Kenshi needs better combat mechanics and cities/world and less citybuilding. Great game in concept, but ruined by how you need to get a giant town full of people trained to get anywhere, because you either fight a heavy armored death squad or 60 people in rags wherever you go
Killing Floor 2
Black Mesa
Or you just mod a custom start where you have 5 guys with 20-30 points in combat skills. Much more fun and insanely easy.
Wasn't this being worked on during the 2000s already or am I mistaking it for a similar game
I imagine it will be a lot easier when they finally add the group fighting skill so your guys can get better against the giant army of peasants.
this is one of the few good ones and it's coming out in a matter of months, kill yourself OP
Hey to be fair they said Early 2018 so your investment is about to pay off
Yeah the guy was originally a security guard who worked on his dream game alone for most of its development history and only in the past few years did it sell enough that he could hire more staff.
I actually really like this game but the only way to have a long-lasting thread on good games is to post something deliberately contradictory or inflammatory in order to keep it bumped. This is just the only way to talk about these sorts of games on Sup Forums unfortunately.
Planet Explorers
it seemed so cool to younger me
>falling for early access
Ya'll niggas deserve it.
Kenshi is releasing in about a month, if all goes as planned.
what ps1 game is this?
Exanima. It's been a fucking year since they updated lol
Examina's arena mode is good enough that I consider it a complete little indie game.
is that you Peeve?
It's not a ps1 game, it's a pc sandbox game called kenshi
I remember this
Was it ever finished?
Who's peeve?
It will be like 99% complete after an upcoming update which will happen within a month. I'm super excited for it.
Rimworld
Planet Explorer and DayZ.
on the other hand anyone have some good experiences with EA? I've been getting really into Dead Cells and Slay the Spire. i had completely written off EA bullshit but these games are dang good already.
>muh grafix
Go play your xbox
Killing Floor 2
PUBG
(Killing Floor 2 is miles better now than in EA, so I'm content)
hes the kenshi shill. too bad only 17 people know about this games existence
Yeah it sucks. Well hopefully this thread might help things a bit.
good EA games:
caves of qud
Kenshi
Tangledeep
Factorio(don't care for it much myself but Sup Forums likes it)
Rimworld
Starsector(not on steam yet but still good)
obscure but good or at worst decent EA
kenshi
warsim: realm of aslona
Star traders frontiers
Regions of Ruin
EA games that got their act together
Starbound(still "needs mods to be good tier but beats what it was in early giraffe builds. I like it tho)
At least it was pretty comfy.
I wanted Starbound to be great but it's not.
Exanima was pretty much deligated to a tech demo as the devs work on the main game Sui Genesis.
>tfw kenshi runs like shit
Starbound. Just... Starbound.
Also Tortanic, if that counts.
>Tortanic, if that counts.
It doesn't, retard.
Why wouldn't it? That game, in it's earliest iterations, was shit. And, although improved a bit, continues to be terrible and lots of people fell for it.
Starbound, Dead Cells.
>Star traders frontiers
How dynamic is the world? Is it Mount and Blade tier with invasions and shit?
turnbased RPG meets space trading so if you're expecting realtime stuff yoy're out of luck
would need to play more to be able to answer you
I don't mind turnbased I just wanted to know if I was the only thing that could enact serious change on the world. That's my primary question for most games. Even kenshi doesn't quite do it unfortunately, as the other factions don't attack each other in any meaningful way.
star rangers has inter-faction fighting, unending galaxy has that too
the last federation is cenetered around trying to manage the factions' conflict
those are the space games w/ it i can think of.
>comes out in a month
Oh nice, I haven't touched Kenshi in well over a year.
Oh, cool. It doesn't need to be just space games by the way, and game with that sort of mechanic will probably get my attention, especially if it lets you control an individually customized character.
almost forgot: starsector has things like pirates attacking factions' bases and the usual infighting.
Distant worlds: universe, yeah its a 4x but if you want a dynamic universe? this is it. pausable realtime tho not turn-based.
here's a stab at a list
Faction relations being IMPORTANT(read: can be really good or get you dead fast): Starsector, Caves of Qud, paradox gsgs since you can get into wars
Filling your requirements: rimworld, starsector, m&b, unending galaxy, star rangers, drox operative, heavily modded skyrim, kenshi, Terraria(no faction relations but random, recurring invasions)
Looking forward to getting DayZ refunded in ten years.
Ok cool, I'll check this stuff out thanks.
np
the ones I like most of my lists? Starbound, Caves of Qud, Rimworld and Terraria.
my opinion of Kenshi si it seems like it's at least halfway decent but haven't played it enough yet to confirm beyond "Yeah, maybe give it a chance"
Centration
I have like 300 hours in Kenshi so I'd say its good. Like I said, my only real complaint with it is the lack of NPC activity compared to the player's ability to influence the world. Hopefully when custom scripting is added to the game's modding kit something like that could be made, since the devs don't seem to have that as a goal.
Starbound
Spintires
Towns
Sui Generis will never be finished. They are better off fleshing out Examina and making it a really solid gladiator sim.
Exanima is cool, but the devs should maybe be a little less secretive about the fact that they're actually working on the game.
>citing Towns
Why, user? why?
Faction politics is supposed to be a big part of the next big update.
