I've heard people say this is the "best wrpg of all time" Are they talking out their ass or is it just that good?
I've heard people say this is the "best wrpg of all time" Are they talking out their ass or is it just that good?
It's alright, definitely bought into the hype when it came out though. Ultimately an unoriginal and derivative setting
It's an OK game. I got bored out of my mind and never finished it though.
> Ultimately an unoriginal and derivative setting
But very well-realized. With massive amounts of in-game lore. One of the reasons Inquisition annoyed me so much was because of all the ret-cons.
>Inquisition
>all the ret-cons
There is only one - female qunari warriors.
Definitely not. I will credit it with sparking the CRPG resurgence we're currently in the middle of, which is nice and has coincidentally resulted in several better games, like both Divinity Original Sin titles.
>like both Divinity Original Sin titles.
what? original sins arent that good
>like both Divinity Original Sin titles
Even DA 2 is better than this trash.
now I have that dank main menu music stuck in my head
Fuck no.
its ok
Fuck yes. At least DA 2 is not completely linear and isn't trying to be funny.
It's as solid as a 7 can be.
its a terrible rushed sjw game
kys
It's decent, not all that great imo. I see where the praise comes from but to me it feels pretty dry story-wise and the game play can be nicely challenging and also an irritating slog.
do you have a single fact to back that up?
It came out in 2009, well before the SJW crisis started. Are you high?
>whole theme and motif is le raycis white human privilege poor elves boohoo
>entire gameplay is holding r1 and pressing square or cross
>game feels like it's going to crash any second and it's jank as fuck
>loghain has no fucking reason for his motives besides being a huge dick archetypal bad guy
>darkspawn are just generic orcs but even worse some how
fuck this game bioware was never good
It's the first Bioware game with gay romance.
Imagine Baldur's Gate, but playable. DA is not that but close
I don't think you played DA2.
I wouldn't call it the best, but it really is a fantastic game, in fact its one of bioware's best imo
No, that's KotOR.
yeah but its not SJW, they dont go around displaying their flaming homosexuality or go like HEY YOU KNOW IM GAY??
it's okay. Fallout is probably my favorite western RPG.
>dont go around displaying their flaming homosexuality or go like HEY YOU KNOW IM GAY??
So, you never talked to Zevran?
>r1 and pressing square or cross
>Feel like replaying DA:O
>Remember The Fade
i agree with you.
it's good but it's not even the best Bioware game, it would be better without shitty parts like the fade or the deep roads
probably my favorite rpg
deep roads and fade are pretty boring though
You defend DA2, and with that argument? You must get paid, really, really well.
what was wrong with the fade? i dont remember anything about it at all. loved the game though
Elf assassin guy flirts with male Grey Wardens. If you rebuke him, even lightly, you lose friendship with him.
...
cute.
My alltime favourite rpg. Not your average action oriented shite.
dao is to lotr what methadone is to heroin
Overrated but pretty good. certainly not best of all time
the best wrpg is probably a crpg like planescape or baldurs gate
Morrigan best girl btw
the fade did fucking suck but playing as that arcane warrior class was a blast
How can you be wrong on every point. This must be bait
"BEST" wrpg might be pushing it but it's definitely up there and a perfect bridge from old school WRPG's like Baldur's Gate and the new generation (at the time)
It's got compelling characters, a fun and deep turn based combat system that allows for a lot of customization and a pretty decent story that clips along nicely with a fully realized world that has plenty of lore.
If you're in to RPG's then it's unmissable desu. It's got it's rough edges but it more than makes up for it in everything else it does so well.
>planescape or baldurs gate
lol
I love how those objectively shit games get overhyped because they came out 300 years ago
It's a good game. I've played it three times and enjoyed it enough. People always bitch about... well, basically, every major area of the game. But I always have a good time with it.
Just don't play an Arcane Warrior, they trivialize the entire game.
It's great.
Divinity 2 definitely dethroned Dragon Age and dethroned it, hard. But at the time DA:O came out I would have called it the best wrpg of all time, yeah. It's still solid.
do NOT buy the sequels. Don't even fucking consider it.
I played them for the first time only 2 years ago
They are objectively excellent games
You know how you play TellTale games but none of the decisions matter?
Well in DA:O the decisions fucking matter.
Not sure about the _best_ wrpg, but it's a really good game, the best bioware have done since NWN1 and BG2
Also, play mage. Just trust me and play as a mage.
Inquisition is alright though
...
It easily has one of the most complete and fulfilling endings in any videogame. Any the characters are all great, at least I like them all.
>Awakening
Pretty much DA:O 2, just with extra quests, skills, characters, areas, storyline, etc.
>2
Worse than 1 but also has some really interesting characters and storyline.
>Inquisition
I regret playing it. It has some good bits but I honestly didn't enjoy it much.
The quality of DA:O's content is mediocre, but you can tell they spent 5 years working on it. There's a shitload to do.
Dwarf noble > human noble > city elf > mage > dwarf commoner > dalish elf
>"best wrpg of all time"
thats a numale reddit oppinion because BG2 is the best wrpg of all time
That said DAO is good, really good and Bioware's last good game. Bonus points for the original setting too.
