Hacker's memory FAQ

If you owned or own Cybersleuth, you have received an update that enables you to upload your save file to the internet (start the game -> load game -> digivice -> save menu -> press triangle for crosssave), PSN+ isn't necessary. Hacker's Memory will be able to read that save, and it will update medal list and digimon field guide. It's possible you'll be able to transfer digimon and equipped items from cyber sleuth to hacker's memory once you've beaten hacker's memory, but that is still unconfirmed. If you played as ami you'll see her, otherwise takumi is the default.

If the save is from after beating cyber sleuth, you'll get some special items like a tactician USB, detective goggles to use as a digimon acessory, Yuugo's special program (all atribute damage -10%), Kyoko's rainbow coffee (raises main stats by 30% in battle but leaves the mon poisoned), nokia's special candy (raises CAM to 100%), Arata's valuable secret manga (100 000 yen), and Yuuko's grand feast (during battle removes all status effects and fully restores both HP and SP).

Beating hacker's memory nets you a cool looking high perfomance visor, a replica of Erika's memetan plushie (reduces damage from all penetrating moves), a "trail of the dragon" DVD from Ryuji (increases evasion and attack in battle), the motel man's guide on seduction from chitose (gives a lot of experience "points" to a digimon), and K's mask for you to sell it off.

You'll see many characters from cyber sleuth again, this game is set during the same period the previous game takes place except we're following another protagonist (this time there is no female option). We'll see events that we didn't get to see on the original CS, and the story takes a completely different direction.

I saw in the last thread that these games have online PvP. Is there a competitive scene like in Pokemon?

A lot of digimon have been rebalanced, be it nerfed or buffed (super ultimate digimon in particular get more equip slots). Examples:
-Alforce Veedramon and Aero Veedramon now only gets the first turn for itself
-Shine Greymon BM receives 50% more damage from int moves while glorious burst cuts down attack by half
-Lucemon SM's divine attonement gets a similar 200 base attack to the digimon above with a 50% debuff, but based on INT
-Mirage Gaogamon BM's special effect now also boosts evasion
-Omegamon and Omegamon Zwart's garuru canon is now int piercing
-Metal Seadramon's support skill prevents status downs rather than just decreasing the effect.
-WarGreymon's brave tornado has a neutral attribute, losing max type advantage potential as well as boost from wargreymon's ability

Armor digimon and frontier spirits still can only be obtained after collecting their respective items; otherwise all digimon are available right from the start except for story specific mons like the entire arkhadimon line and hudiemon.

You can now change the costume your character is wearing.

Status effect moves now have 70 % accuracy. Hard mode is a 1.5x increase to enemy stats rather than 2x.

New hacking skills allow you to increase running speed and return to start of the dungeon, without consuming an item.

Domination battles are fought 3 vs 3 without using items, being wiped means you skip a turn before rejoining the battle fully healed. Winning or losing depends if you gather the required points spread on the grid or the enemy does.

Within the maps there are spots that contain "hacker's memories", that contain cutscenes of events that the protagonist wasn't there to see.

New types of missions involving fighting for control against enemy hacker groups.

You now have acess to a digi-market where you can purchase or sell digimon as slaves, stronger digimon become available as you progress. Halfway in the story you will be forced to choose between preserving or dismantling this trade (and your choice matters).

You can form close relationships with members of hudie, other hackers and even digimon (renamon included), have them accompany you as assist characters while you explore dungeons. Get high enough friendship and you'll have a special cutscene with them as well as some items.

Story in pokemon yellow was the story in pokemon red, except you start with a pikachu. The story of HaMe is new. Gold also recycled nearly all kanto assets.

Ranked battle is now limited to 100 memory. You can now pick if you want to fight worldwide players, NPC's, or even strictly players from your region. Moves like revive and perfect revive received the same nerf as healing moves in pvp, and now only heal up to 20% HP. Additionally, there are now event and free battles.

Event battles have specific conditions (digimon levels, digimon types, max memory, etc.) to be fulfilled before being tackled, may or may not only be available during a short period of time, and give out unique rewards. Free battles are based on grouping up friends on private rooms with their own ID and setting up friendly battles between them with or without restrictions in level, memory, number of combos or number of digimon fighting (3x3, 2x2,etc.)

For online battles you can use as avatars any of the members of hudie, the previous protagonists or even side characters like victory ushida or jimiken. Participating in ranked and event battles nets you coins you can use to buy other avatars or costumes as well as cute acessories for your digimon to wear.

You can set up unlimited memory matches, not sure if you can specify a specific value though. You can also specify level 99 instead of level 50, and maximum number of combos.

II think I fucked up Sup Forums. I got the game for next to nothing thanks to a christmas gift, but so far I've really enjoyed playing it via remote play than on the big screen. Why the fuck wasn't the preorder a thing for the vita version?

The story ties into it, and at the end of hacker's memory you will be wishing the retcon never happened. It's all a big reference to Koji Wada's passing.

The game is available digitally for PS Vita (it's also possible to import a physical asia version with english subtitles) while the PS4 has both digital and physical versions worldwide.

The PS Vita version is bundled with pre order bonuses from the start, both from Bandai Namco EU and US, but the latter will stop offering the bundle late February.

The EU PS4 version does not come with preorder bonuses included; they were supposed to be acessed using their own "epic rewards club" but that isn't operational yet. Instead they've set up a free download from their online store, link below:

Bandai EU also offers Alphamon and Dukemon NX, otherwise only available in the 20th anniversary japanese limited edition (which sold out before launch), as paid DLC on the online store.

New digital and the physical PS4 versions from bandai namco US do NOT include the launch bundle with the game, that is strictly restricted to owners who pre-ordered their game or launch day editions. Furthermore, it's reported some DLC codes do not work, but a official reply states that the PSN has yet to validate all DLC codes and so they might work later on. Digital Ps4 versions include the exclusive theme you see in the picture.

This is particularly important because without the launch bundle, the PS4 version is NOT compatible with the Vita version for crossplay purposes.

It's also confirmed that EU versions of Cyber Sleuth are incompatible with US versions of Hacker's Memories, and vice versa, meaning you won't be able to get any carriover bonuses. On the other hand, the physical english subbed asia version is compatible with the digital EU version.

the answer is here . That said, you won't start from scratch, since you can only transfer the digimon after you beat the game, while the nx digimon can be obtained near the start. It's up to you.

You can even transfer the costumed agumon from cyber sleuth to hacker's memory, so absolutely no digimon was dropped.

Some corporation created(discovered?) the digital world while beta testing their EDEN virtual world. They used the MC and his friends to beta test EDEN and they ended up finding the digital world where they met Agumon and them but they got attacked by an Eater (I don't remember why). The eater ate a human and got corrupted wanting it to consume more data. Years later eaters took over the digital world corrupting everything, digimon agreed that they needed to kill humans to save their world. In EDEN humans use digimon as hacks/viruses and the MC was gifted a digimon for some fucking reason. He was eaten by an Eater as he was trying to escape but something happened so he lost his physical body but retains everything else through a digital body. Anyway he joins a detective agency to help solve cybercrimes and eventually winds up realizing digimon are trying to destroy the world so he goes to the digital world to stop the eater corruption.

There's no guarantee the NA Codes will eventually start working. Games have come out before we broken codes that couldn't get fixed.
