Why is Zelda series so revered when it's just babbys first RPG with the same boring, iterative story told for the nth time? Name one revolutionary thing about this franchise.

Saving.
Because manchildren.
This and copious quantities of nostalgia.
Maybe the games are just good.
Z targeting :)
It's similar to FF7 in that it was a solid introduction to action rpgs during our childhood that still *mostly* holds up today. Eveything about the earlier zelda games (plot, combat, quests, etc) are both incredibly simple and well polished so they haven't aged poorly. Modern incarnations that have tried to push boundaries (looking at you SS) are complete shitshows because that was never what the series was about.
Target lock on.
Several languages on the same copy
(Link to the Past being the first game to release in the Euro 5 languages)
>people will ignore these posts
Zelda games are all good, some more than others, If you dont like it's fine, but you're either a minority or an asspained console warrior.
nostalgia, & muh childhood
Very funny. Saving in RPGs existed before the NES did.
>RPG
Why are retards allowed to make threads when they clearly have no idea what they're talking about?
Zelda isn't an RPG.

it's based off a real painting
I literally have only started playing a Link to the Past this year. I have never played it before and i love it. I don’t know about all this “reveloutionary” or “innovative” shit, to be honest i don’t often know what makes good game design, all i know is i am greatly entertained, even in this age of 4K 60fps modern gaming, this is a good time.
Figured as much. Anw, found it.
>calling Zelda an rpg

not since the NES my dude.
shit idk man they're fun adventure games
/thread
everybody go home

Why does it have to do anything revolutionary to be good? It's fun, has great music, generally lovable characters, cool settings/stories/plots, and is accessible to any audience. Its a simple action rpg series that anyone can dive into, and its well executed, thus has a huge fanbase. Saying its babby's first rpg literally isn't a negative.
>RPG
>lets take the skill out of combat cause our 10 year old audience gets angry and confused ;^)
Thanks, Nintendo!
Is not a RPG
Not in a console, it blew my mind back then that a console could save my progress.
>zelda
>rpg
lol come on OP
Assblasted that anons gave legitimate answers? Lock on is used in baby games like assassin creed, i agree.
Bloodborne has lock-on.
And it's casual shit for it. Are you one of these "souls games are haaard XD" retards?
It's not saved on the console, dummy, it's saved on the cartridge. And why would that not be possible? A console is a castrated computer after all
I'm in no way a big fan of TLoZ, but in addition to what others said, it's an RPG-ish action adventure that prominently features puzzles of relative complexity while still retaining a big focus on exploration and accesible gameplay.
I wish there were more RPGs, action or traditional ones, with such focus on puzzles. Alundra and Wild Arms had some of the most addictive and satisfying puzzle-solving ever.

zelda games have a tendency to age terribly so young people like you will not understand, but they have always been the best of the best games available at the time at least up until majoras mask. it wasn't until wind waker, tp and skyward sword that it got truly repetitive and into 'nothing special' territory. they came back in stride with BotW though.
he's good in a technical sense, but other than that he just copies popular art and puts video game faces over it.