Switch City Elf with Human Noble and you're spot-on
Wasn't a meme at all, Inquisition is alright. It ain't great, but it's certainly an improvement to 2
Theres a mod that lets you skip the fade
DAO was way too structured, spoonfed and handheld the player, pioneered that shitty "create world depth by leaving a bunch of loose diaries around" thing, and had followers with tonnes of character but no actual depth
and the follower AI sucked so fucking much that I never got to play my own character on highest difficulty because I had to be microing bull the whole time
fite me im really mad
Best girl
Inquisition is 2 with a shitty single player MMO bolted on and no sense of humor.
It's the best fantasy wrpg of modern times.
>bra
who the FUCK has ever said that? this game is dogshit
They are most definitely talking out of their ass. The game is fairly decent, consistently at the high end of mediocre with occasional peaks into the real of being genuinely great, so I do recommend it, but best wrpg of all time it definitely is not.
It's not the best wrpg because there's always room for making a superior game than those released, but it's certainly up there with the classics
12 year old little faggots got their brains raped by the broodmother subplot thats all there is to this piece of shit of a game
Deep Roads mostly suffered from taking too long
So what are the best wrpgs?
Worst mod though
It's slightly above average. Has some likable characters, some boring ones and some not-so-likable characters. I felt like Mages got given a hell of a lot more options than Rogues and Warriors. Hell, Mages made better antimages than Templar, whose whole gimmick was hunting down mages.
>linear
>n64 tier graphics
>tiny zones
>garbage AI
>This game is not skyrim, 0/10
This site is for 18+
Neither were completely gay. You're thinking of Inshition
Happens with female warden, too
Zevran is just an all around pervert, but he doesn't go around screaming that he likes cock. He goes around sexually harassing everyone, even Shale
Hated the Fade, but didn't mind the Deep Roads. I really liked the Broodmother segment.
Posts like these exist because Hiro still didn't replace captchas with quick IQ tests.
>Morrigan best girl btw
Good lad
pretty good game, there are better wrpgs out there but if you're a wrpg fan you should eventually play it
Bioware didn't get infected by SJWism until 2011.
Can anyone here unironically enjoy Inquisition ?
City Elf=Dwarf Commoner>Mage>Dwarf Noble> Human Noble> Dalish Elf
Being a morriganfag is truly a double edged sword. You will never run out of porn content but you also never get away from her because it never stops.
One of those okish games you end up playing over and over for no reason. Bioware games seem to have that affect.
I thought it was mostly soulless shit, like an early warning of what was coming with ME:A. It was pretty successful, though, which is why they're making another one.
Hopefully that will be a hilarious mess like DA2. DA:I was just dull and repetitive.
Zevran's an elf. Elves are made for fucking.
It just fucking drags, even when you just do the main quests
Zevran is comically degenerate, but liking cock isn't his entire plot or character.
I can't finish inqusition, I've even skipped literally everything besides inner circle and the main story but then the game forces me to play the fucking side """"""""quests"""""" for power and I can't manage the effort. The leveling system is garbage , the numbers are so inflated that levelling doesn't feel like an achievement, all the gear feels useless because everyone is RARE or UNIQUE , to unlock a specialisation you had to do unironic fetch questing. I've tried 3 seperate times to get through this game because sometimes I do enjoy the main story but so much shit is just dragging it down.
Just finished the Grey Warden questline up to the Orlais courtroom stuff that I Needed 30 power for but haven't started it yet.
Even with a mod to remove war table timer the game feels like it drags so much
Why would you want it to stop? You'd end up getting bored with old fap material
They inflated to fuck out if it while making it empty as possible
>is it just that good
No. I mean, it's okay. I appreciate how many option there are in how I can make my character act, and the companions were well written and fun for the most part, plus there's enough of them so that you aren't forced to hang out with the ones you find annoying. The world, while unoriginal, is very fleshed out. But the gameplay is sluggish, boring, and repetitive. I only ever really had fun while playing as a mage. I'd give it a 6.5/10. It's okay, I don't feel like my time was wasted.
It's alright but I'll likely never replay purely because of the nonexistant enemy diversity. Those fucking dwarven caves especially made me want to kill myself.
>"best wrpg of all time"
Not even close.
>"best wrpg of the last decade"
Definitely.
>30 power
Gating the story behind forced MMO grinding is the worst part of the game, especially because they make it so obvious. But I guess that's what happens when you want a 40 hour game and you only have 8-10 hours of plot.
skyrim is garbage too. witcher 3 i was comparing it to
>DA2 is not completely linear
What? Is this fool serious?
>If you rebuke him, even lightly, you lose friendship with him.
He does it with females too. You don't lose very much approval and he stops hitting on you completely after that.
It's one of my favorite games. Only problem is it crashes constantly on my PC so I finished it but couldn't even convince myself to play awakening or to replay it. I'm going to have to buy it for a console one of these days. I don't know why the fuck people cry about the fade, it's fucking great and if the mage origin story wasn't so good I would never have even played 1/4th through the game. Actually playing a mage kind of sucks though, they're too damn good. If your opponents don't have a mage on their side chances are you'll win every fight without the slightest effort. The mage companions are alright though since they start with a few skills pre-selected and therefore you can't pour your autism into breaking the game as hard as you can with a fresh mage.
All of orzammar was shit. I might have stopped there if I hadn't returned to the circle right after.
Like I said, 18+.
