I never see anyone talk about this game. I know the story isnt great or at least it's not original but the battle system is kick ass.

Well, it was fun.
Right it felt like virtual fighter if it were an rpg
You could always talk about it on /vr/, we can even discuss classics like Azure
Dreams, Jade Cocoon series, XI Sai, Poiter’s Point etc
Shit I should be done that
TORNADU FRAME!
PIIIIAAAASSSS
I didn't notice but depending on what you equip effects how many times you can attack.
OP is on drugs. The battle system sucks ass because of the sheer amount of fucking inputs needed to do attacks. And its not just a gimmick for one character, oh no. You have to go through strings of shit for all three. Battle speed is embarassingly slow. "Catching" Re-Seru is so embarrasingly RNG heavy it puts DQ Monsters to shame. Enemies as a rule have a fuckload of HP and high damage so unless you're beyond grossly overleveled (enduring casino hell to win enough points to buy certain gear helps) even the most ordinary of random battle is going to drag. Oh and battles are going to drag anyway because the animation speed fucking crawls along. Even moreso once you get Hyper moves and Super moves. And drawn out Seru magic (which you have to fucking use a million times to make it worth using at all).
I thought the story was cool
>sheer amount of fucking inputs
Babby
>casino hell
Easiest reels to time in any game ever. 10s for days
>animation speed fucking crawls along
If you don't enjoy watching the combos play out, why the fuck did you spend more than a few minutes playing it. WHY.
>I never see anyone talk about this game.
Because it is a niche JRPG that never had a sequel and came out well before nu-Sup Forums ever could have played it since it is really old now.
My first jrpg
>that never had a sequel
I have some bad news for you user.
Very bad.
It's one of the few PS1 games I still have left in my collection, but I never actually played it much.
Well I never knew they did make a sequel kek. I haven't played the first game since the 90s when it released.
bad news indeed since the sequel sucked dicks
>Well I never knew they did make a sequel kek.
Oh, that's not the bad part. The bad part is that it's garbage. But now you're curious. "It can't be as bad as they say, its fucking Legaia!" and off you go to download an iso of the game to give it a try. Then the sadness and regret sets in.
Legaia 2 is based, they replaced the airhead brat for a legit useful waifu and kept Vahn and Gala’s roles for Lang and Kazan. The soundtrack is pure kino.
Also Avalon is miles better than Cort a.k.a Not-Sephiroth.
>sheer amount of fucking inputs
Aside from the supers you can always see the input-combinations at any time during combat.
Honestly I don't remember much of the game. Just the appearance of characters you use and tornado flame and fireblow.
Even forgot the names until this user mentioned it.
>i dont like the game so everything is a flaw
no need to write 50 sentences man,we get it
Fuck you, Noa is a cutie.
Sequel is better, especially when it comes down to the combat system.
hey I’m not denying it
however, it just feels wrong to lewd her up, she behaves literally like a child. how old is she?
I was young when this was out, a few months into being four. I watched my Dad play it because I didn't know how to read super well until halfway through Kindergarten and didn't know what was going on, but I remember it kind of well. I remember more of Legend of Dragoon than anything else.
YO PO
>Tornado Flame
IKUZE
ORYAAAA
Loved this one. Gaza, the Delilas Family and the final Songi battle were some of the most memorable boss fights of that generation for me.
Ayy remember that one to now.
What about the girl? Didn't she have some sort of fist move she would yell out?
oh the things I would do to see a remake just for the glorious sight of MEEGATON PRESH in HD
>That point in the story where you're trapped and about to die
>The solution is an innocuous thing in your inventory that you've probably had several of for the whole game
>Parents die as toddler
>raised by a spiritual wolf armband for 20 years
>Civilized human being after finally coming out of a cave
This isn't really how it happens user.
Fuck you
I liked the story enough. Not all RPGs need overly deep lore just some fun combat and a comfy atmosphere.
>how old is she?
The game goes all in on having its own planet's calendar year, with longer years than Earth.
Noa is only 12 years old in Legaia. Vahn is 14 and Gala 18.
While the combat system is miles ahead of any "martial arts" jrpg on ps1 (Xenogears, LoD), each character still has one ultimate combo that just shits more damage than anything else they can do.
Am I the only one that thinks that levels like Seru Conkram and Juggernaut's insides (end game) were so grossly amazing? They gave me nightmares as a kid but for some reason I loved them anyway.
Didn't help that the music was so eerie and horrifying.

Other examples might be Gaia in Grandia 1 or Valmar's Moon/Body in Grandia 2.
I kinda miss these kind of organic dungeons in modern RPGs
Maya was cute.
That's what happens with all combo systems. Players will quickly find the optimal string and use it exclusively.
You needed to build meter to get it tho, and good luck in Gala's case.
Game is shit, they completely botched the battle system, it's so slow and repetitive. You also move like molasses on the world map. Great idea, awful execution.
