Kaiserreich's the best mod for HoI4 so far, but it still needs a bit more tweaking.

What I've noticed after a dozen or so games is that Germany and Russia tend to get locked in an eternal war where the frontlines just stop moving for years, while they continue to spam hundreds of divisions that just makes your game lag. Happens sometimes with France and Germany too, but not quite as often.

That's not realyl KR's fault, it's the fact that the game gives a fair chance to both sides, so if you want to play russia you won't be advantaged or disavantaged compared to the commies.
The ultimate downfall of the mod is the game itself. HoI 4 is shit and has awful AI which can't into tactics, can't asses a front properly and will infinitely bash its head against a front. It is not unusual to see Germany in vanilla take over france by ramming the Maginot line repeatedly.
The next Expansion will most likely not fix these problems but atleast it will reintroduce some basic OOB, weather conditions and decisions back into the game which will make it more palatable. But that does not change the fact that the core mechanic of the game, the fucking combat, is broken when against non players. and even against players the simplicity of the battlewidth system makes it possible to build "solved divisions" which are literaly the best divisions one can make in a certain field as opposed to older Hearts of Irons' different fronts, different units, different tactics, HoI 3 was especialy great at this

how hard is hoi4 compared to other paradox games?
i've spend literally thousands of hours in ck2, eu3 and stellaris but whenever i see screenshots from hoi4 there's like zillions of units and it looks absurdly complicated.
