Eventually gave up checking on this and avoid /vp/. Did it ever actually get released?

I did try converting some of the sprites myself but it's a lot of fucking work and I would have to get someone to do all the missing sprites and animations. I'd be willing to convert all of the ones from fire red if someone made the ones for johto since I'm not an artist.

it's actually fairly challenging and somewhat balanced unlike the main games.

The harder ones are just grinding games, though.

There are still a few romhacks for gens I and II, albeit not very many, but a share of them nonetheless, the main ones probably being Brown and its sequel, Prism. And while the later gens are harder to hack, I think people have gotten somewhere with them at least. At the very least BlazeBlack and VoltWhite / BBVW 2 exist, so clearly it isnt impossible, even if those are just difficulty / catch 'em all hacks. Even if it was impossible, gen III romhacking has got far enough that basically everything from later gens can be implemented anyway.
