The older robots got decommissioned or all eliminated at some point and light worked on x with emphasis on making the most lawful good human like robot possible that could not be infected by viruses while creating a weapons system in case he needed power. Wily died but left zero set to activate with that virus and light kicked the bucket while leaving x running a program so that he would understand morals.

The "cataclysm theory" is logically false, because if he had gotten loose nobody could've put him back in his capsule. Inafune is a hack and the way he denied that theory is retarded, but it's still false.

>implying the Zero series isn't shit

actually bait

Capcom knows better than to say for sure.

And come on, do you really WANT to see the Classic cast die?

A producer of a series has more say than some fan-made sprite webcomic. Sorry user, your fanfiction was debunked.

>Boco browses all the boards I browse
>Boco uses my exact argument
Shit... What if I AM Boco!?

Go replay X4 and X5 and tell me that 4 is actually better.
I've played the fuck out of all the games, I even like 6 in some ways, 5 is objectively the best in the X series.

Not him, but I liked all of those games.

>do you really WANT to see the Classic cast die?
Edgelord teens do.

>5 is objectively the best in the X series.
How about you do what I said and actually support your damn argument?
I have played them all in recent years. X5 ranks under X8, which is already in the middle of the series quality.

If you marathon them you'll be shocked by just how many ideas X5 regurgitates that X4 pioneered. They're the same game except 5 is lackluster and boring, interrupted by Alia frequently, and held back by a shitty countdown and random chance of endings. It's garbage.

Even if the dumbass theory -hadn't- been outright denied, it'd still be dumb. You'd think such an event would have been recorded in history and would be brought up when Zero was discovered during the X era. But no, Zero was just a mysterious 'reploid' found in a dusty lab and subjugated after a violent first contact.

Yeah dude he raped Roll too and when he was done he killed her and he looked Light in the face and said "You're next" and Light was all "Please don't just kill me" and Zero was all "What do you mean what did you think I was gonna do?" "Well I presumed you were going to rape me too." "Oh heavens no dude you look like Santa Claus that would be gross."

You're allowed to LIKE them. I just want to hear some fucking arguments how 5 could be better when X1 is damn near the pinnacle of platformers. No game in the series has as many well realized features as X had. Many of which were actually lost or made into worse gimmicks as the series went on.

To me it just sounds like you're fanny flustered since you got zero killed on your first playthrough and it was forever tainted in your eyes.

Nah, he's right. I consider X6 better than X5 by virtue of being enjoyable to masochists.

No one cares Infajewne.
Cataclysm theory sounds cool, so fuck off.

I have no qualms with Zero dying. He does it plenty. He does it in X1 and I praise that game without hesitation.

Besides, the save system means you can savescum. That doesn't make the random endings any more justified though. Games with alternate endings should be 100% controllable by in-game decisions.

There was occasional genuinely good parts in X6.
It's just covered in so much shit.

X5 is bad. It's got shitty stages like McWhalen's full-length slow autoscroller+unavoidable multiple backtrack hell and whatever you're even supposed to call Kraken's shit stage. It's got the constant navigator interruptions. It's got the absurd chip system. It's got the shitty armor system where you have to collect all the pieces to equip any of them, while the armors themselves are simultaneously both boring and overpowered as fuck, and the second armor is gated off by the full completion of the first armor, and all the armor pieces require very specific weapons to get. It's got the terrible boss weapons that are atleast as bad or worse as X4's ones, and Zero's moves are basically copied from X4 except just element-swapped around. It's got bullshit like Ooga Booga being Kaizo Spikes: The Boss.

A playable character dying and an NPC dying are two very different things.
But you did actually get Zero killed your first time through didn't you?

I honestly don't recall. And X is better than Zero, so I wouldn't have cared.

