A good bit into Witcher 3 and been enjoying it. Combat is not great but way better than 1 and 2. Lets have some fun talking about an enjoyable game.
A good bit into Witcher 3 and been enjoying it. Combat is not great but way better than 1 and 2...
i just finished my second playthrough of the game on death march with upscaled enemies, took me 2 weeks, weirdly it felt more like a chore to go through the game again than it felt fun.
>with upscaled enemies
That sounds awful than fun. Since combat isn't really that enjoyable. Does the game have NG+ since it might be fine if you still have all the alchemy potions you learned in your first playthrough.
It is a heavily consolitized game. Collectathon chests, quest marker bullshit, itemization - these are all pure shit and are influenced by today's "RPG" trends.
The writing is surprisingly good, both script and structure (English translation). The design of some quests is also excellent.
That's coming from someone who lauds Betrayal at Krondor and appreciates PS:T, VtM:B, KotOR 2, and FO:NV.
The costumes and atmosphere are also remarkable. Sadly, the combat/itemization/loot are trash.

Christ, even if I tried I couldn't sound as much like a pretentious cunt as you do.
Go full Death March.
Install Combat Rebalance Mod.
Install mod that removes question marks from the map.
Remove unnecessary UI from the game like minimap and scale it down.
Game becomes 10 times better.
Look into W3EE mod
how will you know what to do and where to go then?
Game still shows you spots on the world map. You will just have to navigate using it.
This setting is supposed to make you actually look at the world, because it's very well designed not constantly at the minimap.
We got a hardcore gamer here
Only cucks keep playing this old rehashed uninspired tiresome 2015 piece of soy.
Well, he remember the whole map, no need to look Minimap, and some navigation skill ofc.. i used some kind of this in skyrim too. cuz already remember all place.
>Install mod that removes question marks from the map.
There's litteraly a box to uncheck in the game menu for that faggot, you don't need a mod. People complain about stuff you can disable on the menu, now, how great.
Bear and Manticore are the master race.
Catshitters need not apply.
Not sure how anyone could have fun talking about the dullest franchise in the history of video game franchises. Seriously each episode following the soy mutant and his pals from Novigrad as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when CD Projekt vetoed the idea of including compelling or innovative gameplay mechanics in the series; they made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for the books. The Witcher series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Dark Souls series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Sapkowski's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that he has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of The Witcher by the same George R. R. Martin. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading The Witcher at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read A Song of Ice and Fire." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "The Witcher" you are, in fact, trained to read A Song of Ice and Fire.
is ng+ fun? I have a lot of side quests to do on my main file (beat the game) and was wondering if I should do those first, or just go for ng+ and do them after.
>gravity is several times the danger of monsters

My favorite copypasta
>ng+ fun
It's fucking garbage.
One of the worst and most lazy NG+ i've seen in any game.
All they did for it was probably write some code that adds 30 lvls to each enemy in the game. That's fucking it. You get some items like potions etc. but it's still fucking lame.
Rats are lvl 30 in the game and can actually fuck you up now.
Literally zero new content/quests/items/bosses/enemies.
Nothing.
You are basically replaying the game again, but the levels are higher.
Don't bother with it.
so just do sidequests on the main file in ng?
Do them first. Quests do not carry over and it's not worth to play through it again.
how do istart the 2 dlcs when im at like level 17 in the main game
Of course, that's post-game for.
As that other user said, there's no actually new content on NG+ in TW3. It was added in one of the patches, because some people asked for the feature I guess. But it offers virtually nothing.
I'm kinda overlevelled for a lot of stuff though, I did the main quest with the occasional sidequest here and there, not lots of witcher contracts. and tons of ?'s to see still.
So what?
id just crush everything if it's low level and not say, skellige. still worth doing? the dialogue in the game I like, but still.
The only thing you'd be missing on is extra experience, because grey quests give jack shit exp. But you're saying you're already overleveled, so there's no reason not to do them now.
Is TW3 overrated? This game had the most GOTY awards but you still can't feel its influence in the gaming industry. Usually great games exert influence that you see parts of it in other games.
I like the writing a lot, and the world is nice: the characters make it great imo, they feel believable and not "forced", dialogue feels authentic.
That "influence" usually boils down to business practices or design choices that let the publishers reap more profits easily by just copying them. TW3 isn't built on that kind of values.
It's a component open world triple A RPG. Whether or not that makes it overrated IDK.
The fact that the Witcher 3 is referred to as an "RPG" is just laughable to me. It's like crude facsimile of what an RPG is put into a massive and badly designed open-world.
The story itself is actually pretty decent, I enjoy the lore and the characters quite a bit. The intrigue is there but there is no roleplaying of any kind within it, the Western trapping of a modern RPG protag being, "Kind of a dick and wants money vs. Morally righteous human rights activist".
These "roleplaying choices" have absolutely no consequences besides a marginal difference in Crowns and maybe a couple of cutscenes. It's a charade of meaningless choices put into a feedback cycle of: Go here, activate eagle vision, walk around yellow circle and follow red trail. Then interspersed with "c'mon Roach" and doing meaningless busywork that gives you fuck all experience anyway.
The Witcher 3 is impressive in how it tricks you into thinking it's massive in scope when it barely justifies its open world and presents no meaningful choices both in character builds or in its story.
i wish it was turn based
did this shit for fonv and made it so much better
go play the gwent spinoff
fuck cg
where did the rumor that Witchers have no emotions even start? It can't be true when Geralt is constantly being unprofessional and impulsive in many of his decisions
>unironically playing a game for chads
>posting about it on Sup Forums
I wonder what he meant by this
they just claim to be neutral and have no emotions so they don't have to get involved in things or take responsibility when the heat rises.
>Videogames
>for chad at all
you're wrong, anything that has to do with "gaming" is for virgins
Art of the Deal is in god-tier, how could you fall for such obvious bait
In the books, you mongoloid
