So was this game actually bad or just meme bad?

So was this game actually bad or just meme bad?

Actually bad
You know that if it gets sales so bad it gets the series canceled AND Sup Forums shits on it that it's pretty fucking bad.

Its bad

Meme bad, sure its no where near as good as the trilogy but it was still fun

Are you so young that you don't know why the sales were so bad?

They released 3 months of patches to fix major bugs and completely overhauled the broken animations. Other wise the main quest was decent, but like all nuBioware games the side quests were week.

it is so insanely average you will have trouble not gettign bored

like you cant enjoy this game unless you are an idiot tbqh famalam

t. big mass effect trilogy fan who was excited for andromeda but was astounded at just how far bioware had fallen

It killed
A studio

Bad to average, if you're an enormous fan of the series you might be able to overlook it's problems but otherwise stay away.

Gunplay is pretty nice. Everything else suck.

The technical fuckups would be forgivable because the RPG genre is full of games with issues everything about the game is unbelievably bland.

Studio-killing bad

If only, fingers crossed Anthem finally pushes Bioware to the grave

I came into the game expecting it to be terrible.

I actually enjoyed the experience, but probably only because I was expecting to hate it and it turned out much better than that.

It isn't as good as any of the other MEs, but it's definitely better than all the negative press it got.

Can you convince me of the game having enough good points to be worth getting?

No, because if I try to hype it up in any way, you'll expect it to be decent, which would then ruin the experience as you start to nitpick everything to death.

The story isn't bad, but it isn't finished. The final boss is a middle management fucker in a vast empire of baddies, and the final fight reminds me of ME3's final fight.

Exploring the planets can be fun, and there are lots of little sidequests and neat things to find, but it can also be a chore if you're trying to 100% it.

ME2 style system exploration is back, but traveling between worlds takes 5-6 seconds and there are over a hundred worlds. If you speed hack the traveling portion, it makes it very bearable.

Many of the sidequests force you to go to multiple planets, even revisiting planets several times.Having to spend 1-2 minutes in traveling cutscenes just to turn in a fetch quest is awful. Speed hacks make it better.

90% of the weapons are useless, but finding the 10% that are awesome feels good and fun. Weapon mods are also kind of neat, but most of are useless.

Some of your party members are pretty cool, but most are trash tier.

You can't make a white main character unless you use the default male/female, and you can't customise the default character apperances/voices.

After killing 100-150 enemies, your game will suddenly start freezing for 3-5 seconds everytime something dies, forcing an exit/reload.

The only thing you can do to enjoy this game is to go in expecting it to be terrible.

It's a pirateable game, but not a buyable game.

Well I'm going to just ignore it then.

reddit

spacing

It's better for bullet points than having a giant, run-on paragraph.

it was bad.
It had good elements. Gunplay was solid, and two of the companions were actually pretty cool.
But it had so many bad elements. While combat could be fun, there were a lot of open spaces that made it "see target from distance, find scarce cover" while the enemy variety was scarce, and it just became stale really quickly. While the worlds were fucking huge, they were empty unless you think fetch quests are worthwhile, the other four companions were pretty bad (jaal was alright, but not great), the main antagonists were mind numbingly stupid and had a plot twist that was predictable as soon as it started hinting at it (and was poorly executed), the dialogue and animations were cringey, the fact that an AI made your character special rather than your own achievements took away feelings of badassery since it did most of the work, it ruined the Krogan, and worst of all none of your choices really matter or differ in a fucking Mass Effect game where that's kind of the point.

I'm still very salty that this game wasn't what it could have been

I'm playing the demo right now. It has some good ideas for gameplay, but the pace is pretty boring. it is not so bad but it's not even particularly funny.

Only worth it for Vetra, Krogan grandpa, and the combat

Cora's pretty cool, too. It's kinda hilarious that the only companions worth romancing are unavailable, but at the same time it makes perfect sense for their characters.

I'm a huge ME fanboy who plays through 1-3 with a new Shepard every single year.
Andromeda was a slog. It really disappointed on almost everything. The only thing it got going for it is the combat system, it has never felt this good in a Mass Effect game. But the rest of the game does not make up for it.
I'd only recommend this game for the rabiest of ME fanboys, personally I count myself in that category and I almost didn't want to finish it.
My main irks with the game aren't even the animations and stuff but the whole open world meme that really was not needed in this game. Had they kept the mission based system from ME2 it might have been a more enjoyable experience because as it stands, the open world brings NOTHING to the table and feels more like padding and filler that WILL drive you insane once you reach your 2nd planet.
Man, just writing about this and thinking back makes me angry (bought and played this game on release)

way too much exposition and scanning around
barely any actual gameplay/combat and even then it's a joke
don't even remember if the squad positioning command had any actual use

After patches I'd give it a 7/10, but I'm kind of forgiving because I like space shit.
It's pretty broken and characters are garbage

Do it for her.

>he paid for a broken buggy game

Combat was super fun, playing a Vanguard and charging into the enemy has never been this satisfying. Luckily you can reskill pretty easily because "doing the Vanguard" at low levels on insanity is absolutely impossible. So at the start I used a more ranged approach. The thing is that mass effect 2 and mass effect 3 are constant action, you drop in, you get to kill some bad guys. easy. but with andromeda you spend so much time driving around doing nothing that it really takes from the experience. when you're in combat it feels amazing, but the downtimes inbetween are just too long.

combat: 10/10
exploration 2/10 (there's nothing to see/explore but groups of enemies)
story: don't actually remember anything / 10

Overall it's a 5 out of 10 and I'm being harsh here because of personal disappointment in the direction my beloved ME took

>Other wise the main quest was decent
Not even close.

