Astrologists proclaim week of the Heroes of Might and Magic 3 thread

All Stables upgrade your Cavaliers increase population.

>Stables upgrade your Cavaliers
What are you talking about?

>he doesn't know

Stables upgrade your Cavaliers.

Is it easy to get started with HoMM or is it the sort of thing where you need to dedicate a couple days of uninterrupted video gaming before you get the hang of it?

pretty easy to pick up and play but you will need experience to truly git gud.

How do they upgrade them?

Should I go full jew and rush tier 7 buildings, or get all the level 1-6 with upgrades first?

>have cavaliers in army
>visit stables
>???
>have champions in army

what user has said but you have no realistic hope of ever defeating a russian at this game

Rush to T7, I usually don't upgrade units before week 3 or 4.

So it doesn't work with Castle stables?

...

you get however many creature dwellings you can before the week turns and only upgrade the creatures you need upgraded immediately before getting your dwellings

HoMM3 > HoMM2 > HoMM5 > HoMM7 > HoMM4 > HoMM >>> HoMM 6

I've never seen it happen.

Bring cavaliers to your next nearby stables on the adventure map and see what happens.

>tfw ruined a friendship with a clanmate over HoMM3 because the random gen gave him a favourable seed and I got butthurt about it.

someone insult me please, I want my penance

you a bad boy

He deserved it.

Air or water magic?

...

Air. Mass haste is the only spell you ever need.

Кaк дeлa пocoны?

vr pls

>pcturds always praise this game
>then turn around and complain JRPG combat is bad

The dissonance.

just started this game like a couple days ago

give me some tips.

But JRPG combat IS bad.

...

Ignore the meta and have fun. I played this game for 18 years now and all I can say is practice and explore everything yourself. Ignore any wikis or guides.

Water magic for sure.

This is shit advice for beginners. Let the user explore the mechanics himself. I bet you didn't have any guides as a beginner either.

Seeking advice for Necropolis. Is turning Zombies and Wights into skeletons a good idea?

If he got town portal and you didn't then he got what he deserved

I also thought gremlins are the most OP unit as a beginner.

You walk into the wreck and this guy slaps your peasant on the ass. What do you do?

Don not turn any other undead units into skeletons. Zombies are good at absorbing damage and reducing the enemy's attack and wraiths can drain spell points.

>don't choose luck
What? Isn't luck extremly broken in HoMM3?

>guy

did you just assume it's gender?

That's in H5.

>don't buy some of the dwelling upgrades.
Why not? What's wrong with Halberdiers?

>don't hire Geon
>never take scholar
This is really bad advice.

Oh yeah, you can stack it like 5 times or something.

I use holy word now that they have attacked the 3 single distraction peasants I brought and finish off the survivors with my swordsmen

Disciples is better

>Don't choose spellpower
>Choose attack
Spellpower is super important in mid/late game and by then you'll already have more then enough spellpoints.. this is a shit guide

Elf heroes have a skill that gives you permanent luck.

>implying homm5 was in any way good.

Sorry, too much boring grind makes me tired of it really fast.

You need to go to such lengths to get that skill that in the end it only makes about 30% difference compared to just keeping it at +5.

It's a pretty objective list if I do say so myself.

Homm 1-3 > Homm 4 > Homm 5 > Homm 6 > Homm 7

>7>
Nah, kys

I see no issues with 7 after applying all the patches. People still get triggered by it to this day though.

Infernos high probability to get Blind can mean its a very meta spell for them to have, if you didn't get it from your first town its probably good idea to restart.

You now have 10 seconds to post your favorite HoMM3 artifact!

Armor of the Damned or Cloak of the Undead King for necro heroes.

