A game requires more decision making and critical thinking than a vn. A game also has a failure state that occurs from playing badly. VNs are more like choose your own adventure books.

My only problem with the game comes from the fact that it assumes the player is braindead and never actually played a visual novel in his entire life.

Being a veteran of this kind of games if I see 4 cute girls in the cover and in the menu with a monika intro in the fucking site I would immediately assume all of them all romanceable, when monika was being intentionally left out I immediately figured out the gimmick and became uninterested, it's a really poor gimmick to be honest, no everyone is going to go for yuri or the other lame assholes out of the get go, it doesn't help that the game is made by that obnoxious faggot that shilled project M for years, meele fags are autistic deranged kids.

I figured out the gimmick early on too because I'd seen that episode of Gravity Falls but the game still blew my socks off, solid 10/10 experience.

It wasn’t scary, but I liked it because I knew Monika was behind everything going in, and I tried to outsmart her to save best girl Yuri. Of course you get railroaded into pain, but not knowing that kept things interesting. That moment when Sayori went crazy at the end and Monika had to brick the game to stop her got me good.
