What the fuck is this game's problem?
What the fuck is this game's problem?
No problem at all
holy shit, a Baroque thread
Are you the two other people in the world who loved Baroque too? Nice to meet you.
I have it on Saturn but I can't read the text. Seems interesting enough though.
>Baroque Syndrome translation never
Too bad Sting didn't try to invest more in this franchise, i fucking loved the aesthetic.
Just keep descending
judging by that terrible fucking cliche anime box art, the video game is probably complete shit.
Holy shit there was a wii port? How is it? Did it add anything new?
be quiet beta boy
holy shit
A Baroque thread
I don't even know what to do.
You could aim with the wiimote. That's about it.
it's a remake, GODDAMN IT!!!
I remember when I was 16 or something, my friends were watching some streamer playing this game. I took a look at the stream and the guy's awful gameplay made the game look like shit. I was on edge about getting the game because the cover was eye catching to me, but that guy's gameplay convinced me otherwise. I regret it to this day. The streamer came out as a tranny 2 years ago apparently. I thought trannies were supposed to be good at games.
If it aint Baroque, don't fix it
It's a fucking Evangelion of video games
RIP Sting
my nigga
I liked the original soundtrack better. Both good though.
I've never heard of this
What's it about
They made an iOS port.
Someone please rescue Sting, they need to finish Dept Heaven.
Roguelike with a 2deep4you plot.
Looks cool, might check it out. Which version is best? Does the Wii version need motion anything or can I emulate it easily?
Both of them god-tier. The wails in the background are awesome. I like the Wii more myself.
Works fine with a controller.
Both are pretty much the same, only diference is that you can use the motion controls on the wii to aim if you use the gun never use it
The fuck was his problem?
>Baroque thread
HOLY FUCK.
bought it but never played, kinda like my entire ./hack collection for ps2
>Riviera
>Gungnir
>Yggdra
>Knights in the Nightmare
We're still missing like, what? 5 games in the series?
Enjoy it while it lasts.
Not necessarily. The "episode number" is just a gauge of how far out there it is. KitN is 9, by the way.
I think they planned for 9 games yeah. Last time they worked on a game was some dungeon travelers thing I think.
Two years ago.
I'm not even sure what exactly to post to be honest.
Gungnir is number IX though. And I thought the Dept Heaven World Guide clearly stated that there's 9 games planned/released?
>Gungnir is number IX though
Oh, well. KitN is way more unique than Gungnir though. Isn't the World Guide JP only?
I could never figure it out. The game explains absolutely nothing to you. I was like 14 at the time though and had no idea what the fuck a roguelike was then.
>Can you tell I am irked? You probably don't become irked with your hazy memories, but I'm constantly in pain from being impaled and I have to see your face over and over again. Your face, which I don't want to see! Hurry and go to the bottom floor. Now!
stupid kid wouldn't use the fucking gun
I remember bumping on a thread here on Sup Forums fucking years ago where some user posted some translated scans. Absolutely agree. KitN is a master piece, both in terms of design and in terms of story.
I own a copy, I have yet to play it. Apparently it's like Let it Die, which should make me want to play it more.
Usually when people talk about KitN, it's not positive. It's definitely one of my favorite games ever.
The soundtracks are different, but I appreciate both, greatly. The graphics moved to full 3D but still retain the same atmosphere and even improve on it with certain enemies. Gameplay is different because of the move to 3D, and it could have been better in my opinion, but it's still relatively the same. Which is again, something that could have been done better since the enemies were full 3D, so a complete overhaul of gameplay would have been more interesting, you can tell they were trying to retain the feel of the old gameplay with new assets. Otherwise, it's mostly the same as he said, it's been a long time since I've played it. I feel like replaying it now.
This is hell.
Had a lot of fun with this game for a while. Some of the later enemies are just annoying though, i could never find a way to beat them without losing a lot of hp.
I could reach up to the mid floors killing everything and not getting hit at all.
w-what happen if i use the gun?
You and I are like long lost brothers then my man. I consider Knights to be not simply a masterpiece but some sort of light and hope in the videogame industry ever since I played it, nearly a decade ago.
Oh shit a Baroque thread. How many of you fags actually beat this game and didn't just get to the end of the -1600 tower a few times
DON'T GO CRAZY
DON'T GO CRAZY
DON'T GO CRAZY
DON'T GO CRAZY
DON'T GO CRAZY
DON'T GO CRAZY
DON'T GO CRAZY
It's honestly not a very good game by any means but it has an interesting atmosphere and a story that you have to piece together through hundreds of sporadic NPC dialogues which is kind of fun
that looks awesome
Get a load of this faggot.
