This always fucks with me, because I still think of the early 2000s as "recent" when in reality it's been almost 20 years. Like Deus Ex or Morrowind for instance, they're getting to be prehistoric at this point for a lot of people

Well, I'm not 50. But another thing, I don't really feel any progression between 2000 and current year. I don't know, maybe you only see the differences in hindsight. But by the year 2000, the 80s were already a distinct time period. When Vice City came out, it had been 16 years since 1986. Now it's been 16 years since Vice City, how would a modern GTA game parody the year 2002 in the same way?

Ultima 7 was very good, the game is still fresh and original, and it came out 26 years ago.