>completely overhauled the broken animations
nope, only a few of them.

it was really bad at launch

it's about Inquisition tier now. still some weird animations, though

If you preferred ME1 to the other two the you might enjoy Andromeda. It's very much a back to the roots situation.

It's rare to see someone admit they are an idiot.

Is there a torrent doing the rounds of the first version of this game? I want to play it in all it's buggy glory, as if it's actually a spoof game.

I fell for the
>game is shit meme
now that I finished the game I find it actually very good if you ignore the retarded animations

As a standalone game, it's pretty damn good warts and all. But as the start of the new Mass Effect series, it was just a bad followup, it's unrefined in so many ways, and was released literally unfinished.
I enjoyed my week with it. But that's about it. A week. And the multiplayer was absolute garbage compared to even Vanguard Glitch era ME3.

you can romance/fuck most characters with just 3 or 4 conversations, Fucking Cora took me 56h!
Story wise the best part was the sidequest to find out why they went to Andromeda
literally this

I remember the trailer showing that the Shadow Broker alien was in it. Was the trailer misleading or did that thing somehow get to Andromeda?

the exploration and combat are better, but literally anything would be better than ME1's exploration and combat

but the actual missions, story, everything else, are just complete trash comparatively, especially since in ME1 those are some of the best in the series.

look at the helmet on the box art and tell me it doesn't look like a dickhead.

Meme bad. You should go buy twenty copies right now user.

Generic combat, uninteresting exploration, terrible writing.

I agree that ME:A is as bad as it gets, but I would never trust Sup Forums when it comes to gaming quality. People here like to shit on games they never played and spreading lies, for example TLOU which get called "movie" because the 20 hours game has 3 hours cut scenes and approximately 4 forced qtes in the entire game.

I got bored by the third planet or something. Some jungle shit, I dunno. Only thing I was looking forward to was sexing Cora, but you can just watch youtube for that shit. I got a thing for the dykey, bossy, cunty type.

It's like the definition of a 5/10 game

Depends on whether you consider boring and terribly written "actually bad" or "meme bad"

I say actually bad. The combat is good, but endlessly repopping enemies will lead you to eventually just drive past enemies and ignore combat because there's no point. The writing is high school creative writing class tier, and will actually make you stupider.

I paid $70 for a pre-order and honestly, if I could go back, I wouldn't pay more than $5 for this game.

>pre ordering things
>at all
are you actually, clinically retarded?

Yes. It was the first game I've preordered in decades of vidya, but I knew I was gonna buy it day one anyway, so I just bought it like a week before.

Even still, if I had waited, I would have still bought it because I wouldn't have believed how shit it was. The end of ME3 from Kai Leng onward was shit, but Andromeda was somehow worse of an experience.

oh boy, an actual, genuine retard
please answer me this, i need to know:
what do you gain from preordering and/or buying shit on day one?

So:
>worst ME
>I already thought 3 was a 3/10 at best

Yeah that's really shitty

doesnt matter. sjw shit= auto bad.

I liked ME, I never was a fan, but i liked it.

I pirated Andromeda on launch so I got to play it in full glory.

Finishing it was hard. Because it was boring and writing is borderline cretin at moments (Salarian ark, FUCK, I WROTE BETTER THINGS AT 12), yes, but mostly because of it state.

What I experienced:

five Krogan clones walking around my ship (teammates clone if you talk to them in unfortunate moment, like them being not in the place developer foreseen this dialogue to happen)

rescue pod not having any textures (there were just sky textures behind invisible objects and that asari rabid bitch standing there)

game freezing every few second for like 1-2 second. Restarting fixed it, but loadings were cosmic, so I played with freezing on. It soon would start to freeze again if I restarted anyway.

Somewhere during the second half of the game it gets unstable if you are in central hub (something like citadel-station, yes, you have to go there for lots of quests). I mean, you get repeatable CTDs if you save in unfortunate moment. I was lucky and with some save scumming I managed to sneak out, but, lel, just imagine it, I seriously save scummed a corridor trying to find a way trough it that didnt end with a CTD. Game in a game!

Not remembering much else now, maybe I write some more if something gets into my head.

There was one moment in story I remember, though, because it was only one funny "bad" decision you can make. You asari idiot personal story revolves about her old love using her and treating her like shit for her own sadistic amusement (seriously black-white writing). You get into a situation when they both stand on falling platform and, well, asari idiot has a choice: rush to help "friend", or save the objective. She of course rushes for the "friend"... And you then can promptly shoot that friend in the back to force her to do the right thing. This was one, only one well though thing in that quest and whole of the game.

It was plenty decent and an enjoyable experience.

Literally fucking hundreds of side quests to do in the game.

You just have to go in with an open mind and no expectations.

I don't know, I watched TLoU on youtube and it felt like i was watching a movie and not playing a game

Really really fucking bad, i've never played a worse game.

story characters and visuals ranging from bad to meh, gameplay and combat actually pretty fun

Do you people really enjoy massive wall of texts or are you just doing this to fit in?

Still better than FFXV

Less shitty and more utterly mediocre as well as forgettable. You could be playing literally anything else instead.

It’s biggest crime was being fucking boring.
The bits of so bad it’s good are few and far between

>11 lines
>massive wall of text

actually bad, but the severity of badness was a meme.

Dragon Effect: Androquisition
but worse

>After killing 100-150 enemies, your game will suddenly start freezing for 3-5 seconds everytime something dies, forcing an exit/reload.
What the shit?

I'M

my face is tired.
