TLOU got 249 out of 523 total GOTYs, which comes to almost 48%.
I mean 249 is still a fucking lot, but it's not always raw numbers that matter (though I'm not sure how much of % actually matters, too).

Played all Zeldas, played AssCreed 1 and Rogue, and played Oblivion and Skyrim. The audience they were going for is pretty obvious

is it though? from the outside looking in. it looks like a 3D realization of the original game. Sparse story if any and a focus on gameplay and an open world. I'm not saying they weren't trying to westernize a bit but every zelda is pretty different. what makes this one the asscreed clone ? just because it takes some points from other games? like past zeldas haven't done that before

My biggest issue with the game is that it feels too repetitive. The majority of the content in the game are the shrines and korok seeds. Yeah sure there are shrines and seeds everywhere with different ways of finding them, but at the end of the day you're still doing the same thing over and over.

The shrines are also very hit or miss. Some of the shrines, I can recall one in particular that I did not too long ago, were fantastic with engaging puzzles and good challenge. Others are a snorefest and can be completed with your eyes closed.

The music is also really lacking in my opinion, most of the tracks are too subdued in my opinion and don't stand out/aren't memorable. The overworld theme is an egregious offender, as it only plays when you're riding on a horse and even then it's a soft piano melody; it lacks the boisterous and grand feeling that you had with practically every other Zelda game.

I'm sure people have complained about it enough, but enemy variety is also pretty underwhelming as well, though I was happy to see Lynels and Hinoxes come back and I like how they were integrated. The issue I have are with the Bokoblin, Moblin, and Lizalfos. Those three are what make up the majority of the enemy camps that are scattered everywhere and yes while they do have different variants, they're still just variants of the same enemy.

The biggest offender for me though is absolutely the dungeons, if you can call them that. It's obvious that the devs poured all of their work into the shrines because the divine beasts feel severely bare bones. There's only a handful of puzzles, the enemies are a joke, and the bosses are all Ganon with an element attached to him. They were completely forgettable compared to the previous dungeons which all had their own unique identity.

fair enough. I have seen the enemy lists. There should have been more creatures. I've also heard the dungeons weren't too great which makes sense but I would also have liked a long dungeon or two. I still think I'll enjoy the game when I finally get it. I doubt it's as bad as you say. I think the biggest issue you probably have with the game is that it's a sandbox game. it won't always explicitly tell you what to do. you kind of have to make you own fun at times.

I'm not a big sandbox game player so that could very well be it. I hated Skyrim and Dragon Age, and only liked Assassin's Creed 2. I mean the game is still pretty fun, I'm not going to call it an absolute piece of shit, but I felt really disappointed in it. It's worth a try at least.

Really? That's a shame. I doubt I'll done with Zelda as a whole, but it will no longer be a game series that I'm rushing out to buy. I'll have to wait and see what the game looks and plays like, maybe if a friend buys the game I can try it out.