Not the best choice but it always puts a smile on my face whenever i get it.

heard you talking shit

>I see no issues with 7
What about shitty, railroaded building tech tree where you have choices that never really matter?
How about skill system being unbalanced shit with "Free choice" causing you to stick to a handful of heroes that you build the same way every time?
Hey maybe half-hearted flanking will get better after I get used to it after 100 hours of gameplay, but it probably won't.
Oh, how about shitty sound design? Don't you just love the sound minotaur makes over and over every time it does something.
Maybe poorly drawn town screens will distract me from the fact that 3D artists know nothing about how to color a strategy game so objects of importance stand out?
Maybe if I fall asleep due to overstatted, bloated battles I won't notice that AI decided to mash wait button again or made 5 empty heroes that do nothing again.
Maybe multiplayer not working half the time will prevent me from realizing that 5 and 6 both had deeper strategic choices when it came to character abilities instead 99% of them being meatbags that would be laughed out by 3's Fortress?
Maybe shitty libtard writing in campaigns will distract me from the fact that the map designer doesn't know what a Heroes game is even supposed to play like.
That is, if I'll even be able to stomach ages long loading times that make Gameboy Color remakes of Heroes 1 look like they run really well.

>dont take leadership
>diplomacy not on a must pick
Shit guide.

This one is so broken.

>curses you
>double damages you
Enough goddamit enough already!

GIVE
ME
THE SUCC

>tfw I always rushed town halls
I played this game wrong all my life. At least tell me dungeon is a decent town.

Well they can shoot.

Very easy to get into and play single player campaign/random maps, but multiplayer is min-maxed to hell and back and would take years to become pro at.

Castle>Rampart>Necro>Fortress>Stronghold>Tower>Dungeon>Conflux>>>Inferno in terms of ease for a beginner imo, but desu just play through the tutorial and first campaign and you'll be good to go to experiment and mess around.

Depends on the army.

Whoever made this guide should fuck off forever.

Are these the new Fallout NV threads?

Spoken like a true nostalgia faggot

In pvp air. In single phantom cheese with water magic is probably more useful.

It's not his fault not a single game after 3 was released finished and fully polished, let's be real here.

Dungeon is fairly strong. Also I think rushing town hall for dungeon is not a bad idea because you need a lot of gold for this town and underworld where you usually start is pretty scarce on it.

If you go by that not even 3 was polished.

I never played 7 but he might be just about right. I would have placed IV higher though.

>Ruining friendship over a fucking game

But it has JRPG combat.

That sword +5 to everything.

>grind
What?

Fuck are you talking about? 3 was polished as fuck. Even back in 1999 it ran really well and really fast, the UI and the editor are intuitive and easy to use, the graphics are designed by people who know how the fuck to work with color (even if you might not agree with overall visual direction), it barely had any significant bugs, it just fucking WORKED. Which is more than you can say about any future games that launch with half the shit not doing what it's supposed to do. Clearly you don't remember in what state 4, 5 and 6 all launched despite being developed by different companies years apart.

You heard him.

...

>it's a "tier 7 creature in refugee camp on week 1: episode

I mean, heroes combat isn't actually any good. It's extremely simple and the strategy is 99% of the time really obvious.

Try harder next time.

Expert Prayer is better. And anyone worth their salt has expert earth anyway so you can just slow your enemies.

>week of the Heroes of Might and Magic 3 thread
Why not any of the other games in the series?

>scholar
>bad

You know there's more to the game then just loading up everything on a single hero you know? It's the ultimate secondary character skill.

>upgrade hellhounds
>they now deal 1/3rd less damage

How?

>zombies
Never hire them unless someone is about to attack your town.
>wights
There's no point in even building their shelter. Just rush liches, knights and upgraded vamps in the first week.

taking the game seriously enough to hold a friends rage against him

It's just the best one. Like Worms Armageddon, they never quite got there again.

What are some of the things you hate the most in maps?

>start up what seems like a relatively nice map
>realise a few turns in that there's a fucking two way monolith right near your main fucking town

>Worms Armageddon
You my nigga.

Aren't World Party is just an Armageddon with more stuff?

is homm3 overrated because of the soundtrack?

mostly due to over complication and bloat
