I'm just getting around to starting the witcher, any advice for a newcomer to the series. Will be playing all the games on PC? i dont care about spoilers, im playing for the combat

spoiler makes me think this is bait
Witcher 1's combat is infamous and people only play it for everything else, although in a Stockholm sort of way I started to enjoy the combat

i was mainly saying that i dont care abou people coming spoiler things. Im just starting with one since i have all three games.

You dont play Witcher for the combat. You tolerate the combat for everything else

just go play the damn game.

Igni 360 no scope.

Witcher 1: Unredeemably shit combat
Witcher 2: Meh combat
Witcher 3: Would actually be okay the controls weren't so shit combat

inb4 OP drops it at Chapter 2

skip the first one. it aged like milk, the gameplay, the animations, the UI are atrocious. just see the super recap of the first game on YT and go to the second game.

Get Aard to level 2 for the first chapter, then focus solely on Igni > Strength > Dex > Silver Styles > Strong Styles.

Congrats you've broken the game.

Witcher 2 combat was garbage
I prefer TW1 because it then went by quickly enough before it got on my nerves

>implying OP is even going to play it at all and only started this thread for memes while he watches someone else play it
just another day on Sup Forums - video games

Chapter 4 will blow your mind and your load

imagine having such a garbage taste

this. especially in 1

lies, witcher 1 is good game

>the UI are atrocious.
i know right. it was awful having everything on one one screen instead of paging through 65 different inventory tabs.

Don't skip the first, the charming quaint atmosphere and music is what got me in to the series and the second doesn't have that at all.

Also you run considerably faster with your sword unsheathed in Group Style, and it seems to sometimes stack, causing you to move even faster.

Download some graphics mods. They are working quite well.
Otherwise the game is very good and i liked the combat.

wait are these games worth going through for the story?

Combat / gameplay focused fag here.
I ended hating the game so much I ended dropping it after 50 hours, not even touching the rest of the series. If you're like me, don't bother with that piece of shit game.
Sup Forums will tell you you have to bear with a horrible game because "da best videogame story evaaaa!" but that part isn't nothing special: it feels like typical Games of Thrones-esque stuff.

>play Witcher after class
>teacher walks past
>'is dat some Witcher user? Fucking noice'
He was a dick bit had solid taste in vidya

Are you even trying?

I'm enjoying it.
Just got to chapter 4.

Some tips:
There are two types of alcohols. 1 for brewing potions (will say potion base). 1 to use in drinking games (will not say potion base)
You have limited inventory so I recommend just having 2 full stacks of the same alcohol instead of 7 different alcohols clogging up your inventory

You can miss out on some sidequests if you advance the chapter so I recommend doing them first.

Some enemies will parry the strong style combat so when allocating skills you should go fast style combat first.

Getting money by save-scumming and gambling is time consuming. But books are important for getting harvesting plants

>Witcher 1's combat is infamous and people only play it for everything else
Sooooo... like the other two witcher games?

I think what he means is; it's so fucking bad and the game is 80 hours long, you'll probably want to kill yourself by the halfway point.

I actually think that once you get used to it, the combat gets tolerable and sometimes almost not painful.
I cannot tell the same about W2 combat, that was endless retarded repetition with some creatures taking forever to fuckin die

...

>advice
Just play the game. It tells you everything you need to know
>combat
The combat in every Witcher game is horrible. Play it for the story or gtfo.

>80 hours long
you suck, don't ever give advice to anyone

the controls are fine

Here is the skinny;

Witcher 1; Terribly forgettable with a shit combat system, ugly graphics, and a long, drawn out, sidetracking story that becomes more boring the longer you play it. Just read a synopsis.

Witcher 2; A lot prettier, but still suffers from some extremely glaring issues, especially when it comes to the updated combat system, but it is so hard on the rails that you're pretty much just lead from scene to scene, and then surprised by somewhat entertaining boss fights without warning that you're supposed to prepare for and will likely die several times until you finish it. Just read a synopsis.

Witcher 3; They finally figured out what made a good game. It literally took 3 tries before they got it right. The only issue here is pacing. The first half of the game is excellent, grade A tier, but it starts to fall off after that. I got bored and quit at the exact same spot two times. Still haven't finished it. That being said, it's still a good game, with great atmosphere, great characters, and nice titties.

play hearts of stone

>hates W1
>glorifies W3
>reddit spacing
realy makes me think

I hardly glorified Witcher 3. It's a good game and definitely the best of the series, but I never finished it, so it isn't that good, it's just the best of the three. You're a dumb, nostalgic faggot if you think Witcher 2 is better.

>reddit spacing
kill yourself

I actualy just finished W1, from what I've seen from other two it has the best setting and combat isn't that bad as everyone is parroting

>I think what he means is; it's so fucking bad and the game is 80 hours long, you'll probably want to kill yourself by the halfway point.
Again, this can be said about the other two as well. TW3 combat looks nicer and smoother but its still tiresome.

>im playing for the combat
>Witcher 1
then you are going to have a really bad experience

Protip; you can skip most of the 'kill X amount of Y' sidequests. They're literally for roleplaying as a Witcher. You go do some tedious work, hand over your invoice, and get paid a paltry sum, no surprises. They have no story whatsoever. Don't make the mistake I did of finishing all the ones I could find expecting one to finally be worth my time.

Look forward to the swamp.

>he didn't enjoy going trophy hunting mini boss monsters
>he didn't save up all the money to buy the meteores to upgrade his sword to one hit enemies

I really enjoyed TW1, it has a good story and the combat is fine once you figure it out. I think people shit on it because it is rhythm based as opposed to a button masher which throws people off. The swamps are tedious, but chapter 4 is one of the best bits of any Witcher game. Just play it and enjoy it.

>people shit on TW1 combat
meanwhile I haven't finshed 3 because its such a massive fucking chore just to move Geralt around

>You dont play Witcher for the combat. You tolerate the combat for everything else
But everything else is shit too.
