I wanna get into jrpgs but I am scared of pointless boring grinding. I am planning on getting tons of jrpgs on ps2(mod) and then 3ds when I am less of a poorfag. Do I have to watch out for games with pointless shit like leveling one skill for a gazillion hours like in western rpgs or can I actually just play and enjoy myself without the feeling of wasted time? Talking about stuff like Fire emblem, bravely, tales of series, dragonquest, xenogears etc etc
I only played final fantasy until now
I wanna get into jrpgs but I am scared of pointless boring grinding...
The only FE games you will never need to grind, just be aware that they usually provide you with a strong character early on that you should never rely on. Most tactics games (FE, Final Fantasy Tictacs, Tactics Ogre) have a strong emphasis on going from story piece to story piece, avoiding grinding completely.
In FE games*
if you want to acquire a taste for JRPGs, the very first games you should play are the Mario RPGs
I shit you not these games are the most fun you will have while learning wether it's your thing or not
also Dragon Quest facilitates Grinding via Metal Slimes, so it's not as tough as you might think
thanks anons
>I want to play a genre known for having lots of grind
>but I don't like grinding
Reconsider you life choices.
most jrpgs don't actually require you to grind, especially all the way in the ps2 era. people do low level runs of games all the time, so the amount of xp you get playing normally is more than enough
what you need is to make several save files in case you cuck yourself out of a good item, and pay attention to the mechanics
and depending on the game you may want a guide
You can try making the grinding useful: if there are side quests, do them. Also if there are items or gear you want specifically.
Most jrpgs don't require grinding.Certainly not in the "this boss is too hard I need more levels" sense. Unless you do something like run from battles constantly. As says the Mario rpgs are a great place to start
Is that Choa?
>I wanna get into jrpgs but I am scared of pointless boring grinding.
The you don't want to get into JRPGs. Just watch anime and fuck off.
The fact that the only reason not to run from most battles is to get enough exp to defeat bosses makes what you do practically grinding.
>press the 'skip gameplay' button
>get mad when the game punishes you
escaping from encounters was a mistake
Few JRPGs require actual grinding, i.e running into battles with the intention of powering up
Some require you to fight a few of the encounters you come across throughout the game
Most are beatable even if you ignore all random/avoidable fights and just do story battles
There are only a few jrpgs that require grinding. You only grind if you want to or want to 100% or something.
And
>emu
>fighting trash mobs along the way to gain experience is the definition of "grinding" now
This generation of gamers are so fucking shit. Just go back to your first person shooter you ADHD fucks
>I wanna get into jrpgs
why
>gamers
Whether or not it qualifies as grinding is irrelevant, if there are "trash mobs" that add nothing to the game aside from pointless padding that wastes the player's time it's probably a bad game. Good JRPGs make every battle worthwhile.
Trash mobs are kind of by definition nothing but grind.
>good jrpgs
So none?
You can cut out any sort of exp farming/grinding entirely by playing Advance Wars over FE to get superior tbs and superior music
>Advance Wars over FE
They are not jrpgs. WTF nu/v/
>Just go back to your first person shooter you ADHD fucks
Every time. Like JRPGs aren't even more about the mindless gratification of pressing buttons and getting points for doing so while allowing you to pretend in your head you're doing something smart.