Yes but from my understanding faction politics will involve player faction to NPC faction politics, not NPC to NPC politics. You will not see the UC declare war on the Holy Nation, for example.
But it wasn't early access, it was just shit at launch.
It is? Good.
The Stomping Land.
Reminder that early access is not a preorder.
Reminder to never buy promises.
Reminder that the pioneers of early access sold half finished games cheap and only raised the price when the games got better.
Reminder that Valve ruined the concept by not forcing the same pricing structure when they added Early Access to steam.
my friend wanted me to buy this game called nether and it was shit I shouldn't have listened to him
Killing Floor 2, used to play KF1 a lot back then but I dropped KF2 after about 5 hours of playing
Hyped for the next update. I have several race mods for Kenshi and have fun ideas for new factions that will inhabit the currently locked portion of the map.
But you'll be able to basically work for a faction though. Like kidnapping the leader of an enemy faction on another faction's behalf. Having them be autonomous would be cool though.
But user didn't you hear? 2018 is the "year of Dayz"
Oh yeah when it comes to the player's interaction with the various NPC factions it will likely have a great deal of depth. I just wish that depth also applied to the factions interactions with each other. Like I said though, maybe modders will take care of that.
I find that hard to believe. How are the additional biomes? If they've finally been added that is.
This is what is currently available. The rest unlocks the next update.
rust
which was actually one of the first EA titles and its still in fucking EA
The made a blog post recently. The next update is also gonna have limb loss and robotic replacements.
Did they finish Xen yet? The game costs twice as much as the original and it's not even complete.
Fucking this. God I was mad about this game. Bought it in Early Access and then the developer up and disappeared. Kenshi is the reason I avoid Early Access games if possible.
bought it like 5 years launch
still a bug ridden mess
walking through walls and all sorts of shit
i dont understand how the reviews are so positive
it straight up doesnt work
i dread to think what it was like at launch
>then the developer up and disappeared.
Kenshi's been updating every couple months, what are you on about?
RimWorld exists.
I haven't touched the game since 2013.
There were years without any word. I thought the dude died.
remember when the dev was promising multiplayer
hahahahaha
bump
I remember seeing some pictures of what they have of Xen. Why are they seemingly trying to reinvent the wheel? Just recreate the original.
friendly reminder to remove skelton
Not him but honestly stuff like npc on npc encounters that could alter the overarching world and effect the player sounds like the coolest shit on paper, but if the player misses these interactions or gets locked out of doing certain things it can be a drag.
Never really heard about Kenshi until now but if you look into the Stalker dev story one of the problems the had with the earlier iterations of the game were that the AI would do all these cool things among themselves that in some cases blocked the player from ever progressing through the story or that you just wouldn't see because you weren't around when it happened.
Still seems like a great premise and I can't say I know how well it would fit into this game.
So is Kenahi basically a singleplayer Star Wars Galaxy because tat sounds pretty cool
SO whats this game about, do you really get to explore an open world and build your own town/city.It sounds pretty cool but I have not heard much about it.

These are definitely problems. I was thinking more general reactions than that kind of thing. Things like one faction invading and occupying the town of another would be all I need to be satisfied, though economic impacts of such an event would be icing on the cake. I do not see those things affecting the player to an unplayable extent, as there is plenty of land to go around and avoid anyone who doesn't like you.
Its what it says on the header. Open world RPG where you go around doing whatever. In terms of aesthetic I guess you could call it a post-apocalyptic deiselpunk morrowind kinda thing.
Ok so i can build my own town and go around the world madmax/fallout 1 style gameplay. how indepth is the town building and is their guns.
No guns but there will be crossbows so modders will make guns. There's a definite samurai/wandering swordsman vibe. Think Afro Samurai.
Also town building is pretty in-depth I think. There are several resources and many tech trees you need to manage, and the next update will add a new level of diplomatic fun times like visits from the Inquisition or tax collectors depending on where you settle.
This sounds pretty cool,Is their like differnt factions you can choose from, such a mount and blade faction choices or is it all asian art stlyes. The whole building a city and sending my party around mechaninc sounds epic though.
In terms of major factions you have greedy samurai, muh honorable warrior kingdom, not!Islam, ninjas, sketchy bug people, and possibly more later on.
I actually just downloaded it the other day to play it again after taking a year or two of not playing it. It's still hard as hell, super clunky, horribly optimized, and looks like shit.
It was fucking fun though
Alright thanks,im pretty sure. I'm gona pick up this game soon
I definitely recommend giving it a shot. The modding tools are also pretty good if you're into that.
How in depth is the modding. Like mount and blade level with lots of different mods, that can drastically affect the game.Im not in making mods but ill play them.
You can make everything from customized game starts to entirely new factions with unique cities, uniforms, dialogue, and even weapons/armor if you're a good 3d modeler.
I really don't get Kenshi. How do I have fun?
...
THanks. This seems like the game for me, the whole city building and mad max feels great. I just wish their were guns but ill make do with crossbows and swords.
...
PUBG
Dead Cells
Slay The Spire
Oxygen Not Included
Flinthook
Rust
>that one summer on Sup Forums where everybody played cube world
cozy
all of them, every developer realised the power of showing bare bones epic gameplay and shmucks eating it all up