>Inafune's only instructions for X5 is that Zero has to die
>They can't even do that right and add in multiple endings

I just recently realized why a lot of people say they somehow enjoyed X6 despite it being a shitshow. It's actually got some decent core megaman gameplay hidden under the heap of trash. It's got a lot of parts where you deal with enemies and platforming hazards at the same time. It's got parts where you get swarmed by a retarded amount of enemies but that's a good time to use giga crush or charged boss weapons or special moves. Some of the boss weapons are actually usable again after the drought in X4 and X5.

Also as much of a trainwreck the game is, it's kind of funny in hindsight how hardcore Gate is. He goes into meme-tier lenghts to fuck you over.
>actually makes his fortress out of spikes and pits so you cant even get in
>actually makes his henchman out of met helmets and sends him after you before you might even get his weakness
>actually makes himself out of practically indestructible armor to the point nothing but his own attacks are powerful enough to damage it

No.

Didn't even need to be denied. We knew exactly how they all went already.

Reminder that Shadow is the best designed X armor, Gaea is second place, the X8 armors are kind of ugly but they're third place, everything else is over designed trash that doesn't know what a fucking color scheme is.

BURN

ebin

Reminder that if you haven't done a no-dash no damage no weapons speed run of X1-3 then you're a filthy fucking casual.

>We knew exactly how they all went already.
We do?

Who hates themself enough to unironically do something like this?

I'm still pissed about that jump in Gate's stages that fucks over Shadow armor. Fucking assholes.

reminder that unless you can do a no-jump, no shoot run you shouldnt be allowed to post on this fucking site

Yes. Light died of old age, Rock was taken back in time, Proto's reactor gave out and he was scrapped. Roll and all other Light bots were scrapped, his lab was bulldozed.

youtube.com/watch?v=N8MuoxyZcl8&index=1&list=PLD5FA65F3FB1E2625
The X6 minimalist is the high point though.

Some of those are logical conclusions, but none of that is spelled out. Also, we know Quint's future didn't come to be, because Wily never decided to live in peace like the Wily of his future, which we know for fact since Zero was built. That kind of precludes him getting kidnapped into the past under those circumstances.

>Wily of the future stops trying to conquer the world outright, just works on his secret plans so he can win in the end
>everybody assumes he's given up

>his lab was bulldozed.
That doesn't sufficiently explain how his lab was lost to time. Normally when someone bulldozes something, they clear away the debris so the land can be reused. I think it's safe to say some kind of cataclysm happened in Light's era.

...

Explain This.

Hidden Joke Battle like Cutman in X8 that was scrapped

Archie of course has no say in actual canon. They did their best to bridge the gaps in games, like their take on Super Rockman Adventure.

Fine. They bulldozed what was above-ground and filled in what was below, then built over it or some shit.

>what happened between classic and the x series?
Why would you want to know? The two series are thematically incompatible. No need to try and put them together in any way.

Wily created Zero to be the strongest robot ever, but fucked up in the programming stage and Zero turned out to be a wild, frenzied berserker who was incapable of listening to orders. Having no use for a weapon that couldn't obey his commands, he sealed Zero away alongside some virus he was working on.

Megaman kills himself through time travel.

>No need to try and put them together in any way.
I dunno. I appreciate smaller nods.

So uhh, what's with the theory that Virus is digitized Wily himself?

"Isoc" was found an empty husk after High Max was defeated, which seems to imply that his "soul" was capable of transmigrating. The only other character shown to be capable of doing this was Sigma, who had merged with a virus.

I don't. It feels like Classic Sonic meeting up with Shadow the Hedgehog.

As villainous as Wily was, Isoc wasn't really 1:1 with what we'd seen of him. My guess is that, like Light, Wily found a way to digitalize himself, but his method was flawed so he became corrupted, obsessed towards creating the "strongest robot" and not caring about anything else but that goal.

Man.
Megaman's universe and lore are depressing as fuck.
Go from simple bots to help with day to day tasks into complete destruction of most organic life on the earth and one of the last "humans" live on the moon as a diety.