I never understood this game at all I just ran around dodging enemies then I think I got to the end of the tower or whatever but nothing hapepned
Yeah, mechanically it's kinda barren but it's really interesting and weird. Not in a
>look how quirky!
kinda way, just legitimately weird.
Reminder to the few random Baroque fans in the world, Sting puts a new Baroque wallpaper on their website every May 14 (the day of The Blaze in the story) and removes it soon after. They've been doing it every year since the game came out. The art is pretty neat
DS or PSP for this?
Also how do you even play on a PSP
Miha ti zdes?
Yeah the combat is extremely basic. Dungeons are just random hallways. You can beat the game in a couple hours if you look up how to do the obscure things to progress the plot. The only way to get a lot out of the game is if you have some sense of OCD for collecting items/baroques/voices for the library. Once every few months or years I get in the mood to try to fill out my library more but it's way too monotonous to try to 100% it all in one go
That's for Knights in the Nightmare. The game in the OP is Baroque which was released on Saturn/PS1 (JP only) and remade for PS2 and Wii (with an english release).
Is the Wii version any different from the PS2 version?
No official mobile version except the iPhone port. You could emulate the original Saturn or PS1 version I guess
Nothing really, but there's a plot point that involves carrying the gun through the dungeon without firing it. You basically can't beat the game if you keep using it
Wait, is this true? This is fucking great if so. You know if there's a archive with the pics?
IIRC the American site for Baroque made by Atlus still up since 2008 as well.
>That's for Knights in the Nightmare.
I know user. That's what I'm asking about
>Those fucking challenge dungeons with the super enemies
Jesus Fucking Christ
I can't share now but you can find a Dropbox link if you Google around or search the gamefaqs boards for the game.
What is this game?
Bust it out and give it a try. I haven't played Let it Die but the concept of levels does have a slightly different mechanic/idea, you'll probably find out what I mean.
That song is great. But I love the edginess of the remake's opening too much. youtube.com
I'm pretty sure I did but I never beat coffin bro's dungeons though, it's true hell.
I did not know this. Thank you, I'll keep my eyes peeled now.
The gameplay (not the mechanics, or dungeon structure, etc.) could have used a big revamp. The remake really tried to keep that feel but I
think this is one of the things that should have been changed greatly instead. The movesets could have been really interesting like the dual swords.
I have a sealed copy.
But I prefer the SS/PS version for its spook factor. Too bad nobody's going to ever finish a patch for it.
Neither of the posts you quoted were talking about it though. Anyway, I prefer the DS version. It really is built with the touch screen in mind. I find it a lot easier to move around to dodge bullets and select weapons. PSP version I think has a wider FoV, but no additional content like Riviera does, for example.
I love that they still do this.
Found the dropbox if anyone wants it.
dropbox.com
Thanks.
I remember how much of a clusterfuck was to get the true ending with the idea sephira showing and all the "people" killing themselves
The bonus dungeons were hell, couldn't finish a single one
Thank you! Fucking sweet.
Yep that's the one. 2014's has always been my favorite. I actually use it as a wallpaper
I literally bought the game because of threads full of praise on Sup Forums. I then promptly threw it in my backlog where it resides to this day. Mostly my fault, I am lazy and didn't want to look up how the fuck to play it and my copy didn't come with a manual.
No problem. I'd dump them all, but posted the Dropbox link.
The game has an extensive ingame tutorial.
>no additional content like Riviera does, for example.
But it has. A complete story with Yggdra from Yggdra Union that's about half of the length of the normal story iirc. Also better quality music and some touched up backgrounds as well as a database for "collecting" the sayings of the characters/monsters/enemies/etc.
I love you. And I love this thread. Just a bunch of Baroque/Sting fans discussing the games without any drama.
Horned Girl best waifu
Is there more media about baroque outside the games? It's been a long time since I played it on PS2.
She is a perv
Baroque, Baroque Syndrome, the cheap Littles shooting game, and the Baroque manga adaptation are the entire franchise as far as I know
And I don't wanna go through it in-game what's hard to understand. I can blast through a manual in a fraction of the amount of time that tut was gonna take.
Forgot the typing game.
Why can't our girl keep making games like this one bros?
>Still not on PSN
He saw his sister get deformed into a grotesque thing right in the middle of breakfast and now has an unrelenting grudge against God and the protagonist.
