Is this game good

is this game good

Any game with a similar box art? I remember a game from whenIwas a kid, on ps2 I think, with a cute girl or trap wearing getas I think

not the braindead OP but since the thread is already here, is it worth start a new game+? or is it a more a completionist thing?

NieR:Automata

no. all the major combat prompts are linked to sound that is way off timing from the big "!" that appears during combat. it's annoying to have to close my eyes any time an attack is going on in order to use the combat as intended

Yes, great music, setting, characters and nice ass, but idiots wil tell you it's bad because they didn't understand the weapon upgrades

Good game, bad gameplay.

Aesthetically it's GOAT.
I think of it as like the perfect D&D campaign experience.

However, gameplay has not aged well. The combat sucks. The magic system is overcomplicated.
Anybody who says they understood the weapon forge thing is either lying or they read a wiki or gamefaq.
Basically All I understood was Steel > Iron > Bronze.

I'd say that a comparable modern game would be something like Dragon's Dogma.

Eh? Just cram it 1/3 of a second before the weapon contacts the body. The moment of making a contact defines it. IF I remember it correctly, that is.

I played a lot of games in my life but I can't think of one with a worse combat system than this piece of shit. Even Morrowind, Witcher and Ass Creed are masterpieces compared to it.

>but I can't think of one with a worse combat system than this piece of shit
Summoner 1 and Witcher 1? I mean, they are built around the same rhythm-based idea, but they use it in an incomparably more shallow a manner. Well, at least, until you suffer a YOLO revelation, then VS also becomes quite shallow.

pure kino for story, graphics and soundtrack
gameplay is a bit clunky but can be gradually casualized with grinding and weapon synth

It makes you enjoy the concept and gameplay at first. But it takes a while to get into and its filled with casual filters

>pure kino

I think you mean pure ludo

Better cutscene direction than most games today

>hurr gameplay is bad
Run along to your new games, children.

Play Breath of Fire 5 and see if you like that. If you do, you'd probably like Vagrant Story too. Vagrant's system is way more complex, but far less beginner friendly than BoF5.

The problem with it is all the learning curve is front loaded onto the weapon system, but once you get into combat is really just devolves into "pick body part with highest hit %, press attack when prompted." The risk system is an anti gameplay mechanic, by which you circumvent it by doing less, instead of more. Not to mention you have to sift though a mountain of sluggish UI panels to do anything. And whoever decided to not include some sort of gear set/quick switch for weapons needs a slap across their face.

Will you try to deny, that YOLO REVELATION is real?

...

after playing Dark Souls I can see how great it would have been to have a sword, staff and bow all ready to swap with a single button

I've been wondering if such a mod was possible. There are other mods of the game, but iirc they're just cosmetic, no actual event or menu changes.

Seeing this and realizing it all to be just a small fraction of utter bullshit this game tricks you into thinking to be VERY IMPORTANT, is truly priceless.

>telling ANYBODY to play dragon quarter.

This is one of the worst games I have ever played in my life.
>A procedurally generated rogue-lite JRPG on a timer, where you can run out of time and get game over and be unable to play it again.

I bought this POS off of ENB's recommendation several years ago, probably the worst game I have ever played.

Yes, it's well worth it. There are new areas opened up.

>Anybody who says they understood the weapon forge thing is either lying or they read a wiki or gamefaq.
Don't blame other people for your brainletness.

This.

When I was a retarded 13 year old kid just getting into JRPGs thanks to FF7 and Xenogears, I ignored it entirely and beat the entire game with nothing but the fandango.

It's great.

The combat is easy if you are good at chaining combos, though, since it makes weapon upgrades meaningless.

for its time it was pretty cool

that's GOAT

>story
Kidna complicated but cool.
>Music
Great, if you liked FFT music, its basically the same style.
>Gameplay
Everything is great, the movement is simple, shortcuts to magic and items, attack is simple and understandable, and chains are useful and a must. The spot you attack is unnecessary though since in the end you just choose one spot and hit non stop. You dont even see any debuff that actually helps you like minus int or minus 50 attack (unlike normal enemies but they are weak anyways)

>Craft system
Overcomplicated but at the same it's not hard. You need to understand it though, you wont finish the game with proper equipment.

Once you understand the workshop, the game becomes addictive as fuck though. At least i loved to create weapons for enemies