>wait so like

kys PLEASE

Also, while this idea was completely ignored and deleted from the script in the English localization of X2, in the Japanese version, there are heavy direct references to Wily, and Serges often says things that only Wily would say.

I mean was it ever proved or disproved or anything. The only time i bothered with MM lore was a few years ago and i used some MM forum for that where people were translating Nip only books with megaman loredumps but i don't remember much but speculation on that whole Virus=Wily part

We don't actually know what's up with Wily. It's just heavily implied that he was possessing Serges' and Isoc's bodies.

X6 > X5

an important flaw in this theory if you ask me is the fact that Zero was never canonically finished. His upper body wasn't completed and he had no sword, in fact the cutscene in X4 seems to imply he was never made with a buster either since he has to pick up a lead pipe to bash Sigma's head in with

Headcanon is just that Wily had no idea what the fuck he was making, put that W gem on Zero's forehead to cause him immense pain if he ever got too crazy (it activates when he's about to break Sigma's neck after torturing him), then realised he couldn't fix it and gave up and/or died

In X5, he is shown with the buster in a flashback. The reason Zero's buster wasn't shown in X4 was because it was removed from the gameplay. They wanted internal consistency, even if it wasn't consistent with the series as a whole.

I think so too since x easily influenced him into becoming a good guy. He was still had robot aids and was infecting and ruining everything tho

Meanwhile in the alternate timeline
>Dude the internet lmao
>Dude EM waves lmao

Thanks. i just made a quick glance aeround internet and it seems that implications are indeed barely a few steps away from direct confirmation.

there were no flashbacks in X5 iirc

Will X9 have some more DEEPEST LORE?

are you fucking retarded?

There was a single CG of Zero fighting Sigma from back then. It shows Zero with his buster.

Why didn't zero just put x back together after fagpizo stabbed him

calm down you fucking autist

Mi moreno

I hope it makes some sense of existing lore if we get it. I don't like feeling like even the writers don't understand what is happening.

yup you're right
that kinda sucks and i'm tempted to ignore it completely
but fuck it there's a scene of zero being built in this flashback too and he has the buster there
how annoying

>x9
user, both x and zero have already perished in the games and turned into stupid toys for kids to use in ZX

Did get put back in the capsule?
In X4 he was just wandering some old Wiley facility wasn't he?
I know the cataclysm thing's bullshit but if Wiley's fortress went into some kind of lockdown when Zero got out I could see it happening.

No. Zero was found in a capsule by the Maverick Hunter unit. Apparently, they either tripped something or opened it themselves, but Zero woke up and killed all of them.

Fuck the MMZ timeline. If we get an X9 I hope it shits all over it and branches off into anything it wants.

Fuck the "timeline" in general, honestly.

You two do know that they can make as many Mega Man X games as they want and never have to stop because the X8 doesn't directly lead into Zero or anything

I'm aware, but I wouldn't even care if they directly conflict with the idea of the elf wars or anything MMZ/ZX establishes.

They were retired like any other robot. Light and Wily died of old age. Maybe Rock became Quint if that's not an alternate timeline.

The idea of Classic having an edgy cataclysm ending is fucking stupid, its lighthearted as fuck. X, Zero, and the Maverick Virus are just the last works of both doctors, left hidden away in secret labs because Light would not live to see X's completion and because Wily couldn't control them.

Ok I forgot about that, I'm thinking too much of how Sigma found him not the team that actually stumbled in on him in the first place.

This. The X games got pretty dumb, but the whole magic fairy apocalypse is just ogre the line. What the hell was Inafune thinking.

Reminder that:
>They can make as many classic Mega Man games as they want without leading into the X series because all you need to know is that X happens later
>They can make as many Mega Man X games as they want without leading into the Zero series because all you need to know is that Zero happens later
>Zero as a series ended and leads directly into ZX
>They can make as many ZX games as they want without having to lead into the Legends series because all you need to know is that Legends happens WAY later
>They can make as many new series between ZX and Legends as they want because when the actual fuck does Legends take place
