I took it meaning the sun has fallen out of orbit from our galaxy. Star systems orbit within their own respective galaxies, and galaxies are "moving" in space as well. But heading straight for earth? Ya that doesn't make much sense. But if we somehow erased all of our current orbits and made all the planets stationary (no momentum) then the sun would head toward the earth, kind of. They'd both attract each other, but of course the earth would do most of the leg work in closing the gap. The sun might move a small bit, and probably more so due to the larger planets further out.

Well exactly, that's just enough of a hand wave for me to forgive but thinking about it for too long starts to cause problems.
